I swear I've been on a blink-182 high for the past month. I started listening to Enema of the State a lot last month to get me hyped for my blink show. When I saw blink it was amazing. Now we have a new album, and it's great. We've been getting a steady stream of Simple Creatures songs lately, new Angels & Airwaves music, that mashup with Lil Wayne, and that random cover Mark dropped earlier today. In less than two weeks I'm going to see Angels & Airwaves. This is some of the most fun I've had as a blink-182 fan since I was in high school, seriously.7 points

I've been all over the place since I saw the divorce papers to be honest, I really don't mean to take it out on you, it's just so fucking hard sometimes - keep going into the toilets at work every half hour or so and bawling my eyes out.5 points

Its kind of hard to claim victory for yourself when a good 80% of the people out there were pretty convinced they separated like 2 years ago. Only the hardcore avamovement tombots really thought otherwise. Those same people have now transitioned into "its none of your business".4 points

I don't know that I've ever given a shit or a second thought about their wives, kids or personal lives outside of their music and Blink 182.3 points

There is no such thing as a hardcore AvA fan. Just leftover blink fans that will take whatever scraps Tom gives them.3 points

While I prefer one of the new AVA to the new blink stuff in general, Tom has never been the most personal writer, I highly doubt much of any of the new record will be about his divorce, and even if it was we'd have no fucking idea because his lyrics would be nonsensical gibberish.3 points

My interpretation is basically: Angel wings at the bus stop = kids being killed to early due to mass shootings Halo left on top of the bar = adults being killed to early due to mass shooting And then because all these people have been killed too early, "Heaven doesn't want me now” because it’s not their time.3 points

I was listening to No Heart To Speak Of two minutes ago and I nearly cried at my desk at work, so I had stop the song and move forward to Ransom ?2 points

I still love BIOMY and think it represents "blink in 2019" perfectly........?♂️2 points

I really love the album art. Seeing the physical copies with the parental advisory sticker... it's a beauty2 points

Ah that makes sense too! Hopefully another detailed "track by track" thingy comes out, always enjoy reading deeper insight from the band and how they arrived at the final product. (Side Note: Wish more bands would release demos/notes/thoughts on song creation after albums come out. Easy $$$ from hardcores for stuff that is just laying around.)2 points

sometimes fast, fun, and furious wrecked him seemingly forgotten, but blink learning who they were emo one of my all-timers. raw lyrics and great bassline wendy clear catchy as all hell, interesting subject matter roller coaster honest, intriguing, and the classic blink sound go one of the deepest and heavy blink songs ever. after midnight i feel like a lot of people dislike AM. i've been a big fan of it since it came out. great combo of tom's new guitar style (i.e., U2) with blink long lost feeling one of the few matt-era songs i find to be lacking in love. for once, non-formulaic structure, great melody2 points

"pin the grenade" is a "head-bobbing ska rocker" sounds like the reviewer has never listened to ska music...2 points

I had no idea that was out already! I still don't have a Switch but I can't wait to play that eventually. I just replayed the Game Boy version last year.1 point

I agree traveling overseas is weird. I don’t think hanging out with Kari locally is weird, they probably have a lot of the same friends through Tom after twenty years together, especially since they all worked together.1 point

Man, I love the album cover. Glad they did away with the cartoon comic look of California. That didn't suit blink at all.1 point

"We will give you the album early to review but you have to make sure you give it a really score and suck our dicks loads" Pretty much always been the case with these early exclusive reviews, don't get me wrong - I like the album but 3.5/4 out of 5 is what it should it be scoring in my opinion, it is not a flawless album - even the biggest fan boy can't even make that claim.1 point

I know this is hard to comprehend, but sometimes people just don’t like being around each other anymore. Not everything is about cheating and there being someone else.1 point

Hmmm I guess the verses just have no hint of that to me. (Whereas Black Rain has clear references of tragedy/getting news that your kid died/monsters/etc.) The way I interpret that is: Angel wings at the bus stop = innocence as a kid Halo left on top of the bar = essentially losing that innocence as an adult, and leaving it all behind And then because of that, "Heaven doesn't want me now." Which makes more sense in context with their verses, where Mark is discussing us just being here to rot and Matt goes into a story about doing someone wrong. Obviously this sounds like a shooting though: Showed up like shadows in this crowd Brought the fire blinding Came here to quickly tear us down, down, down... Interesting! I haven't really taken a full dive into lyrics yet, but stoked to get my vinyl and make a night of it.1 point

Listened to the album a lot this weekend. My top 5 at the minute: On some emo shit No heart to speak of Darkside Heaven Run Away.1 point

darkside and pin the grenade both employ the silent break in instruments preceding the second verse -- more feldy boring pop songwriting tricks1 point

I gave it another two listens. I hate the drums. The hip hop beats, the effects on them, sounding like a drum machine. Travis is talented yes, but a lot of it is out of place to me and just bad sounding to me. Sometimes less is more. I hate the electronica. I don't like it. It's not blink. Lyrics are kinda weak. I hate that they're using songwriters. We know both Mark and Matt can write so they should be. I like the first track minus the drum effects, Darkside, Ransom (minus the electronica half), Generational Divide and Pin The Grenade. A few of the others I can take it or leave it. I absolutely hate BIOMY, IRWIHY, the last track and Black Rain. Just not my thing. If the bar wasn't set so low to begin with I'd probably hate the entire record altogether. I like California more. It's ok but nothing special. Just my two cents.1 point
