theedge00
The press release: https://thewaltdisneycompany.com/disney-jon-favreau-the-lion-king/ The original was such an amazing movie, I highly doubt this remake will come close to that. John Favreau is so blah... Also, is Disney remaking all their classic animations now or what?

Speedo
To be fair though ... Disney is remaking all of their cartoon movies. It has nothing to do with those movies needing to be improved. They are just wanting to do live action remakes of their classics.

radioactive tomdog
yeah, the article says its going to look like this but without humans and lots of lions and hyenas. its obviously not going to live up to the original. but, i suppose its better than remaking it to look like a pixar movie? theedge00
Yeah I know, it's just another cash grab. Oh well. But you know, TLK is like the Godfather of animation or something. How can you remake it?
Speedo
I saw The Lion King in theatres and I cried so fucking hard when Mufasa died ... I'don't never been that devastated before and, truth be told, I probably won't ever be again ...

jd9973l
I guess new ideas are a thing of the past. Remakes are the dumbest fucking thing. Especially when they beat them to death like superman or spider man etc.. How many times with different actors are they going to do them? lol
Speedo
Me, it's always been a culture of remakes when it comes to movies.

allsystemsgo
Since growing up with it, Lion King is my favorite Disney movie (though Aladdin gets pretty close). If it's anything like the recent Jungle Book, it should be decent. I'm interested in seeing the story in a photo-realistic style. Plus Disney has been adapting all their movies to "live-action" recently. Jungle Book, Maleficient(Sleeping Beauty related), soon-to-be released Beauty and the Beast, and I believe they are doing The Little Mermaid? It's a no-brainer.

_Kyle_
I never liked the original to be honest. I was that kid who actually preferred Aladdin.
Ghent
One of the best animated films of all time, i'm cool with a remake/re-imagining of it. With the way technology is changing, those old school animated films will be un-watchable for kids if they don't keep the franchise alive. I can already tell my three year old prefers computer animated films over the classics.
