  1. I bought it as an mp3 and put it on a memory stick, when I woke up the day after it was a CD. I have the vinyl now. I have no idea what it will turn into next. If it continues growing I might have to get rid of it.

  3. One of my favorite common gripes is the bashing about the "lyric quality" on this album from the apparent "die-hard fans" all over the place... How long have you listened to blink I want to ask them? Seriously, I've listened to these guys steadily since I was introduced to them when I was probably five years old and it was never for the lyrical content. It was the upbeat, wicked instrumentation, and image of the band that hooked me in and kept me a fan until this very day. I mean, come on, let's get real, there are a flaws in this album and valid gripes but to continue to bitch about the lyrics on California is just comical to me. We can argue about when blink were in their prime, but let's just say "I need a girl that I can train" and "nobody likes you when you're 23" are snippets of songs I grew up on that are not some out of this world lyrical masterpieces. What do some people want from these guys is the bigger question? Should they be referencing Plato's Republic to really bring some heavy hitting mature sophisticated lyrics at this point? I just don't get it. I guess I haven't been listening to the same blink-182 as these people.

  4. California appeals to the masses. Neighborhoods appeals to me. I'm with shutup on this one. Darker blink is the better blink. Lyrics felt much more honest.

  6. We will not drag Brand New. They've written some smart, beautiful stuff, and whatever their lyrics lack is made up for by Lacey bleeding into every note he sings and I will not stand for opposition.

  9. So after one week and a lot of listenings here's my review: Cynical First time I heard it I already felt in love with the song. Matt's part is killer and everything I wish blink to sound like in the year 2016. 5/5 Bored to Death Loved that song from the beginning, it's even better on the record. The bridge is classic blink to me. 4.5/5 She's out of her mind Classic blink, makes a great single for sure. Wasn't really into it from the beginning, but got the chorus stock in my head the last days. 4/5 Los Angeles Something different, which I like. The first verse is still not my cup of tea, but I like the chorus and the bridge is fantastic. 3.5/5 Sober I don't know why but I can not get into it, I just can't. The verses are actually nice, but the chorus is just kinda meh to me...hope the song grows with more listenings. 2.5/5 Built this pool It is what it is, a joke song. Looking forward to hear it in a live set. No Future Wasn't really a fan of it last week, but damn that's a kind of a grower. The verses are great, the chorus is huge (I really hope they'll play it live) and the bridge might be my favorite bridge on this record. 4.5/5 Home is such a lonely place This song gives me chills and it's great to sing a long. I wonder if they'll add it to their live set. 4/5 Kings of the weekend It was somehow forgettable on the first few listenings, but I really really digging it now and the scream in the second verse is such a pleasure. Good one as well. 3.5/5 Teenage Satellites The bridge makes it again...love that part. Anyway, it's a nice song but nothing special. 3/5 Left Alone Chorus is big, Matt kills it, the harmonies are beautiful and I would definitely love to hear Left Alone live. 4/5 Rabbit Hole The song is better in context of the album, but it's not one of my favorites. Although that bridge again...3.5/5 San Diego Great one! I really hope they stick to that kind of sound on their future work. I also love the reference to The Cure, one of my all time favorites. I think it is my favorite song of the record atm. 5/5 The only thing that matters Fast, fun and a throwback to the old blink days. I appreciate. 3.5/5 California Even though this song has some Simple Plan / GC kind of feel, I like it. It is catchy as hell and the outro is fantastic, but could last longer. 4/5 Brohemian Rhapsody Probably not the best song to end the record with. California is a solid 4/5 to me right now. It's a great summer record and brings me in a good mood. I wonder where I'm going to rank it in a year... Some more thoughts: Matt kills it. He was the right choice and makes blink so much better as a live band. Thank you! Travis' drumming is huge as usual. Too many na na na's, woaaahs and gang vocals Can't wait to see them next year in Europe again So excited for the future! I hope the next record is going to be more experimental and a little bit darker again. Songs like Cynical, Los Angeles, Left Alone and San Diego are the direction to go

  11. WYHSB got pretty damn close. Of course that took a whole ton of dark shit happening to Mark at once to come out as awesome as it did. But there was definitely a lot of passion and legit artistry put into that album, and in a lot of ways its nearly as good as Untitled.

  12. I'll take Neighborhoods any day. Much stronger songwriting. Also, for fans like me who love the first couple AvA records and the +44 record, it really does sound like an awesome "supergroup" of these two bands. I think some people -- including Mark, Tom and Travis -- aren't giving this record enough credit. Sure, there's a disjointedness to the album, but there's also an impressive amount of stylistic unity, given how much Mark and Tom's songwriting sensibilities had diverged by the time this was written and recorded. Funny, it really wasn't until the album underperformed with mainstream audiences that you saw the band's rhetoric on the record change. Which isn't to say they weren't privately skeptical of it the entire time, but I think had it done better commercially, they might be more sanguine about the album today. Originally, they seemed to love the idea of three different "neighborhoods" of musical influence converging to a single vector. I did too, and when I heard the album, I was stoked on how well they had achieved their goal. Still am. Songs like "After Midnight," "Ghost On the Dancefloor," "Natives," "Snake Charmer," "Heart's All Gone," "Kaleidoscope," "Wishing Well," -- almost all of 'em, really -- are just damn well written, classic tunes. Carefully crafted and artfully conceived. Sure, the process of "frankensteining" the songs together isn't the most ideal way to make a record, but damn if it didn't work out well on this album. Hell, a lot of the artists who pump out hit after hit in today's world seem to use this email-back-and-forth method almost exclusively, or at least, quite often. I think it was an easy scapegoat for them to blame the disappointment of the record on, but I don't think it was the problem. The proof of the pudding being the Dogs EP, which for me, is a collection of lesser songs; the fact that they were in the room together for most of that one didn't save it.

  27. Pretty much all of Cynical She said that it's too late to try Someday, I'll smile and say goodbye And I hold on tight But not enough to hold you back Wish I could slow down time But not enough to slow you down I wish that we could save today But I know we can't stay the same And I keep pushing you away Don't wait for me Sometimes I feel like I'm the oxygen between The cigarette and gasoline There's more I really like. I was trying to be picky in what I posted.

  29. its really 50/50 for me. Neighborhoods for the lyrics, progression and it had more guitar parts. California is just a much more fun record, and its a blast to bump it up in your car and have an overall damn good time with. I will give Cali the slight edge tho because that album i won't skip a song on while Neighborhoods i skip a few songs on.

  32. I wasn't comfortable with Tom wearing Love shirts, during that tour, but mostly because it was in poor taste. You really, really shouldn't wear shirts promoting the band that was born from breaking apart from the guys you're sharing a stage with. I know Travis and Mark wear the same FSAS/HMNIM shit over and over on stage these days, but Tom should never have worn that shirt. That being said, the beanie was infinitely worse. Ugh. I fucking loathed that beanie.

  33. Doesn't have to be that extreme I don't think. I'd say it's just when you like it more as time goes on, it "grows" on you regardless of what you thought at first.

  34. I'd say so. I like California, even when it lacks cohesion or the flavors I look for in blink, it works as an album to generate positive momentum for them among the music world. It's coming out at the perfect time of year, and people who have either never heard of blink or don't remember anything they've done since Enema will get a sugar rush that will create a lot of new fans in the process.

  35. Yeah neighbourhoods has riffs but Tom's guitar has no bollocks. It sounds like it's dying. I fucking hate everything about Tom on neighbourhoods, his dying guitar, his awful pretentious lyrics and of course his disgusting voice. Also knowing Mark and Trav weren't really talking to Tom etc has ruined it for me.

  36. If anyone speaks/reads Spanish, check this out. I think it has been posted, but anyways: https://issuu.com/rockzonemag/docs/rz127/26 It was done before the acoustic shows in London. Travis talks about tons of shit we already know, but, hey... some interesting points: - Feldman is credited as if he was another member of the band. So I guess his input was big. - They are thinking about releasing a new EP THIS YEAR, including some of the songs that were not included on California. - They are goind to record the next album really soon, cause they want to ride this creative wave and take all the profit from it. - When asked about the Tom's demos album, he says he didn't listened to it. (So, no confirmation about those demos being for blink) - He talks with Tom every week or two weeks but they do't talk about music or the band. Only about family and shit. There's no bad blood and the opportunity for him to be back "will always be there". - They are gonna play "Rabbit Hole", "Bored To Death", "Built This Pool" and "Brohemian Rhapsody" as the only songs to play life from California- (if this does not change with time, this seriously SUCKS) - There will be a huge tour in Europe on summer 2017. - He's working in another solo album RIGHT NOW. He plans to release it ASAP and tour with it. (I don't know if Travis' days have 30 hours or what. Remember, blink is in the beggining of a 2 year period of work for California and the future EP).
