The Leading Role

I haven't posted lyrics here in a while,  but I sort of need somewhere to write it down. I probably won't be able to read what I read down on paper later.

The Leading Role

Verse 1

In this film there's no director
Just a lot of method actors
And no one knows when they'll say "It's a wrap"
You just gotta wonder why they don't get bored
there's no reward, there's no award
And no one knows who's gonna pay the tab

Chorus

You play the leading role
The first person on the set
You are in control
And don't you ever let
anyone say it's just a scene you stole
A movie sure brings on regret
But don't you ever forget
That you play the leading role

Verse 2

In this theater there is no script
Just a cradle and a crypt
Can't you hear the ringing of the bells?
It may not be the finest of arts
But it can still touch a lot of hearts
And you might give the most important parts to someone else

Chorus

You play the leading role
The first person on the set
You are in control
And don't you ever let
anyone say it's just a scene you stole
A play sure brings on regret
But don't you ever forget
That you play the leading role

Bridge

You play that role with precision
You take your best and give it
On some private mission
if you mess it up, you won't forgive it
Imagination, your unit is
of thoughts and memories, so bright and vivid
Life is full of opportunities
And all you gotta do is live it

Chorus

You play the leading role
The first person on the set
You are in control
And don't you ever let
anyone say it's just a scene you stole
Life sure brings on regret
But don't you ever forget
That you play the leading role

You play the leading role

Other than the "Life is full of opportunities/And all you gotta do is live it" line I actually love this. That line is kinda cliche compared to the rest of the song though

Thanks! I guess I felt the song was kind of a cliché from the start and that the bridge sort of tied the rest of the song to the last chorus, but most people I've shown it to have hated that part.
