  3. There's also a hell of a lot hinging on this album. If it sucks, blink will be officially dead. If it's awesome, it could reinvent the band for years to come. Not something you want to fly by the seat of your pants on.

  4. I dunno, I still think the adventure is a pretty solid song. One of the very few I actually gain a modicum of enjoyment from. I do agree that if it had input from mark and Travis it could well have been a better song though

  7. I wish fender would just put up the whole video of them demoing the amp. nobody is going to enjoy a 10 second Instagram clip of practically nothing.

  8. Oh shit! I forgot about Easy Target! That definitely should have been a single. Or All of This, simply because of Rob Smith, that would've been massive I reckon. Can't get on board with hating ILWY, that song is fucking sublime! Especially the drum solo at the end.

  9. I didn't even know the MySpace version was different. Man, MySpace was awesome for music back in the day. It's the one thing Facebook has never done as well with. Not even close.

  10. Yeah but with untitled it took them something like 11 months almost to the day and they knew each other inside out. I would give them longer than that as they have to learn to write together and figure out where the chemistry lies. Also, sure they may well have tons of ideas and half written songs but they'll be spending even more time figuring out the direction, sound and feel of the album. Plus, I think it's going to be scrutinised even more than Neighbourhoods was due to Tom leaving and Matt stepping in. I think they will have had and still have a huge amount to figure out.

  11. I personally think Down is the better song, and the better single than Always. Though honestly, I think Violence should have been the 3rd single. There really isn't many songs like Violence out here, and it is oddly catchy, and honestly I think it could have done quite well on the radio, especially in terms of reaching out to more people to show what blink was capable of. Only thing is, in 2004, I can see how Violence might not have fit along the current songs in the genre. It feels like a song that if it was released around 2007-2008 it would have done fantastic on the radio, based on what was big at that time.

  12. I was listening to Enema the other day, and as great as that album is, I think what that album lacked was Mark/Tom back and forth vocals. The only song with both singing in *noticeably* is Dysentary Gary and that's nothing more than a small Mark verse in a Tom song.

  16. Down is one of my favorite songs ever. I could say that about pretty much every track on the untitled record, but Down is one of the ones I enjoy the most for sure. I love the outro, but I wish it lasted longer. I love the way they played it at Wembly.

  18. My biggest worry for this album, is not necessarily that it will bad, but that it will be forgettable. Both Mark and Matt have had there fair share of forgettable tracks.

  19. Yeah- if blink was a band that released more regularly then the pressure wouldn't be on this album as bad. but when it's all you get for like 5 years it's crucial that it be good.

  20. You don't think it's a long time to write and record an album together in seven months? That's almost as long as they spent on untitled. I'm not saying it will be done by then, but it's perfectly reasonable to think the album could be done by then.

  21. Can't argue with this at all. It was (and still is) a fantastic song. And - as you mention - the video was brilliant too Down doesn't really have that 'big hook' or catchy part imo. Also not sold on the idea of Violence being a single either, it's a great 'fan' song but i doubt it would've done well on the radio. The static bit between the intro and the verse might confuse some people, especially if they're just tuning in at that exact point. As with Down, it doesn't really have a catch or a hook that gets stuck in your head, which is what radio songs are all about i think.

  23. Not a Tombot, but I love all 5 albums AVA released. 95% of their song catalogs are songs I don't skip. I love how positive the lyrics were (while they were pretentious). WDNTW was a great positive spacy album, I-Empire was a great stadium rock album, Love 1&2 were good astronaut rock albums, and TDW is Ilan's greatest work yet.

  24. I wouldn't go nearly as far as to say i love (or ever loved) it. But i certainly gained a certain amount of enjoyment from it. There's something kind of uplifting about it, which i suppose is something Tom was and is aiming for with AVA. In regards to Always following I Miss You, that would've made a lot of sense i think. I've never liked Down, i almost always skip it when it comes on. For me, the only thing that saves it slightly is i quite enjoy playing it on bass. But other than that, it doesnt actually feel like a blink song to me. And the video was just weird too, never understood how it tied into the song. Ah well.

  25. when all you're doing is recording, yes. but not when you're still writing. i don't think they went in the studio with 10+ finished songs ready to record. writing and finalizing songs before recording them takes time

  26. Besides some click baity Mary Sue stuff, the only real complaints I've heard about Rey or the movie in general are in this thread. Everyone I know loved the movie and loved Rey. Even people who had never seen SW. My dad hates sci-fi...he loved the movie and Rey. Same for my wife, who has seen it twice now.

  27. I never understood the love for the adventure, outside of my general AVA & Tom bashing, it just literally doesn't appeal to me by itself. it's boring. it's the first AVA song I heard and I instantly didn't like it and I still don't get why people do. unless they rewrote the whole song entirely I don't see how it would have worked in blink. I wonder if Always would have done a lot better being the follow up single to I Miss You and they just skipped Down entirely. It's one of the singles you hear the least by them on the radio and stuff... probably because it's not a great song (personal opinion) but it isn't the catchiest 'single' style track either really, Always fits that much better. Genuinely don't know why they released Down at all.

  28. you essentially just said that it would be a huge hit if it were a different song entirely lol the lyrics in that song are pretty lame and just show how fucked on pain killers tom was. people loved it because it was the first blink-related thing we had heard since the breakup. now that time has passed, it really isn't that great.

  29. I think if the adventure had become a blink song on a 2005 album, it could have been one of their biggest songs ever and hit a widespread audience. The intro build up and riff with blink effects (heavy self titled guitars), the verse melody resung by tom with better lyrics in the less whiny voice, a completely redone chorus from mark with an actual hook that keeps up the pace of the song, and just general input from mark and Travis on the song. Song could have been a mega hit if it was handled like a self titled song.

  30. All The Small Things yeah has more "staying power" I suppose, but in terms of the song that reached the widest and most varied audience, as well as the single that actually sold the most, it was I Miss You. Frankly neither song makes my top 5 for blink songs (though I Miss You is definitely closer to that list). It just seems to me that I Miss You was the single that was steering blink in the right direction to become a band with a much wider appeal than what they had drawn in by that time. Of course that momentum didn't continue when Down and Always failed to take off as very successful singles, and then of course the breakup happening not long after that truly killed that push that was seemingly about to happen. I truly believe a follow up album released in 2005 (something much closer in overall sound to self titled and not so much Neighborhoods) really could have made blink become an even bigger band than they were at their peak Enema days.

  31. I think I hear the Rock Show the most. I really think that its a great single too. Very catchy and poppy enough but still has a hard hitting chorus. Also has a catchy riff.
