I saw blink for the first time 15 years ago, seems like yesterday ?5 points

I definitely think the Love albums suffered from Tom focusing on quantity over quality. He was working on Neighborhoods, Love Part 1 and Love Part 2 all within a year. I think Neighborhoods kinda slightly suffered from it too, but Mark & Travis did focus shit loads on that album, which is a big reason why that album is solid despite Tom not being 100%. Plus blink fans just lost interest of AVA around that time. It was blink's come back album. If AVA release an album within 1-4 months of the new blink album, it'll be way better than what the Love albums were. Tom is 100% focused on AVA rather than half assing ideas back and forth between blink & AVA. Plus if blink release California Part 3, then the AVA album is probably gonna be better than what it actually is to most blink fans. At the moment, I've got low hopes for both the blink album and AVA album. I'm expecting some California Part 3 effort from blink and from the little clips I've heard from AVA, they're nothing special apart from maybe one of them.3 points

I love Blink. I was pretty late to the party and didn't get into them until late maybe like 2009-10, around the same time I was introduced to AVA. I had exposure well before then, but not enough access to my own music. I just love everything about AVA even more. Tom's lyrics have suffered for the last few releases, but all the stuff people complain about like long intros, grandiose lyrics, space vibes, repetitive ideas...I can't get enough. The Dream Walker is my least favorite album of theirs, but I can recognize it was a good direction for a lot of reasons.2 points

I really dig it. Halsey is a huge blink fan I think too and her voice suits this style of music more than her pop shit she releases2 points

Listening to those clips again, Tom knows how to work a guitar so much better than anyone in blink and it’s not even fair.2 points

No, not at all. But their first one is gold. Tremors and Crawl are some of the best pop punk I've heard2 points

Link's Awakening Switch remake looks pretty awesome. Huge surprise and it makes me happy to know that Nintendo is willing to do stuff like this. Last night I synced up the trailer with the original Game Boy intro music because I'm a bored idiot:2 points

Haha that's awesome man, teasing aside it's interesting to hear the perspective of someone who heard all of his stuff at once instead of being a Blink fan first!1 point

This is the first time I've heard him to be honest, I'll have to check out his other shit. But yeah not a fan of his voice in this song. Seems to be the acquired taste type. Tom is probably like that for a lot of listeners. People either love or hate his voice.1 point

Yeah Yungblud is going to blow up this year but can see why people wouldn’t dig him. He’s very 90s Brit pop, can hear his accent etc I like his voice though in the chorus it’s just his verse that feels out of place.1 point

As someone who loves AVA more than Blink (sorry guys), those demos get me super hyped.1 point

Mark is a good rhythm guitarist but yeah, no one beats Tom when it comes to pop punk guitar... and whatever you want to call ava1 point

If he did that it'd be a lot harder to deny that the songs are just a bit shit.1 point

I have a weird relationship with AVA because I somehow was able to make a pretty clean break after Blink broke up the first time. I was obviously curious what the former members of my favorite band were up to those first couple years, but once I saw Tom's nonsense interviews and I heard the first AVA album I knew I just wasn't interested at all. Same went for Travis's reality show haha. I liked +44 more but wasn't nearly as obsessed as I was with Blink. That mid-2000s era was pretty weird for each of them and also happened to coincide with a golden age of indie music that I was all in on. As AVA went on I checked out I-Empire and liked about 5 songs, then never listened to a full album of theirs again until Dream Walker, which was because Tom was back in Blink at that time so I got curious I guess. That didn't grab me either though. It's kinda weird to have one of my favorite and most influential singer/songwriters have an entire catalog of music that doesn't interest me at all haha, but it's just never worked for me. ....I'm still very interested in what he puts out next haha.1 point

Wolfpack is my favorite song from AvA. WDNTW is the best album though imo. It Hurts, The War, Adventure, Distraction.1 point

I dunno, Love pt 2 quickly followed Neighborhoods, but there was very little fanfare here for Love pt 2. All the same, i think most would also agree that Love pt 2 is the worst Angels album. That could have been a more interesting time if it were a better Angels album like I Empire or even Dreamwalker.1 point

Attention to this. He was blink's producer, yeah, but also the one behind side projects. Blink was produced by Finn from Enema to Untitled. BCR was produced by Finn, and also +44. Once he pased away, it all fell down.1 point
