  2. I was browsing the Blink sub on Reddit yesterday, and came across a guy in the comments of a post claiming to have unreleased footage from the Zane Lowe interview. I messaged him asking if he could share and low and behold he sent it my way. Just a couple clips that didn't make it for whatever reason but super interesting answers they give to a few questions. Dives a bit deeper into some touchy subjects

  7. on february 17, 1995 cheshire cat was released on grilled cheese/cargo records on both cassette and compact disc. a vinyl release (the "red eyes" edition) would not follow until the summer of 1996. in honor of the album's original release, here are some gems from that time... cargo announced the release with this sheet, mailed to record stores, venues, and show promoters. note that the release date of "17" is handwritten as there were some delays and uncertainty about when the album would be ready. the formats listed are both CD and cassette. this is the first release on the "grilled cheese" imprint for cargo, with a catalog number of GRL-001: the mailing also came with the band's 8x10 promo photo glossy: but the band had been circulating the album as an advance cassette for weeks prior with two different covers xeroxed on goldenrod cardstock, because the tapes were ready before the J-cards were: so the tape inside was just the same as the one released on february 17: there's been confusion over the years regarding the album's release date, because the (P) and (C) are noted as 1994. that's because the album was mastered and pressed before the new year. remember, this is early in the year. so no 182 yet! the band would not make the name change official until august 3, 1995. pressings of cheshire cat carrying the name change were first sold on the good times tour in the fall of that year. the cassette release had a simpler version of the band's thank you notes: the CD had more elaborate artwork featuring photography by kerry key. note that the picture of scott was taken in the studio during the recording of the album: the band was busy playing shows around the time of the album's release, like this one with unwritten law a week before. note the joke that the album will be "available on CD and cassette late february if jeff doesn't screw up anymore," referencing the production delays and uncertainty about the release date: and they played a record release party at SOMA on february 24 opening for strung out. other openers are tiltwheel, rhythm collision and openfast. thanks to board member @Kjblink182 we have scans of pictures taken on the stage that night: in a bit of shameless self-promotion, tom is wearing a blink shirt featuring the blink bunny as drawn by court jones: note tom's ampeg VL-1002 head and slanted cab. he had not yet customized it with the 'blink' placard in place of the lighted ampeg logo. i have no idea how the band played in jeans that night, they must have been burning up. and tom has not one but two t-shirts on. SOMA was hot! note rick devoe sitting on the stage. he had been their manager for four to six months. mark is wearing jeans too! these kids are crazy. you might recognize mark's blue-green hair color here. it's the same as the picture inside cheshire cat. even back then, mark jumped a lot. and landed awkwardly every time: that night, promo posters were handed out celebrating the album release. they could also be found at record stores around the san diego area: and of course, cargo promoted the album by placing advertisements in local skate magazines and other punk outlets: well this concludes our little trip down memory lane to twenty five years before. i would not see blink live until the summer of 1995. i sure wish i had been there myself for the release of cheshire cat. what about you?

  8. It happened and I didn't know it because Instagram wasn't loading at the arena so we didn't see Travis' post and had no idea DWM and OMT were in the setlist! I was blown away when Tom said "I can't believe I'm doing this, we're playing this song for the first time ever" and it was DWM. The crowd was so wild with the olès, it felt like the song had been out for weeks, not just 24 hours. It was incredible. During Dammit my friends threw me in the air, first time crowdsurfing at a blink show 😂 when Dammit was over everyone was starting to leave, but Mark, Tom and Travis came back on stage and Tom said "this song is about us" and played OMT. Tom sounded great on OMT at soundcheck today when they played it twice so I don't know why his voice cracked and couldn't sing it earlier, but I guess they were really drained at that point, I've never seen Mark and Tom play with this kind of energy and they even exceeded the usual 90 minutes, they played for 105 minutes tonight (!!!) I knew this show was going to be great, but I didn't know it was going to be THIS GREAT. They sounded amazing, then the banter and the stupid things they said. They were really the band we fell in love with when we were younger. It was never like this when I saw them on the untitled tour and all the other times during the first reunion. Italy didn't disappoint, crazy sing along, everyone in the crowd was dancing and moshing, they sang all the riffs lol (on anthem pt 2 it was so comical but I loved it 😂) and I could see that Mark and Tom loved the crowd. They were in a bit of disbelief when everyone sang MTYK and DWM so loud. I bawled my eyes out during all Adam's Song because of Mark's speech, but for the rest of the time I had this huge smile on my face and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the world. They have the world on the palm of their hands right now, we're really living one of their best eras. Best show ever of my favorite band ❤ I'm writing here because we're talking about DWM and OMT live, tomorrow I'll post some pics and videos on the tour thread.

  12. this is officially my favorite song of this era. even if there are better songs on the album, i will always associate DWM with how happy i was at the craziest blink show i've ever been to. and it's a staple live song already, i'm sure it will never leave their setlist.

  20. Have you heard this band? Being their fans is like a full time job, we're like a road crew carrying around their emotional baggage for them, and it really shows on days like today, but I wouldn't want it any other way. Hats off to all of you who can articulate how you feel about the new songs, I'm still too emotional. All I know is that they sound even better in the car and they really hit hard. I'm glad I have you guys to share this crazy ride with. Fuck reddit & Italia.

  22. Funny story from today. I had to give one of the biggest presentations of my life today. I had to demonstrate some of our technical stuff to one of our biggest clients based in Asia. We use Microsoft teams at work but what I didn’t know is that client uses google for their meetings. So I click on the link they’ve sent over and my display picture is me with Tom from about 15 years ago. I had to present to the fucking president of one of Asia’s largest supermarkets with this flashing up on the screen whenever I spoke 😂 Not the end of the world and they saw the funny side. The presentation went well too haha

  23. That was the best blink show I’ve seen since way before the reunion, maybe before Untitled? All three of them were all in, they respected the songs and gave it their all. No awkward or forced moments. They didn’t fall back on their crutches (that goes for both Mark and Tom), it all just felt very natural and organic. I feel like I was just transported to an alternate universe where everything I observed was deleted post-2004 and watched a blink show in 2023. The respect for the songs was 100% back and better than it has been in at least 20 years. This being their first show with only a few rehearsals gives me major hope for greatness to come. What the fuck did I just witness?

  25. Just wanna say how great the last couple of months have been with you guys. The build up, the stall updates, the singles, OMT video and the album release. It’s been so fun. We almost lost Mark and blink forever but they’re back and better than they’ve been for 20 odd years. Let’s enjoy this, we deserve this. The album fucking rules.

  26. Its catchy. The video isnt what I expected but Tom trying to grab the spandex guys nuts is fantastic. Tom sounds great, the bass sounds great, cant make out the words much but dont think much of them so far. I like that they’re regaining the balance of Tom as the aggressive / rougher one and Mark having the calmer, warmer side of things - its where his voice is best, because Mark vocally sounds good here too and they need that disparity between them. Cant believe the Ole’s work. There’s classic blink elements here but not on the nose, think the chorus repeats a little too much. Not as good as MTYK but still miles better than Edging. The tom awkwardly hitting on the reporter bit at the end is hysterical.

  27. I cried again while I was listening to OMT this morning, if you think about it, it's crazy that they gave us a song where they admit to their mistakes and sing to each other about real shit that puts them in a vulnerable light. It's very unusual for two grown men to be so direct and sincere on a song about their friendship. I don't even think there are many other artists who wrote a song like this - call it male ego or pride, I don't know. And I don't care if the song is very minimalist or if the lyrics are simple, that's actually what I love about it. If you don't know their history, it may seem a generic ballad or a cheesy way to appeal the general audience, but if you know their history, you know what it means and it speaks straight to your fan heart.

  29. had a great time exploring san diego, and LA, for some blink history. stopping by sombrero was obviously the highlight; the food was fantastic. i also stopped by tom’s childhood home/garage where blink started, and saw the light pole mark climbed haha. truly surreal! i also drove by the flower shop that used to house SOMA, as well as both signature sound studios and rolling thunder. both just boring, boxy office buildings… i don’t know what i expected. still, it was fun to see where tom broke the fuck/cock guitar haha. i also visited belmont park on the beach, where some of the video for M+Ms was filmed. didn’t see DML/doubletime or lou’s records but i’m sure i’ll be back at some point. socal is gorgeous. and in LA i by happenstance passed crossroads which is pretty cool haha, and drove up to zuma beach near malibu where part of the ATST video was shot. here’s some photos from the trip:

  30. This is horrible. Mark is a fucking gentleman with a heart of gold. He formed my personality in ways I’m probably not fully aware of. I’m sure a lot of us can say the same. He’s here and fighting, that is the main thing. He’ll be hoppin’ again soon. God bless him

  32. Okay I actually have the album. The mega link I have from this morning is dead, working on a re-upload and will start sending out the link in DM’s to those that liked my post, hopefully 30-45 minutes. I’ll fire off dm’s as I can. DO NOT DM ME, IF YOU DO YOURE NOT GETTING THE LINK. For regular users that aren’t new I’ll just create a thread in special section with the link.

  33. I fucking love them both. OMT is beautiful. Haven’t seen the video yet. Toms voice on the verses sound a little off for me but not enough for me to care but he sounds so good in that chorus. The chorus is gold, I love the one more time after it too and I didn’t like that clip initially. MTYK is fucking madness. I nearly burst into tears when Toms chorus came in. Pure untitled vibes ffs I can’t believe it. I never thought we’d get anything like that again

  38. I just ended a top to bottom listening of this masterpiece on proper earphones. It sounds brutal, amazing and clear. We can talk about production and all -we can express our preferences and whatnot-, but the sound in this record is a fucking bomb. You blast it through good earbuds or earphones and it blows you away. You listen to it in good speakers and you can demolish the whole neigborhood. You play it on the car at top volume and just makes your tyres burn. The songs flow amazingly well. It runs from track 1 to 17 in the blink of an eye. Flawlessly. This deserves to be titled All Killer No Filler (sorry Sum 41). I'm absolutely in love with this record. Now that I've got toaime to have a few consistent spins, it has unveiled all its potential. Even Hurt, with which I was like 'meh' has now my heart. Beutiful and hauting interlude. Absolute carnage of an album. As I said in other post, it's ridiculous how blink can own all the punk-pop scene in just one album. This can be, easily, another rearrangement of the genre standards, as they did in the past -well, if we can put blink in a genre anymore-. It's fun, sad, fierce, mature, experimental, raw and honest. I don't fucking care what media is saying or not about it. The real thing is that only the Stones are ahead blink on the charts. The fucking Stones, people. This is an album for themselves and the fans. Also, I remember when Untitled came out that it was beaten to death, and then, all of a sudden, it unveiled itself like blink's masterpiece for all. I can see this happening again with OMT. I could write a longer post, even dissecting all songs and what not, but Jesus, it's all been said at this point by you, my beloved people. I feel blessed and grateful to have this record right now and be able to share our impressions and passion in this forum. I'd never imagined we would get a blink-182 album with Tom again, and much less with all the grit he has deliviered on this record. Not even expected them to tour again. In fact, after NINE, I was expecting a final announcement calling it quit (and I think they were really close to that, attending to Travis words on the Lowe's interview). Thank God they have got their shit together (the worst part is that Mark had to get sick for this to happen). What a time to be a blink fan, people. We all deserved this afer 20 years of absolure rampage. 20 fucking years. But moreover, Mark, Tom and Travis deserved this.

  41. Holy fuck was it wonderful to see the boys back together acting silly as fuck! I had two friends over tonight and we jumped up and down with joy the entire time. I'm glad I stayed up to watch it. The stage banter is back, Mark and Tom sounded amazing, and progressively through the set, it seemed like Tom was just settling more and more back into it, and I love that for him. Travis was a beast as usual. Seeing the three of them back on stage together exactly like it's supposed to be.. You have no idea what this did for my soul. I will never not love this band! Ever.
