  1. I just find it hysterical that people think the shit posting here is some passionate angry people constantly posting whilst spitting rage and boohooing in the corner just because blink doesn't sound the way they want them to. Do you know why I post here? I get bored, talking shit on the internet is entertaining, and blink is the only subject I'd choose if I had to go play mastermind. That's literally it, if this place closed tomorrow the overall impact it would have on my life would be minimal, I'd just end up spending more time on reddit to compensate. No one here is genuinely heart broken or furious or cry wanking over the current state of blink. it's old fans who are invested enough to continue checking the music out but continuously disappointed and like having a place to moan about it before wambling onto the next thread. No one gives anywhere near as much of a fuck as some clearly think they do.

  2. are we really having a discussion on who is a real blink fan and who isn't? what afucking shitshow, felt so embarassed reading the last few pages of grown men defending their fandom for a band. grow the fuck up.

  4. Finally got around to getting the blink baseball cards I made printed: Trav: Mark: Tom: Matt (Felt bad he only had 1, so made another): I had two sets made, I think I may give them each their respective set next week at VIP. Even if they toss it straight in the trash, I think they're cool lol.

  5. Multiple pages of arguing and text walls without any particularly new opinions followed by a mutual razzing of Oliver and his ridiculous claims. This is the stuff that keeps me here.

  7. That's a fair comment, I didn't see that post. I think the mud slinging just gets a bit pathetic from both sides, I suppose it's only natural for me to notice the side who generally has a differing opinion to mine. I know I criticise the new line up a bit but I feel I can at least make rational points about why I think that. I don't think I have ever seen any of the fanboys (other than Rybread) actually counter with anything interesting to say, you either get called a Tombot, a wannabe music producer or some other shitty generic one liner.

  8. Yeah, I always found it weird how some people think the criticism aimed at blink by some of us (I'm one of the vocal ones about it) means we are raging and crying about it. I don't think of it that way. I just simply state my points and opinion in a calm and rational matter. I mean that's how I feel like when I'm typing them out haha. It isn't like we are 10 year old kids, smashing up our keyboards and fuming about a shit blink song. People do that with PS4 or Xbox, not music. What I can say is that most of the more negative critics of blink in recent years are just guys that still love blink and always will love blink, and are passionate about blink. We'll always check out new blink because blink is a big part of our lives. Majority of us have posted and looked on these forums for years. We're part of the community. We just feel blink are capable of way more. We are still here because we hope blink might release amazing shit again. We feel disappointed but at the same time, we aren't actually bothered. Like Kay mentioned, some of us are bored and some wanna pass time. These boards are cool for that kinda stuff. Debating and shit like that. We'd rather debate over shit we are passionate about. Just because we criticise blink, it don't mean we aren't fans. Same goes for the likes of the Kansas Krew and Rybread. Just because they seem to love everything blink do since Tom left, doesn't mean they aren't real fans either. You got davey, who is passionate about blink. He loves the Raynor era of blink but is vocal about the 99-05 era of blink. But he seems to actually like Neighborhoods and California. You got a lot of us who love every form of blink until Tom left. But there's still songs we love after all that. I fucking love Los Angeles and Long Lost Feeling. Blink might release a lot of awful shit in my opinion, but they still have way better songs and are more consistent than any other band that is around IMO. California has almost 30 songs and I like 10 of them. Other bands will have a whole album where I don't like it or only like 1 song. Blink are still the best there is for me. I just feel blink are capable of having an album where every song is damn good. But blink is a big part of my life. They're a huge influence on me. I like the two new songs, although I'm still a bit divided on BIOMY even if I do like it. Just those damn gang vocals let it down for me. All I can do is make a playlist of the best blink songs in the Skiba era of blink, and call that playlist my blink-182 album. And I'll be vocal about what I like and don't like on these boards. Cause there's sometimes about an hour in my day where I just wanna sit down, chill out with a lucozade bottle and sit at my desktop with my Macbook on and debate something I'm passionate about. Blink-182 is the best.

  10. “Also, I have a life outside of this board. Getting laid all weekend. I don't have time to record a song.” This part and dans gif is probably the hardest I’ve ever laughed at a post on these boards. I can just picture Oliver typing that comment thinking he’s the absolute man. Hilarious.

  11. There’s extremists on both sides as well as rational thinkers. For every time Ghent calls someone a racist, Oliver claims he can out-write and out-perform current blink. People talk shit. We might get real deep into it every now and again but nobody is losing sleep over it.

  12. yeah basically my feelings. I just didn't pay attention to Scotts post because it seemed more like trolling than anything else, people seriously engaging with it had me a bit like "really? you think he's serious?" Whilst I disagree with people like RyBread he always puts efforts into discussions, brings the news most of the time, and isn't usually overly childish or insulting. it's the "can't have a negative opinion or you're a tombot racist" side of it that gets incredibly tiresome. That being said, we also have that trolling knobhead on our side of things who just comes across as a fucking idiot (Oliver makes good points, or whatever he's called) so there's douchery on both sides.

  13. I don’t care if people like the new blink or not. Just weird that they would spend so much time on a fan forum talking about how much they dislike something. I can’t imagine investing that much effort into something I genuinely don’t like anymore.

  15. Because we grew up with them and being a close fan of them is part of identity so even though we're not happy we still hang around on the off chance it'll improve and we're super disappointed when it doesn't. If your dad dumps your mum and starts banging a bimbo, do you stop calling him to check in?

  16. I think Blink needs to stop trying so hard. Mark and Travis are great producers and they're all great musicians. Neighborhoods, +44, and CTTM/MDL are all produced well enough. Instead they either keep trying to sound like basic pop-punk or do something drastically different that still feels soulless. They need to play to their strengths and make a good rock album. I don't care if it's produced like Enema or not - just do it tastefully and honestly. They can make great music if they just do what is organic. That is the most frustrating part as a fan following the Cali era.

  17. surprisingly on topic, i went to an antique store today and found hella blink stickers, from between 1998-2000. i wound up buying the knight, crappy punk rock, and the red circle B. i think the ones on the top left were also tour laminates from TMT&TS tour?

  18. I wouldn't go that far, mostly it's just entertaining. You don't, and shouldn't, have to be pigeonholed into a certain demographic to be entertained by a show. It's just entertainment. Sometimes he has great guests on (I enjoy when he has historians on or medical professionals personally) ... other times he has shitty guests on (I don't listen to the ufc episodes or the health trend weirdos or even most of the comedians and musicians). It's a toss up. Although, I admit I do enjoy the provocateurs that come on but that's my sense of humor. I don't expect to be rallied with and fed opinions I agree with, I don't need that sort of thing. I just need something entertaining.

  21. yes...for overproducing usually. bare bones of a song for this purpose isn't going to bump anyone. if it concerns you I can post a badly recorded original song as well, could literally go through my archives of crap and sling it on here.

  22. This is very true. That's why Dammit sounds good no matter how you play it. It's a well written song. Simple but effective and that has nothing to do with studio effects or number of tracks used. Sure, effects and layers help but a good song is a good song is a good song.

  23. @Donald Trump's Bulge a truly good composition is good even if it's stripped down to guitar (or piano or whatever) and vocals. Extra instruments and slick production can obviously make the listening experience better, but their absence won't make a song bad. Similarly, the best production and recording techniques can't make a bad song good, that's just polishing a turd.

  24. Exactly. I love this band, I have for 18 years. I was obsessed with them for about 10 years of that. I don’t recognise this blink, i don’t think you can get rid of Mark or Tom and continue the band. Mark is destroying Blink’s legacy imo.

  25. I reckon if FOB released BIOMY we’d all be pissing ourselves and questioning what had happened to them but because it’s blink (not my fucking blink) it’s a great song. It’s pure trash. It’s worse than Parking Lot no wum.

  26. Shit has certainly changed around here. And not only Blink's music. Never have I seen, in the 15 years I have been on this site, so much whinging and bitching between people. Why can people just accept others' opinions? Without blasting someone purely because they don't have the same opinion? I'm definitely not the biggest fan of their new stuff. At all. I just can't get sold on Skiba as much as some do. And I think Mark is trying way too hard too. But that's just my opinion. I'm not going to flame on people for thinking differently!

  27. This is pretty much spot on, most people here who criticise Blink have fairly well thought out rational points that create discussion. What Ghent appears to want is a bunch of dribbling morons who can barely string a sentence together other than 'I LISTEN 2 BLINK IN MI CAR ON DA WAI 2 WORK 2DAY, SO GUD DUD!'

  28. I think you’ve misunderstood what I’ve been saying. Never have I said people shouldn’t give their input. I’ve been saying people who no longer like the band probably shouldn’t listen to them if it’s not to their taste anymore rather than get riled up and keep posting the same negative comments over and over. Davey says he still enjoys listening to them for the most part. He even said he liked Parking Lot which in my opinion is one of the worst blink songs they’ve ever released. I’m lukewarm on the new stuff too. I’ve said this. This isnt something I’m arguing against. How you feel about the band is pretty much the same as me. I was just commenting on the people who constantly bitch and moan like they’re expecting every release to be a lost track from untitled even though they’ve spent the days leading up to the release already criticising it and saying it’ll be terrible. Anyway this is the last I’m gonna say on the subject. Everyone is misinterpreting what I’m saying and it’s pointless to continue. (And I’ve never said anyone is a true fan or isn’t a fan regarding what era they like or dislike. That’s been done by many people, not by me. No one has the right to say someone isn’t a fan of the band because they like certain songs).

  32. I'm actually on your side Oliver. Anytime you posted guitar I liked it. It was those other people that say it's bad. You could post the greatest song ever and they will say it sucks because Mark, Matt, and Feldsham have access to the worlds best equipment.

  33. he's like the smartest dumb guy so I think he attracts a particular crowd. but also, I think once people found out that the guy who wrote I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell was a fraud, they had to find somebody else to guide them.

  34. To be fair, for every one actually well thought out and rational point that gets posted criticising blink there two posts from Scott, jan or Oliver that are complete rubbish and add absolutely nothing. This was just two pages back: ”Anyone happy with BIOMY is on a wum and not a real fan imo” There’s nothing rational or well thought out about that. And unfortunately cause the bullshit posts like that tend to outnumber the actual well thought out ones 2:1 most people just see the bullshit.

  35. Fair enough. I just think the true blink fans are the ones who follow through thick and thin, who would love to use BIOMY as toilet paper if it wasn't digital only, who keep following the band even after 2.5 shitty releases. And blink didn't use to be my favorite band, they ARE my favorite band, I'm just beyond underwhelmed by this Skiba and Friends catastrophe. By your logic, Davey Jones shouldn't be on the boards giving his input because he thinks they started selling out during Dude Ranch or some shit. Sorry the majority of blink fans are lukewarm on the new shit and are voicing it...?

  37. Jeez guys, no one is crying because of blink. Yet the Markbots seem to be crying because there are people who dare to be critical. Lousy fans huh? I can only speak for myself, but I don‘t wanna miss it when blink releases music I truly love again. Plus this place is fun, what problem does anyone actually have?!

  38. You guys are so cool. Imagine Oliver in blink. Oliver “Hey mark and Travis I just totally wrote our next big hit. It only took me like 5 minutes to write it lyrics and all. It was so easy!” Mark and Travis “ sweet can we hear it?” Oliver “Well no, my amp isn’t currently as good as the previous guys, and my lyric sheet is crumpled a bit and I uh need new strings on my guitar. Uh, You guys would just say it’s shit right away anyway so I’m not going to show it to you. But I totally did write it and it was so easy!”

  41. I don't know. I wish they just released shit like this normally and not as a "response" to fans - like, I can't tell if this is either an actual attempt at a punk song for them (if it was, a bit of a bummer considering the over-producing "punk" sound and subsequent filming of a video with an extremely hyper-exaggerated archetype of what "punk" looks like) - or if they're just taking the piss and trying to be a literal hyperbole and fully aware of how ironic this all seems. I can't make up my mind if I like the song or not, but I guess it's going in the direction I'd like to see "new" blink go rather than the last releases. It reminds me of when Tom said he was releasing the most "punk thing he's ever done" and it was a video of a bunch of teenagers skateboarding around an empty pool. It just screams to me

  42. New theory: they threw away bunch of songs for this album. Maybe the songs they release this early are throwaway troll songs.
