Producing other bands is very different to producing yourself. Ultimately, producing yourself leads to situations where a song is never finished, it's never perfect. if you couple that with Marks confidence problems, it's a miracle Neighborhoods was finished at all. At least with a producer you have an external, presumably impartial ear guiding you and having that official 'this is finished' say, it just makes a more balanced product. I think if you can afford a producer you should always use one, just make sure you at least like the work they've done previously or don't see any signs of them sucking a lot. You'll always be your own worst critic, and thats just dangerous from a production side of things.3 points

When I first read this I thought, well this contradicts all of their statements about going into the studio and recording an album at the end of the year after the tours over so it can't be true. But then I remembered it only takes them a month to write and record an album now...3 points

God that stupid shit thing when players force the foul from outside and get three free throws has to stop. I hate that thing. Harden has excelled it. I've seen Westbrook doing it too some times.3 points

Well, at least he didn't say Bored To Death. maybe it's because its the one song from California thats actually in the right register for him to sing?2 points

If were lucky they'll add it to the setlist by August.. They need months of rehearsals to play power chords on $50k worth of equipment2 points

Playing Games 3 and 4 in OKC are just what they need to get going so there's that. Also I loved pre-2008 basketball. I'd take a 75-72 game over a 120-118 game any day.2 points

Olidipo is so bad. He just seems to have no IQ out there but this he's Jordan. Harden was like 2/10 with 20 points. This is what drives me nuts.2 points

I am liking the new song! Sounds like a natural progression from their self titled. I'm glad they are experimenting and releasing interesting music rather than the same old thing each time.2 points

And Joyce Manor!! I'll see them this summer a few days before blink!1 point

Haha shouldn't have included Wavves (I was listening to them and forgot they were already with them!) but Modern Baseball will hopefully be healthy and back at it soon1 point

Haha yeah I can see the similarities. I wouldn't want blink to sound like this in every song but I usually always like it when blink-182 tries something different.1 point

Funny to see this and your post saying you hope they don't tour with Linkin Park, because I actually think Los Angeles sounds like Linkin Park! Haha1 point

Los Angeles is a top California song. Easily one of my favorites on the record. And not like "it's bad but I like it more than the other bad songs." I genuinely really like Los Angeles a lot.1 point

Kawhi is awesome his team isn't garbage though. Spurs is the most successful franchise of the last 20 years rightfully so.1 point

Same, I think it fits Matt's personality quite well. I have an Ibanez just like that and it rocks, although the frets are much larger so I always go back to my Strat.1 point

Defensively? Yeah for sure. Harden is a joke defensively and Westbrook is average. Even if you weight defense 30% I still believe Westbrook had the better season (not just because of his tripple doubles but also because what he was able to do with so little help). Curry? Sure...;)1 point

This is kind of a tough one. I think I like the music to TIH more than TS, but the lyrics are fucking awful. The themes of the songs seem to be similar to me, but lyrically Teenage Satellites works a lot better. I think I'll have to go with TS on this one. Second Cali vote till now!1 point

I am so down with this! I know people hate on the current Blink/Feldmann music factory, but damn it is awesome to have shows to look forward to!1 point

Ahh the ole "remove a top 5 player in the league and the team is better" argument again. Leonard is a sensational defensive player having one of the better offensive seasons in the league. Westbrook and Harden are inefficiently piling up stats while being straight up bad defensive players. Then there are the teams records.1 point
-
Probably because it's new, unique and like Kay said...he cna actually sing it. It's also one of the best songs on California.1 point
-
The Spurs better defensively just shows how you can't rely on stats. Lenoard is easily the best wing defender in the league and it's not even close. The Spurs don't work in a single playmaker. They move the ball around and get lots of hockey assists, it's why they're so deadly. Everyone is a playmaker. No offense, but to claim Leonard doesn't make his teams better is a bit ignorant. The Spurs won 60 games with that roster. I'm watching him just about single handedly push my team out of existence, he is giving bigger headaches than anyone else in the league because not only is he great, he's smart and relentless.1 point

I won't argue on the style. It's team based now which is more fun to get behind. Defensive schemes matter. But that's also because the top level talent isn't as dominant. I honestly don't think it's even close. There's a ton of good players, more good players and high quality role players, but less great players. I think people's memories just get shifted to the present hype, if you really compare a guy like Harden to Tmac, Kobe, or anyone in that era that was a scorer, he wouldn't stand out like this. Heck, he wouldn't have many fans at all because he's not nearly as athletic and entertaining. 2000-2009 you said..I think 2005-2009 probably a low time in the league forsure, but out of those years. Kobe, Shaq, Tmac, Iverson, Vince Carter, Ray Allen, Pierce, Dirk, Nash, Garnett, Yao, Kidd, old Jordan, Wade, Duncan, young LeBron, Melo, Chris Paul, young KD, Bosh, Pau, Ben Wallace, J. ONeil, Marion, Webber Pretty much all these guys were legit dominant scorers or defenders that you would have to double. You never at that anymore. I mean the big man alone isn't even comparable. It's a completely different game. Top level talent is weak, but that honestly might make for a better game. The lack of good bigs holds it back from being even better though.1 point

It's so embarrassing that it's part of a professional level basketball. No one wants to watch that shit. When I show non NBA fans games, they will even look at me during foul calls like that and be like 'wtf??? They call that? That's so lame'1 point

Its over 4 years but yeah not devastating, it's still a chunk. If you don't he math. That's $470 fine for someone making 40,000 a year. Mike Conley said he paid it for him though so doesn't matter haha.1 point

Both are filler tracks to me, but I like the idea of This is Home more, great ideas that would've been pulled off great if proper effort was put into it.1 point

"that in itself may be an indicator of some of our current artistic differences that are difficult to overcome." I think he was just saying that it's a perfect example of the "artistic differences" not the actual cause of them. They obviously had different ideas of what Blink was supposed to be, and having a co-writer is just proof of that from his point of view. As for having a producer at all, I think they TOTALLY needed one (but not a co-writer). After trying to self-produce Neighborhoods and DED I was sooo stoked on the idea that they would work with a producer again. Obviously Feldmann went way too far (in my opinion) in dictating their sound and writing for them but I thought for a long time that they needed some outside ears to keep them on task and help make their ideas come to life. These Neighborhoods vs. Cali polls just solidify that in my mind. Revisiting those tracks makes me think of what could have been haha. So many of them sound like really promising demos that could have become amazing songs with some fine tuning. A Tom guitar part here, a more worked-out bridge there, a lot of things could have been kicked up a huge notch if they all worked together and had a producer. But not Feldmann, as evidenced by California losing every poll so far haha.1 point

If anyone is still into them (pun not intended) here is their latest single: Personally I really like it. Album drops in 3 weeks!1 point

Or maybe that's what Mark & Travis wanted all along and that's why he put the recording of the new blink album aside until he got out.. - Just a thought1 point

Don't think Tom was ever vocal about +44. I'm sure he listened to this and also to the Cali record. Must be at least curious to hear what they have done. Wasn't Tom also the first who said that Blink had co-writers for the new album and with him in the band that would have never happened? So he must have talked about it with his "connections" in the industry.1 point

I'm actually really looking forward to this one. I wish the internet hype would calm down a bit. I the type of person who would rather not know anything before seeing it. look at these dudes!1 point

Practically every other trailer, for every other film in hollywood, tells you the entire damn film in the trailer. nothing is a surprise, it's all just there - bam - in your face. The style of the star wars trailers is great, the hype should sell it because ultimately the fan base is strong enough that they'll see it anyway - at least this way they can be genuinely excited instead of having it ruined for them before they even sit down. I welcome trailers that don't shove everything into them, fan bloody tastic, bring it on! lets make going to the cinema actually worth doing again. also, I was surprised by how much I liked Force Awakens and I adored Rogue One, possibly my favourite film of last year so this long time non-star-wars-fan is on the hype train now.1 point

Teenage Satellites is one of my favorite songs on California. It might be the most Skiba vocal song too. I definitely prefer it to This is Home...1 point

Currently downloading Yooka-Laylee on Steam. I still haven't finished Zelda, and I hardly have any time for video games anymore, so this is a great idea!1 point

I typically understand where the hate for particular blink songs come from (Fighting the Gravity, This Is Home, Pretty Little Girl (people typically do like this, but if they don't, I know why, its the Yelawolf rap), The Fallen Interlude, lots of the earlier songs like Strings, etc. etc.) With Parking Lot, I just don't get the hate. I can understand it doing little for you, but to say its one of their worst songs just doesn't make sense to me, its a fun and catchy song. Sure, its lacking in originality, and a far cry away from the best blink songs ever, but I don't find anything about it particularly offensive or disappointing, if I hear it come on in the background while I'm playing video games, I'm not going to rage and immediately change the track or anything silly like that.1 point
