  1. I was just thinking about that today... I took so many photos of bands at that time, I can't believe I didn't bring my camera to the overnight video shoot. I do remember it was 12am call time and I think I finally left at like 6 or 7am when the sun was up and drove home super tired back to San Diego. Totally worth it, though. Wore my Swindle shirt for my extra work since I was a fan of those guys and Blink had a split 7" with them... they were super stoked I did that for them. I remember the original plan was to fill the theatre with fans, but they supposedly forgot to get the word out, so it was me, Anne, and maybe a couple other people in random seats around the theatre. I had to try not to laugh while Blink were acting all crazy in the theatre as I didn't want to ruin a shot. In the lobby, Rick was absolutely hilarious and the story in the book is true, the video was changed on the spot to feature him more. The two models were super quiet and were super out of place but were professionals, even when Mark accidentally tripped the dude. I just remember Darren Doane yelling at everyone to keep running back and forth. It was riduclous. The shot of Scott brushing the spilled popcorn off his head always made me laugh because Tom spilling the popcorn was absolutely not planned or staged.

  2. "they won't let me" is pretty glaring to me. I think one day a lot of truths will come out once the money/contracts don't matter anymore.

  3. Alright, inspired by you guys, I dove deep into my closet to find any Blink paraphernalia I could find. I didn't find all that much, but what I did find I wanted to share with you. If I find more stuff, I'll post in this thread. Photo 1: Two Blink-182 t-shirts (I believe they're new from when I did mail order for them), the Dude Ranch promo photo and bio I was given by Cargo/MCA for their first web site, a concert poster from 10/30/99 show in San Diego, a bunch of Blink pictures I took (that I already shared the digitzed versions of), and probably the most unique item, an original Blink (no -182) sticker. [https://i.imgur.com/qMiwYAc.jpg] Photo 2: Ticket stubs from a handful of Blink shows I went to. I've been to way more, but those venues likely didn't give me tickets when I was on the list. Ticket stubs from 12/31/94, 12/31/95, 12/15/96, 7/2/97, 11/26/97, 12/31/97, 4/26/98, 5/1/98, 6/12/99, and 6/30/99. [https://i.imgur.com/oAzARf9.jpg] Photo 3: This one's a bit different. I searched my email for any information about early Blink shows and came across two emails from Mark. Actually, I came across my replies as I don't have the incoming emails from that long ago for some reason. Anyway, I thought it was fun to see an old email, figured you guys would, too. (Mark, sorry if you still use this email address, it's public now.)

  7. While I would jokingly say 'MATT FORCED NOT TO WRITE CONFIRMED!!!' I think this is more likely due to the marketing/image they're trying to portray, blink have never really gone political. I hope this means some of the new alk3 record has some political commentary though.

  8. Matt Skiba walking along the track collecting stakes from the railroad is such a vivid image, it could be a music video or something. That is sooo Skiba ?

  10. Yea saw them in Nashville last night, they were amazing. Will post some pix in the Alk3 thread Monday. We got there 2 hours before doors opened and were killing time. My buddy and I walked by their bus and didn’t see anyone, so we turned the corner where some train tracks were to look around and I look up and said “Dude there’s Skiba!” just walking along the track. He walked right up to us! I said hey and asked for a pic and he said “Sure, let me put these in the bus” (3 stakes from the railroad he had taken LOL). Came right back out and talked with us for a few minutes with literally no one around. Their drummer Jerrod came over with his parents and we met him which was cool. If Alk3 is anywhere near you, go see them. Such a rad show.

  11. well, if you're only going to listen to a band's middle-age material, yea, they are gonna sound middle age. REM in the 80s were practically a punk band. aggressive, toured relentlessly, avoided MTV, stayed on an indie label, always did what they wanted to do, told everyone else to fuck off. as one writer put it: Younger [fans] who grew up on “Everybody Hurts” (or later even) may not realize it, but at one time R.E.M. was weird. Odd, angular, arty, fussy, and completely unwilling to contort themselves to fit pop music conventions. even early dave matthews band was a bit transgressive. under the table and dreaming isn't completely terrible. but when you only listen to a bands later, older material, sure. it sounds like dad rock. because they're dads.

  12. This is how I feel. I grew to love TDW with time and it's a great album, but I honestly would never get sick of their staple delayed guitars and long instrumental sections.

  13. That’s awesome lol, was it at an Alk3 show? Glad new Blink is on hold, they need to take their time on their music. Also glad they won’t let Skiba write about Trump - Blink has never had any political views in their music and lyrics, it would be weird to start now. Good news about Travis too.

  15. I much preferred them over bands like Good Charlotte, New Found Glory and All American Rejects. I feel really nostalgic at the minute, listening to loads from the early 2000’s.

  17. This reads a little ambiguously and I was initially worried you were looking to buy a shirt like this for a child in an attempt to groom them.

  18. That is absolutely awesome that you got those invoices! Jeff Forrest (two R's) is the man! I recorded a few projects at Doubletime and Jeff told us stories of recording Blink. From what I recall, Jeff supposedly came up with the line "And in my town you can't drive naked." He had a wacky sense of humor. Notice on the invoice there's no charge for the backing vocals line item? I believe that's because Jeff actually sang backups on one of the songs as well, so this is likely in reference to it, possibly written in on the invoice as a joke.

  19. If you count descendants era than yes it gets more difficult. I was thinking more Dookie onwards. Who the fuck is rocksound.com anyways? I still don't get why Self Titled isn't placed.
