  1. This kid needed some Coach Corey Wayne in his life. He exhibited needy behavior which cause him to get rejected.

  2. Good god, I thought it was just an extremely cheesy and amateurish version of a story we've seen in a million videos before, but then the woe-is-me bloody violence turn was straight out of some kind of fucked up incel message board shit. Absolutely awful.

  3. jeeeeeeesus. that is a shallow, terrifically bad music video

  5. Tons of people are miserable with their significant others and would gladly trade it for bachelor life lol (not me personally, but just saying). My uncle couldn't wait to get divorced and was the happiest I had seen him at 50...and he found someone else later on. Quit looking so far ahead and just enjoy your days man, for instance, today you can look forward to this Rebel Girl video? LOL. But seriously, life is too short to (*not gonna reference BTD*) be miserable worrying all the time...

  6. You seem like you waste all of your time NOW worrying about the future. You’ve always been obsessed with aging. Just enjoy your life dude. The fact that we all fade into dust should make you cherish the present, you’re pretty lucky you weren’t born in the dark ages. Listen to Cali and enjoy! Edit:I struggle with this too, more in the form of anxiety, but you gotta fight it man. We’re a blip of dust hanging out on a rock in space. Just try.

  7. The only interruption to a music video I've ever liked was the first date video with the girl on the bike getting fucked up. Beyond that? Just play the stupid song and get the damn thing over with ... subtitle it if you REALLY have to put dialogue in there; cut the voices, show the lips move and subtitle it.

  8. Better easy ideas they could've gone with: 1. The teenagers are all cutesy and lovey dovey and cheesy and it cuts between them (taking place in the past) and them as adults (in the present) and we see them trying to work out some kind of fight or recapture their youthful love or something 2. Two adults going to an AVA show, hurt/mixed feelings ensue throughout the night, they come back together in the end 3. Say fuck it and just release a behind the scenes of AVA recording type of music video Any of those would've been better than this junk haha

  9. Not only is the video terrible, it sends an awful message to teenagers. It’s surprising to me how any marketing team at Rise would allow this to be made with how the discourse on friend-zoning and teenage obsession has turned totally negative in the last ten years.

  10. but seriously "Tommy" he called the fucking kid "Tommy" just what.

  11. Just gonna post what I said about the video in the AVA thread here as I imagine this'll have more traction - Wow. that was fucking stupid. Makes blinks stupid 'durr teenagers like skateboards and vinyl records' video for BTD look way more palatable in comparison. just the fuck haha, like I was into the feel of it until the stupid "omg he's here he has a motorcycle" thing and the wah wah little friend zone mental freak out at the end (sidebar - he named the character Tommy? really?). the 'story' and the performance aspect really don't gel well together either, the contrast colours and abysmal lighting of the performances mixed with the soft focus story just clashed horribly. also the fuck to the titles... Jesus lol.

  12. Skiba does write the songs. The whole band does. They collaborate with songwriters and producers in the studio, it's not that big of a deal

  13. I always liked the Rock Show music video.

  14. Still cringing an hour later. Since AVA/TTS is a "transmedia" experience I assume they either created or at least had full say in the awfulness of the video, and if not then what's the point of all the "transmedia" talking points anyway? I literally kept expecting it to get funny in some way due to the cheesiness of the acting scenes + the light hearted/sentimental vibes of the song, but nope. So gross and also so stupid coming from Tom and his "inspirational/positive minded" band who are making their triumphant return with this song.

  15. Brilliant video, I wish blink would have the artistic creativity to push boundaries and do something different.

  16. And Tom is definitely the guy on the motorcycle. Blink fans keep going back to Tom even though he's a bad addiction who just wants to use them. Mark can't stand it but he can't stop torturing himself.

  17. I think this song is about Mark. Tom is the Rebel Girl and Mark is constantly punching himself because he can't write a song as good as him anymore.

  18. The video is fine, stop being so dramatic. It's a music video from AvA, it's no worse or better than any of their others, except maybe The Adventure, that music video was gay as fuck. I don't know what you expected.

  21. I think this is the creepiest Tom has ever been in a video. What do they have to shoot him close-up so much? But I think in general the video really fits the song.

  22. If nothing matters, neither does old age and any pain it might bring. That's life; might as well enjoy it while it lasts.

  23. Its not an obsession. Just a valid point in a topic about Mark. I honestly don't care. Removing the whole idea of them not writing their own music.....there are a few good songs on California. But so much potential has been tossed out the window. That has been the problem with Blink post 2004. They are operating at about 30% of their potential. Making very basic and obvious errors in how the band is managed and simply don't have any magic left outside of being a tribute band. We could discuss why people feel this way; but it would feature your one liners and just overall ignoring basic facts. 3-4 years now and you still can't answer very basic points.

  24. It's really not very good, she managed to make fun, catchy songs boring and unlistenable.

  26. yea i have to agree. i mean, i like colleen's lo-fi slower stuff too. but why bass only? the m+m's cover was so good!

  27. Same people who mock Blink for being too immature are saying that was good. @Ghent has got a point there. This video was pathetic, and the fact that people are okay with Tom writing to teenagers as a 40 something year old man is very hypocritical.

  28. Music videos are pointless. I don't even see the point of watching them "jam out" when they're just lip syncing for the video anyways.

  30. I'm starting to think recruting Skiba was a bad idea. If they got a stand-in guitarist who just played the songs, fans could come up and sing some Tom songs at the live shows or something and Mark and Trav could collaborate with whoever (including Skiba) in the studio. Recruiting one of the best songwriters in the genre and then using other writers is just fucking dumb.

  31. Matt Rubano, formerly the bassist of Taking Back Sunday has joined AVA. O.T.: Where You Want To Be is a masterpiece. Don't mind this post. This was news from 3 weeks ago. ?

  32. Yea man, not a good outlook. I think he was crushed when Mark picked Skiba over him to join blink. Hasn't been the same since.

  34. I have way more respect for these guys now. They had some stupid teeny stuff but they were great musicians, Gerard was a great writer who didn't need writers for hire, and knew when to break up and stay broken up. Some of their stuff is actually really good.

  37. Yeah this is the easy conclusion after all these years. I liked +44, it didn't stick with me all that much but I liked it WAYYY more than AVA. It was clearly a very focused and inspired piece of work by Mark and that type of thing is pretty rare no matter who you are. Other than that album he and Tom have proven over and over that they are 1000x better together than alone. It sucks that their personalities don't mesh anymore because the spark they had as a songwriting team still keeps all of us here long after it's been gone haha.

  38. Huge stretch. His production was a huge key to the explosion of those albums. I don't recall any videos of Finn taking selfies with "the boyz" and going around telling anyone he wrote Bored to Death

  40. after the hiatus, i was a huge markbot... his studio updates, blogs, and posts kept up updated during the rough times. i still feel a lot of sympathy for him then because all he wanted was his band back and tom just shrugged him off for years. as an observer, and i’m not sure this is true, to me it appears that his creativity began to suffer. in interviews he says he doubts himself every time before he writes a song, which may have been the way it always was, but it certainly seems amplified now. perhaps his confidence suffered as a result of years of nothingness. when the same man who single-handedly pt together WYHSB felt comfortable putting his name on california, it became difficult as a fan to support him. he began to seem more guarded in interviews, with more pre-rehearsed responses and stories than ever. he definitely has an arrogant attitude on occasion, what with the fans onstage debacle lately. but all that said, i can’t really dislike the man. fan fiction here, but i think he may have a bit of depression/anxiety these days. all he wants to do is have fun and play blink songs, and he deserves to be able to do that. we should also offer him the space to experiment with a pop-focused albums that are written by committee.

  41. I still love him but he honestly annoys me more than Tom does these days.

  42. I always thought Mark was the asshole of the group. I don't think he was or is a bad guy or anything, I just think he always seemed more full of himself than Tom, Scott or Travis. I think he has it in him to be a real douche when he wants to be. I also think he worked hard to control it and build a different image of himself. I'd hang with him anyday, he seems cool and fun enough and all my heroes are assholes anyway so we would get along. I just wouldn't put it past him to not always do what's best for Mark and be advantageous at someone else's expense.
