  1. This is proof that Finn was 1000 times better a producer than Feldman. This stuff was obviously Finn and it's just genius. Feldman couldn't even dream of something half as good. Worth a listen.

  2. I'll take Tom's California song any day ... at least it's supposed to be a shit song ... Mark, Travis, Matt and Feldman are actually fucking trying with this shit and it makes it worse.

  3. When Ghost posted the video of him in AK I was honestly blown away how much more comfortable he looks, he just looks so awkward in Blink on stage, obviously it takes time to adjust, but I feel like he has had a decent amount of time now and its still odd. I don't think he is bringing much to the table because he is being limited by Feldman wanting it done a certain way and being a new member I don't think he has the power to say "this sucks". It is pretty obvious who is pulling the strings right now. This is feeling more and more like Feldman's band by the day, and I think he has Mark totally controlled.

  6. I started that band. I could go back tomorrow if I wanted too. They're paying someone to play my songs. -Scott Raynor, probably.

  7. I know, its nuts. The song is just a catchy generic pop punk song and she still loved it. can't believe the TWAT enjoyed the song on its own merits

  8. Hey guys, been lurking blink forums(this and 182online included) for a long time, now decided it's time to share some thoughts. Well, blink were one of the firts bands that made me love music back in 2009. They were my favourite band for many years, later Radiohead took the throne, now can't say that I have one but nevertheless, I'm still really involved in the life of the band - Blink is the band I follow the most while not listening to them a lot. I've noticed such a thing that people who love Untitled or Neighbourhoods tend to love more intellectual music in general and love some particular things in Blink music (melody both guitar and vocal, interesting stylistic blending of pop-punk, pop music, some post-punk influences). While people who like California or early records tend to love other pop-punk bands and don't like more sophisticated bands. I used to listen to a lot of pop-punk back in the days but the only bands which remained with me are the bands which weren't really pop-punk in the first place (late Blink, JEW, Brand New). P.S. New song is disgusting. - Predictable/awful guitar and vocal parts - Chorus is a standard pop-punk template. It is a 100% copy of A New Hope chorus. But A New Hope chorus while having the same chords, has good vocal melody and the whole song is a lot cleverer sound and lyrics wise. - Awful mixing. What's up with those drums, Feldmann? What can we really expect from a person who writes Goldfinger songs? Goldfinger is a third-rate generic pop-punk band. Now Blink is going to become one. Who do they want to impress with Parking Lot? People who are stuck in 1997? That's ridiculous. Many modern pop-punk bands are trying to evolve (Pity Sex, Turnover, Balance and Composure, Titlefight to name a few). All those bands are miles ahead sound-wise. Well, +44 is miles ahead Blink-2017 sound-wise - and the album was released in 2006!!! Couldn't really expect anything from Skiba. Alkaline Trio is very generic sound-wise and they have like three or four real riffs in their whole discography. But you know what? FUCK RIFFS! SOME POWER CHORDS AND NA-NA-NA'S WILL BE ENOUGH.

  9. Spot on. Shame on those who do. Over the history there has been even better B-sides than the A side of the single. Maybe the idea of a B side is the idea of a kind of less important song -or just the not 'chosen one'-, that's why them were placed on the B side of a single back in the day, but is not even a minimal excuse for them to be bad or remains. Anyway, this is not a disc of B sides.Label called it bonus tracks because they don't want to abandon the California cycle yet. Band has named it "another whole record even better than California". So...

  10. LMAO! Ain't it great how so many people on here are getting paid to surf these boards and how it is far more active during work hours than on the weekends.

  18. he's certainly a better singer overall. and i appreciate that he's engaged and interested in the band. but other than that, he doesn't bring much to the table at this point. it still sounds, based on parking lot, like he's trying to write to fit blink-182, what he thinks the band is. instead of just writing what he wants to write -- the matt skiba who wrote sadie. i give him one more album before i write him off completely.

  20. I sadly have to agree here. I expected a very different thing when he was announced as the new member. As I said in other thread, I can barely see the same guy who wrote songs like Radio, Hell Yes, We Have Had Enough, Clavicle, 97... (but also I don't recognise Mark as the guy who wrote as many amazing songs ither). I don't know. This is starting to look like a guy who is in because all the fireworks, and says yeah to all what the three other members have to say.

  21. Looks like Blink found a replacement for Skiba. Sorry Oliver. Goes by the name of Matt Skipa.

  22. Where do I vote for Matt Skiba back to his own band? I can put up with an album every 5 years and some touring with Tom if that equals better music and contents.. i mean, they're getting older, there's no need to be as relevant as Mark wants blink to be right now, there's no need to put out an album every year and tour for months. I personally don't care about charts and all those stuffs, just give me some good songs every once in a while and I'll be fine. Option number 4: current members but without Feldy. Tom is too crazy to be here and he doesn't care, plus, I think there's a big untapped potential with Skiba but I doubt it'll ever see the light the light of day. They chose the safest road and ditched their first batch of songs in order to have a #1 album, I'm pretty sure those songs had some heart in them, but now we can forget about the what ifs and could have beens because there's no return from the Feldy land. They'll be stuck with him doing crappy music with no creativity whatsoever. I should try to enjoy their music for what it is because at least it's catchy but it's not easy.

  23. As someone who loves California and is excited for the deluxe album to sound similar, I want the next actual album to be more experimental, and if not the next album then at least the one after that, and I really really hope they can prove us wrong and manage to do that with Feldman since it doesn't seem like they're going to part ways with him. I think two albums with this style is fun but I'd like them to mix it up with their next album like they've always done in the past and maybe even take more time with the next recording and writing process because although I like California I think they have even more potential and could make something that's truly breathtaking if they put the effort and time

  24. People use B-sides synonymous with songs that didn't make the record now?

  25. If it didn't have Blinks name behind it.. it might not make any album

  26. That would be cool to have blink do an album like that. It would be like a Untitled Part 2 in some sort of way.
    1 point
  27. This. All of that would still never sound cohesive unless they all were in the same studio together. If they had stuck to their plan for recording in early 2015 in that same Untitled-style, we could have been closer to that cohesiveness.

  28. I wouldn't go that route. The worse you can do once you've been dumped that way, is to give the reason to the other side by setting on vendetta mode. Best way for me: let go, be yourself, and be nice with those who are interested in what you did there. I mean, don't we have better things to do than that?

  29. Well either way, Scott seems like a good sport, honestly if I was in a band 20 years ago, and they kicked me out, and went onto be successful, I'd be bitter as hell, and I'd tell people who were only interested in me because I was in that band to fuck off. "Can you sign this piece of paper that Mark, Travis and Tom signed" No fuck off. "Can we play a Blink 182 song together" No fuck off. "Can I get a picture with you because you were in Blink 182 20 years ago" No fuck off. etc.

  30. That's actually not a bad comparison haha. I bet fans felt similiar back then, and hated the new styles of Van Halen that became popular. Sammy Hager had some actual leadership qualities though.. They were trying to make new music yet, replacing a member, not necessarily milking the Van Helen name and playing a sell out version of themselves. Maybe they were.. Wasn't too big into them to know.

  31. It's alright guys in a couple years, we'll be looking at this era the same way Van Halen fans look at the Sammy hager years.

  32. Dude! No need to be sorry for loving your team and talking about them! It's what this topic is about man. Heat are playing amazingly right now. Real fun team to watch. Really rate Dragic too! Yeah man, don't ever feel the need to apologize for talking about your team man! Lol.

  33. As much as I would love for us to potentially get a star player from the draft I've been really enjoying the run and I'm glad they finally found an identity and have a chance to be competitive again. With that being said it's important to note that a lot of these guys are on a contract year and there's no way we're going to be able to pay all of them next season or if they'll even continue this level of play next season so I hope this doesn't come back to bite us in the butt in the future. But tbh even tanking doesn't guarantee a star player/a good future so I'm just going with the flow and enjoying our current season while it lasts because what we have going is pretty special. I agree with what you said though that tanking was probably the better option but the rebuilding process is such an unpredictable thing literally bad or good things can happen no matter what path the team takes and I just gotta support the team with whatever they decide and they chose to fight for the playoffs so fingers crossed cuz no one in our fan base knows what is going to happen to this team after the season ends

  34. "their new sound" with has been described as 90s Epitaph and ATL ten years ago. Fuck, gotta preserve that bold new vision.

  35. The turnaround from them has been incredible, I enjoy watching THE DRAGON run the point. As a Heat fan, are you kinda pissed they're doing good now? Seems like it would have been better to tank. Would like to know your opinion!

  36. I'd rather have bat-shit crazy Tom back obviously. I think DED was pretty good, better than Neighborhoods and Cali's 5 best songs. Anyways I think they'll ride out the new incarnation until sales dip. Then maybe bring Tom back. I'd like to think his recent statements about Skiba doing his job while he's gone shows he's jealous as fuck and maybe not at peace with the current blink state. That said it might just be the money he's missing. Who knows with Tom? He probably doesn't even have his own thoughts worked out. All I know is I'll always try to listen to a blink-related release. Whether I enjoy or look forward to it anymore is another matter entirely unfortunately.

  37. Love the comparison. Breath of the Wild is sooooo good. I unlocked the 3rd divine beast and I said fuck that I'm gonna explore for another 15 hours. Such a rewarding game. Def in my top 10. Is it better than OOT? Not sure on the fence about it but I'm leaning towards yes!

  38. Clearly you can't have an intellectual discussion? I think it's interesting to discuss the hypotheticals what's wrong with that, why would I want this to happen, I don't want a blink album to be panned. There's really nothing left to talk about I'm trying to change it up a little. I try to give you the benefit of the doubt, but your comments are one sentence essentially telling people to go fuck themselves or "JFC." I'm tired of the mudslinging from some people, it's pointless.

  39. Musically, I like the second option a lot more. But even if Tom got in the studio and recorded new music with them, it would feel wrong knowing what we know today (blink just paid the bills and his ego is in another dimension at this point). It would just be a cancer to the band to have him back. Mark and Travis would feel little motivation for blink having to put up with him. At least today they can have fun making successful music with no drama, which makes me happy for them. It sucks knowing we wouldn't be having this discussion had blink found a better producer. The Alkaline-Early blink combo Mark talked about before Feldmann could have been amazing.

  40. HOLY MOTHER OF PEARL. Holy crap, I just got a FLAC rip of the audiophile remastered version of Enema Of The State. Went through it, and noticed some significant differences in sound. First of all, much less saturated. Lower levels, but more breathable. Then, once listened, I got to the spectrals, that's what I got comparing the audiophile 24bit FLAC vinyl rip and the standard FLAC CD rip: Dumpweed remastered (vinyl rip) Dumpweed original release. Just look at both top ends. And also those middle ranges. Thay have been lowered noticeably. You just can blast Dumpweed as loud as you can without cymbals drilling your brains out, just enjoying all the punch of the song. And it just could have been lowered a little bit more to get some more breathing. But this is fine. It feels more balanced to me. And this is not even a perfect vinyl rip (some tiny pops and distortion on Disentery Gary, the original user fucked up that one while ripping it). Fuck, if they only did this to all their releases... and released it digitally. EDIT: boxelder confirmed this vinyl rip is not de audiophile version. Which has surprised me a lot, because I suppose the audiophile reissue has to be even way better than this vinyl rip. Anyway, conclusions are still the same.
