Electronics problem with acoustic

The guitar is a Cole Clark FL1 (decent guitar, worth about $1,500).

If I strum with any amount of force, it all just buzzes out (like you'd expect from a busted subwoofer or something I guess). It's definitely to do with bass coming from the guitar. Unplugged it's perfect, but plugged in to any system (I've tried a few), it just makes this loud popping sound when strummed with any kind of force. If I turn the bass on the pickup all the way down then it's better but I can still make it go out if I strum quite hard. Playing the same way with another guitar is fine, it's definitely a problem with this guitar. Is there anything I can look for myself, or is it going to be a busted pickup (ie, a trip to the guitar store to have it replaced)?

Stressing out a bit because I have a gig on Friday and I need this guitar for then.
