Because near 30 year olds totez relate to songs about fitting in in High School and lashing out against mom and dad more than 40 year olds. Ghent
Tom Delonge was married with child one year after he wrote that song
Nasa
Can we just have one blink-related thread on here that doesn't descend into pointlessly cherrypicking lyrics for the 475th time? Is that too much to ask people?
Ghent
Sorry, I believe that is too much to ask. Now let's talk Feld.

It's a huge difference. Could also argue Tom wasn't mentally grown up either. 25 year old Tom mentally was 18-20. He never really had the chance to experience growing up the way most normal teenagers do. He was kicked out of high school and was constantly touring with blink in his late teens too. That's not to defend TOYPAJ though. That album sucks lyrically anyway. Blink should be looking at Enema & Dude Ranch when it comes to them kinda lyrics. Or even +44 with Cliff Diving & Baby Come On. Being 45-50 writing it is not, and is wrong for many reasons.

darkarrow
"Sometimes I sit at home and Wonder if she's sitting at home Thinking of me and wondering if I'm Sitting at home, thinking about her Or am I just wasting my time" "And it's happened once again I'll turn to a friend Someone that understands Sees through the master plan But everybody's gone And I've been here for too long To face this on my own Well I guess this is growing up" "I'm sick of always hearing All the sad songs on the radio All day it is there to remind an over sensitive guy That he's lost and alone, yeah" "Please stay until I'm gone I'm here hold on to me I'm right here Waiting and take My one last breath, and don't forget That I will be right here Waiting" I could keep going, but this post is long enough as it is. Can't forgive blink so much for songs like Parking Lot & Wildfire. California definitely has some great lyrics here and there though. I like San Diego, 6/8, Hey I'm Sorry & Long Lost Feeling when it comes to lyrics though.

So simple yet so blink. I haven't been this scared in a long time And I'm so unprepared so here's your valentine Bouquet of clumsy words, a simple melody This world's an ugly place, but you're so beautiful to me this. GATC’s chorus takes the cake for me as my top blink lyrics. the band could be wacky, but at their core they were unabashedly sentimental. take for example wasting time: “maybe if i act real tough / she’d let me hold her hand”. it’s not a far cry from the beatles’ i wanna hold your hand, just has other lyrics about farting lol heres some more of mine: ”this room is bored of rehearsal, im sick of the boundaries, i miss you so much” “You're cold with disappointment / While I'm drowning in the next room / The last contagious victim of this plague between us / i’m sick with apprehension / I'm crippled from exhaustion / And I dread the moment when you finally come to kill me” all of go is really really great too
