Ghent
Hmm at first listen I noticed none of this but it does seem to go deeper than a random Christmas song now that I read the lyrics. Interesting
Russel Coight
Really? I picked up on it first listen through and just thought 'you clever bastards'.If that really is the theme of the song, which its seems most likely as if its just about getting dumped or something rubbish liek that the day after christmas i'd be very dissapointed, i think its safe to say that everything in this band is completely 100% back to normal. That they've completely forgiven each other for all the past shit considering they can sit together ina room and write a song about what happened and have no issues with it whatsoever. Pretty excited to hear the rest of this EP.
Ghent
If there are no mark songs blatantly about Tom on the EP it is a major step forward lol

theedge00
Assuming we are right: It's cool that the feel of the song is kinda happy and uplifting, but the story behind it is the total opposite.

plusavablinker
Found this on the internet... When I Was Young I woke up today, surrounded by blacknessThe small morning sun, devoured the processIt's always been fun, when I get a bit nervousAnd it's hard to say, but I feel a bit weightlessThe more I admit, I feel a bit anxiousThe more I go on, the less I can face thisAnd those rotten things that live in our shadowWe walked on the line of death and the gallowsAnd hope that we clear a path we can followIt was the worst damn day (It doesn't hurt that much) of my lifeI made a mess today (It doesn't hurt that much) I'm alrightIt doesn't hurt that muchWhen I was young, the world it was smallerThe cities were vast, the buildings were tallerI felt really strong, my parents seemed strongerBut life has a way; It showers with greatnessThen takes it away, those pieces that made usThen teaches ya few you'd never imagineWe all get the same; The memories, the burdensThe pictures we made, they still form a patternThey cautiously say "Does it all matter?"It was the worst damn day (It doesn't hurt that much) of my lifeI made a mess today (It doesn't hurt that much) I'm alrightIt doesn't hurt that much...2. Dogs Eating Dogs I've got a feeling, I've got a feelingThese broken nights and bitter endsWe would always starve and devourOur closest friends, my beautiful friendsParanoia, my paranoiaCan't let it go, it never lets me goWhat am I feeling, what am I feeling?Forecast into the freezing coldDogs eating dogs, dogs eating dogs, dogs eating dogsDogs eating dogs, dogs eating dogs, dogs eating dogsI'm the last and the first in a very sad set of eyesTo the bone, to the kneesTo the factory lineI am numb to the shotI have a crippling fear of heightsCause the fall sounds a lotLike a symphony of criesYour only hope is burning down the chapelAll getting washed out with the tideWe need to find some middle groundIt's always sex or suicideDogs eating dogs, dogs eating dogs, dogs eating dogsDogs eating dogs, dogs eating dogs, dogs eating dogsI'm the last and the first in a very sad set of eyesTo the bone, to the kneesTo the factory lineI am numb to the shotI have a crippling fear of heightsCause the fall sounds a lotLike a symphony of cries3. Disaster Fall comes, a loaded gunBlack ties for everyoneCan you read my mind?[Fall in my arms again]Grey stones that break apartFrench braids, demonic artThe dead come alive[Fall in my arms again] (Again)I'm scared of the dark my friendsWhat do you fear my love?Hold on, you're breaking up(Disaster, disaster) x2White stones of hollow eyesDeath comes, you better hideNever rest in town[Fall in my arms again]Full moon on a rotten nightEighteen and a wind came by, not a soul around[Fall in my arms again] (Again)I'm scared of the dark my friendsWhat do you fear my love?Your soul it will float like a doveYour words, they will scream out our loveYour lips, they will start...5. Pretty Little Girl []And you never really know where it goes until it startsI've got my eye on you, whatcha gonna do?[...]And I can't picture you, but I sure got the feeling rightWhat a crazy world, pretty little girlAnd we wasted the night, in a bed, with a bruiseAnd we're laughing out loud over the craziest newsWhen you reach for my hand, I was scared in your roomWe fell on the floor, and we started to moveAnd your hands were like birds as they flew from the coopUp my back they would climb, just as I came ungluedShe said if you break my heart, then I'll change your mindAnd I'll do it againIf you play the part, then I will play mineAnd I'll do it againIf we miss the mark, if we hold on tight-We'll be there to try it againNineteen, and you roll across the bedroom floorYour eyes, they came alight as you're dreaming of our future homeAnd the kids are growing up as you and I, we are growing oldWhat a crazy world, pretty little girl... Aria
Seems like when I was young is more about blink than boxing day and Dogs eating dogs is kind of an apologetic song from mark.
Ghent
i'm glad tom (for the most part) strayed away from writing lyrics that make no sense. that was always annoying and killed some of his songs.

David16
Yeah you're right Bennett. As far as Blink goes there aren't many songs that share that nature though. Maybe a few on Neighborhoods on first thought.

Tyler☮
Spread love like violence.. What does that even mean?
thongrider
Spread love like violence.. What does that even mean? I've always seen it as meaning violence and bad things spread fast and that love and good things should be spread just as fast to make the world better, I kind of like that line! He might just mean std's though.
ManchesterAdam
Spread love like violence.. What does that even mean? Well when you think about all the war, murder, crime, fighting, etc etc in the world, if people were to spread love in the way all those things are spread, it'd be a much better world. That's how I've always took that lyric anyway.
