  1. Songs awesome. New Ava. New blink. More simple creatures. You guys can bicker all you want but I’m riding this hype train all year long.

  2. Can we acknowledge for a sec @Donald Trump's Bulge is back in town? Huge bonus to everyone's life nqat.

  3. I apparently might be able to review the album before it comes out, we'll see. if so yay!

  4. I think it's a lot easier for people to not care about certain aspects of AVA being back because it isn't blink and isn't trying to be. It isn't in the name of and attached to the legacy of our favourite band of all time. if Tom releases a dog turd of an AVA album it has no bearing on blink-182 as a band. blink-182 continuing with different members, producers, and writers is no longer blink-182 so thats why people get more upset and agitated by that. I think Tom is a total toss pot and a bit of a lunatic, and I don't give him any of my money for those reasons, but I like a handful of later AVA stuff so I listen on Spotify. I like that stuff more so than recent blink and that's just unbelievably depressing. I will continue to give the music a chance, and be entertained by him, because even though he's made me furious over the years and a lot of his antics are total bull, I genuinely believe a lot of it has more to do with him having a few screws loose than it does with him being a dick. and considering what's allegedly gone on in his personal life I'm curious to see how it effects him and changes him as time goes on. With Mark his sanity has never been the question - he's always been 100% about blink, so the fact that he happily will let people slice it to pieces and rob it of any substance is in some ways more upsetting. I was most upset with Tom when he was parading around blink shows in a LOVE T-shirt. he was clearly there just to profit and didn't care about blink being back at all - well is it really that different that Mark would rather bugger off with the dude from ATL and make synth pop music and rely on other writers and producers to carve out a blink album just so he can pump out more change? People give blink a harder time because they care more about blink and it's legacy as a whole.

  5. I understand the point, but the differences, to me, are pretty evident. - Tom didn't mess with blink's songs or legacy, unless you consider Blink's evolution from Untitled to DED as a mess or whatever. To me, is not. The three of them were pushing the limits forward, results may vary depending on your taste, though. Moreover, they were already sell outs when doing that. I'm fine with that, but not with the way they approached California era when Tom was out, and not whith the way they are working on this album -although we have to see how is the result-. - AvA is just that, exactly: a small side project. It started as an ambitious band which was going to make a revolution and all the blah blah painkiller-high-Tom said, but it ended up being what it is now. For what he uses the money which may raise from this tour, now that is HIS band, is HIS business -except if there's any ethical problem on there-. - Aaron is a member of the band, so I pressume he's a co-writer, of course, and bringing ideas to the table sounds normal to me in this situation. He joined as drummer and multiinstrumentalist. I don't like him, but he's a member who, also, produces side by side with his brother. Is like criticize Critter (RIP), who was the brain behind AvA's debut album's production, or Mr. Finn.

  6. For once hes putting stuff without a mention of TTS but yet he's still an asshole? Colour me confused

  7. 31 is much worse than 30. With 30 you're like, "Fuck yeah, new decade, fresh start!" Then you turn 31 and realize you've already wasted a year, 10% of the new decade, and did pretty much jack-shit and are pretty much still where you were the year before. PS, I've decided I like Rebel Girl in the same exact way I like Simple Creatures album. Fuck, Tom and Mark should've done a synth-trash-pop side project.

  8. Yeah, he is an asshole. For all the previous things he has done; like scamming people out of money for TTS under false pretenses. Like signing a Blink record contract committing him to record and then backing out. Like not having the balls to ever tell anyone face to face that he is leaving the band. All kinds of stuff. I am probably somewhere in between Ghent and the Tombots in my views. Yes, Blink has shit up their legacy. Yes, I was hoping Tom would swoop in and give us some great music that Blink hasn't been able to really deliver on. But it doesn't change the fact that Tom is a complete piece of shit. You guys are trying to erase history here.

  9. It's hilarious because when the new alk3 record came out I fully expected to hate it because I haven't loved one of their albums in a long, long time and because Matt did such weak shit with blink - and then it was bloody marvellous. so I'm now like "blink guys what the actual damn hell are you doing, you're all crapping across the board". I wish I cared anywhere near as much about other bands. like I like other bands, but blink is embedded into so much of my history and personality now - it's never going to be the same. when other artists disappoint me it's "oh well", when blink disappoint me it's both hilariously typical and also devastating each time. I don't know if that's a universal thing here or if I'm just a total nutter. it's probably the latter.

  12. True, I guess a lot of it depends on whether you think he's a con man intentionally stealing peoples' money or just an insane person.

  13. It's simple, if he wanted an easy cash grab he would have stayed in blink. He didn't, he wanted to follow his passion. Some of you guys made fun of him for dream walker not selling. You made fun of him having his headquarters in a space that used to be an autoshop back in the day. You made fun of AVA not making any money, but now when AVA is making a real comeback as a real band it's all for the cash - that according to you guys didn't exist in the AVA project ?!?!?!?!?!?!

  14. Honestly, if the music is going to be good, I could care less why he's making music again.

  15. Yeah. Aaron answered a question about album release date on instagram and he said “when its finished”. They’re still recording.

  17. Outside of the punk realms I’ve been checking out Guided By Voices and Nine Inch Nails since last winter, Big Star, Elvis Costello, Songs:Ohia, Ween, Big Thief, Bill Callahan, LCD Soundsystem too because I never actually listened to them outside of the New York I Love You song. And some dreampop stuffs: Cocteau Twins, Galaxie 500. Punk-rock/pop punk related stuffs: I finally gave a chance to PUP! Then Royal Headache, Red City Radio, Swain, Adventures, that old punk band called X from LA (which is more than just a punk band) Remo Drive and Prince Daddy and the Hyena are two bands I’m keeping an eye on this year because I think their new albums will be good, based on the singles I've recently heard. Sorry for the long post!!

  20. Yeah I'm 30 now too and I know what you mean. my tastes have drastically changed over the years, but the core bands I loved as a teenager are still things I'll keep tabs on, regardless of what the outcome is. the Brand New thing as well just... just sucked so much haha like that's more disappointing than anything that happened with blink, because Science Fiction is an absolute belter that I feel uncomfortable listening to now and it's like "great, forever ruined".

  22. That's one of my faves as well. What do you think about the album as a whole? I had to rearrange the songs, but after that I think it's the best they've done since Kingwood!

  24. Bingo. Thats where im at. I love the new song, so of course i’ll say good things about rubins, how ava is back, touring etc etc. If i’d dislike the song i wouldnt be as positive. See how all the people who dont like the song complain and people who like it dont? Its the same thing with blink i guess.

  27. Okay. You are moving goal posts. Try to stay focused here. The discussion here is on Tom's motivations behind AVA and just overall who he is. The clear answer there is: He is a piece of shit. Any decent human will arrive at that conclusion with viewing the facts. That's all I am saying. There has been a lot of bullshit and a lot of rewriting history in this topic the last couple of days because people are gaga over his new music. There is nothing wrong with liking his new music. Nothing wrong with being excited that AVA has returned. But when you start slobbing his knob and forgetting history; you need a reminder!

  28. Indeed. When i think about his past actions i start to hate him a little bit. But why do that now. Its in the past. Sure he can be weird and do weird shit. I mean, if people invest in his company, well tough shit for them being so fucking dumb, and not seeing they will never get that money back. Blink is doing fine. AVA is back. Side project from Mark. We have new music. Its time to move on.

  29. Yeah, neither me. I just was trying to expose situations. If we talk on an explicit way about his behaviour when blink went shambles -because he went bananas, basically-, yeah, we can't foget his struggles there and how them affected the band. He made some dirty moves there.

  33. None of these logos ever appeared on the guitar. The pill logo simply because that did not appear until Enema of The State, in 1999 long after this guitar was retired. The only black circled star that appeared was on his wine red Les Paul. The "rock stickers 23" sticker is the seller on eBay, Etsy, etc. making the sticker sets. However, any new possible pictures, sources, items of the like are more than welcome to be shared. The only stickers we have confirmed on the back are the large Descendents, Guttermouth, 7 Seconds, and Indecision. And welcome to the boards, Matty!

  34. Damn i was excited for new tom music, but seeing ghent's view on the whole blink situation crumble as well is hilarious. So many contradictions, you cant make that stuff up

  35. I don't know, I'm sure making money for TTS is part of the equation but it doesn't make anything any better or worse. Currently we have: Blink 1Skiba2: Writing songs with multiple radio pop producers/songwriters for their new album after previously releasing 30 songs co-written by John Feldmann Tom: Writing songs for the first time in 4 years with AVA and releasing them/touring potentially with the hopes of making more money for To The Stars because the company is weird and possibly in shambles Neither one is all that great, but Tom's situation certainly isn't any LESS "noble" than Blink's right now. It's not like Blink are toiling in the studio making this grand artistic statement that they will release and then give all profits to charity or something.

  38. I dont get why people get so hung up weather its for money or not. Maybe he does need the money, and thought "hey I could make an album and go on a little tour, i havent done that in a while, that would be fun". And thats how he makes some money. Some of you will find the negative in anything

  39. Why is the WHY so important when Ava does music, but if blink is hiring feldman/chainsmoker/pharell/whatsoever you guys scream " i don't care about anything but the music?" The cash surely is a good bonus for tom, but he never made career choices based on revenue. If he did he would still be in blink and ava never happend Also the break up with his wife surely is a big motivation to put himself up on a stage and being admired by fans

  40. I'm guessing his passion levels are about the same as Mark's right now, which means passionate enough to devote time to record new music to have fun and make some money because it's what he's always been good at in his life even though he doesn't necessarily have any new specific creative/artistic inspiration. I mean the guy was away from music for a longgg time, he said he was stepping back from music to do all that crazy shit and he did, for over 4 years. He hasn't played live since October 2014. He never said he was retiring. Not sure how long everyone wanted him to stay away for it to seem "real."

  41. He's such a weirdo and I can't say the song has grown on me at all, it's full cringe fest, but goddamn... he still makes me laugh. that figure skating tight pants thing is so dumb and so him.

  43. It's hard to hate because it's such a great show as a whole, but it really jumped shark to the point it was depressing. Dwight was like pulling out full swords and lighting off rockets in the office, the new characters all blew and easily the least likeable of the entire series. I'm not the biggest Steve Carrell fan, but he definitely glued it together.
