  1. So you're saying they wanted to collaborate with matt but he just can't afford an audio interface and headphones so they have to leave him out... Yup, makes sense.... If they wanted to start writing songs together with matt, they could.

  2. Idk the guy could get an Uber or something. Fairplay if he doesn’t have a studio. However, to complete a whole song and get ready to release without ANY input from Matt at all, and for him not to have even heard it is still ...odd. Same as when Tom wouldn’t listen to masters or record in the same room. It’s not the sign of a healthy band - or at least one where all the members have an equal stake Lack of Matt’s involvement/influence in their two bodies of work so far, is a fair criticism of this version of blink . It’s not a criticism of Matt, the more involved he is, the better the b

  3. Yeah i was watching his stream when he answered. I get the social distancing thing but you can't tell me Skiba doesn't have a computer at his house where he too could work remotely or listen to songs.

  4. "pathetic" is a pointed example. you can barely peel the lead riff away from the tracked barre chords underneath. like, you need headphones on to actually pull them apart. the mix of dude ranch is like a 100% midrange soup. i have no idea what trombino and cameron were thinking. and then gardner over at bernie grundman mastering brickwalled it to death and crushed everything. for an album with so many solid songs on it, DR deserves far, far better. give it to tom lord-alge and let's get a solid pop punk mix for an anniversary two-disc edition. yea, i know. dead horse. flogged.

  5. I think it’s definitely pretty lame Matt hasn’t been involved in any of these ‘lockdown songs’. I was defensive before when it was all just speculation but with it coming from mark there’s no denying it and it’s definitely a bit shit and disappointing.

  6. But he had one in his last house ? I know he’s the dark overlord but it’s the guys vocation, I’m not buying it. Quarantines a whole song recorded without him, so guess it’s impossible to say how developed the other ones might be. Yeah , I was buzzed seeing them all in the studio together and that level of collaboration. But it just hasn’t been reflected in the songwriting . The minimal music that dysfunctional Tom-blink produced in that time, not in the same room, was for the most part a better standard than what we’re getting now. Now it turns out there might be a level of disunity in

  7. Ehhh. Yeah I mean I would just reiterate what people have already said here. It seems like a shit excuse tbh. You would have audio recording equipment at your home, surely - being a successful musician for over 20 years. Or if they were that much of a cohesive unit, wait until Matt can get involved/build a small studio to begin sending parts etc. In fact, you can social distance in a studio, Travis does with Feldmann. How do you not involve one of your members at all as part of the writng process of a three man band. Sorry, but if this happened during the line-up with Tom, we would be raisi

  8. You're talking about just having an audio device, a computer, and whatever software they're using. I highly doubt a musician of 20+ years has no means of working on ideas at home. Hell most musicians here could pull it off for purely demos and ideas.

  9. This is terrible. It's worse than the original Adam's Song and that's saying something.

  10. Fuck- they better not fall apart yet. Need to make the pilgrimage and pray at the holy church of Caper live. Read an interview today. Joey says he doesn’t really consider himself a writer as such and that melody is his strong point (WHAT, your lyrics are fucking poetry in motion man) also he sees himself as more of an accidental frontman. Guy is charismatic as fuck on stage. I guess the best of us are modest. Not to battle them against each other, but I think The Caper is as intelligent as Fat Mike thinks he himself is, just with a fat dose of humility

  11. Yeah there's really no excuse for Matt not being able to record or be a part of the process. It's 2020, and he's a professional musician.

  12. Hate to be a Kansasbot, but that was not Matt's house in HISALP. It was a friend's pretty sure they said.

  13. fair question IMO. sounds like they're social distancing themselves from matt being in the band lmao

  14. it's good to know to some degree that our suspicions have been proven correct... for all of the fan fiction this board can conjure up, it's been proven yet again that our cultish fandom has afforded us some understanding of the inner-workings of the band. it was obvious that things weren't right during the reunion era, but it was THIS board that connected that the DED/modlife thing out of nowhere. this is a good example -- we know matt's involvement is limited, and the dynamic has never been right. that was never hard to sniff out

  15. With you there @Jan's Plan , video still fucking gets me. So well put together. So yeah - Mark confirmed on his Twitch stream that Matt has had no involvement in the writing of Quarantine or the four new blink songs that have been conjured up over this period. Said the one song Matt 'took the wheels on' was Black Rain. I think the level of collaboration and Matt's input is as limited as we think it is

  16. the fact that Tom has repeatedly said "he could come back whenever he wants" and he hasn't come back in five years makes me very happy that the band continued without him. I mean he's apparently "comitted" to AVA right now and it's still taking him years to release an album.

  22. The first part of that is personal opinion, I’ll take most Cali/DLX/Nine songs over most NH/DED songs all day. Second part, Matt’s influence is in tons of songs - it’s just not what people seem to expect. There are countless personal lyrics in there that people just ignore because they don’t like the song or think Feldy made it. Also Left Alone, Last Train Home, NHTSO are clear “Matt” songs.

  24. Your analogy would work if: Matt had replaced the previous frontman in Alk3 and he didn't influence their first album much; Alk 3's producer influenced more songs than Matt; and Dan had gone on record saying that he didn't know where Matt was (I believe Mark has been frustrated with Matt in the past). I think it's fair question to inquire on what songs Matt had more influence on given the current state of the band. Overly defensive fanboys are fucking weird.

  26. Again, key context missing. The question was: “Is there a blink song that Matt really took the wheel for?” Mark quickly answered “Black Rain”, which is an obvious example of this. The scenario was not “WAHT R ALL TEH SONGZ TAHT SKIBA IS TEH #LEADER ON?!” for which Mark pondered for several minutes before slowly whispering “Black Rain” as the lone example he could think of.

  27. finally updated the official mobile-safe version of the timeline! much more readable. other plans include a dark mode, as well as renewed focus on utilizing red/blue to highlight tour dates/such (this was in the old timeline, and current working version in google docs, but it never translates upon copying/pasting for the web version). i've started this, but it will take some time.

  28. Exactly. I find it very hard to believe Matt doesn't have a way to work with the guys at all....

  29. Doesn't explain why he hasn't even heard them. Doesn't explain why they didn't just wait until Skiba could be with them to start working on the record. if they're just rough ideas fair enough but they were talking about releasing one without him being involved whatsoever.

  36. Ayyyy, again with the 20 years. Fucking John Feldmann ova here. That sounds like a rough 2006 there Philly. Yeah, Tom’s singing then was a medical first, turds in the aorta. Glorified donut? At least I don’t look like the Shah of Iran. Its a shame, in the hospital - I thought we had come to an understanding ...about life...about seminal pop-punk. Now I’m prostate with grief

  37. Theory: Tom got the idea for the X2N from Billie Joe Armstrong. We already assume he probably angled that bridge humbucker like BJ did with his in blue, but in this pic from the early 90s, you can see the Bill Lawrence humbucker BJ has angled in the bridge looks like a DiMarzio X2N at a first glance. I wonder if Tom thought it was an X2N and that's why he put one in his sticker strat. As @Q182 pointed out to me in chat, the poles on the X2N are thicker, but at a glance and not really knowing anything of Bill Lawrence, I think it's easy to mistake BJ's for a DiMarzio X2N. Compare

  38. Without Matt, the latest blink release is DED in 2012. Who can honestly say that they wish blink died after DED? Who posting here can say they prefer NOTHING to what has happened since DED? 8 years people. It’s not like Tom has been begging to come back. Thank you Matt!

  40. Honestly that could be something. He did look horrible at the one show/interview. But the “we take it seriously” was so obviously in relation to social distancing. Watch the clip again. He mentions social distancing is why they haven’t all got together physically and then says we take it seriously.

  43. I mean..I think it's a little weird tbh. Also I think the collabs with Goody Grace or whoever without Matt was weird too. But I also hear Skiba's influence all over Cali/DLX and Nine when everyone just acts like it doesn't exist. There are certain parts where he almost apes himself Tom-style and it could be on an ALK3 album "drunken bike messenger on Tuesday night", "Black Rain" sounds like it could be pulled straight off of Crimson, "She's Out of Her Mind" is a poppier, blink-type version of something off of My Shame is True. I also think BIOMY is one of the most "blink" sounding son

  44. Being able to list a handful of Matt songs when the band has recorded almost 50 songs together isn't a reigning endorsement of Matt's autonomy or influence on the band. It's also the execution and style of the songs that seems a bit problematic. Find me an Alkaline Trio song where Matt's vocals sound like something like No Future, the auto-tune is fucking brutal in that song and takes away from Matt's qualities as a vocalist. He's at his best when his vocals are more raw and genuine. He also hasn't been writing that many guitar riffs, which might be a creative issue, but his guitar work i

  47. I believe what we know about Feldmann and Nine is that they went back into the studio with him and did a full album session following california. The band thought what came out of it was repetitive so they worked with a bunch of producers and about a third of the Feldmann work actually made it on the album. The assumption is I think that he was salty about all of that which is why he didn’t really promote Nine at all. Except for when any of the songs he produced would come out. But he seems over it now that he’s working with them again

  48. It's a fairly new podcast, just started a few months ago I think. Kind of cool because they get guests from the music industry or guests who have worked on Star Wars in some capacity, so it's a fun combo. Sometimes a member from a band I like will be on and sometimes an actor from Star Wars will be on. It's Ryan Key of Yellowcard, Adam Russell of Story of the Year, and Nick Ghanbarian of Bayside. I remember seeing Bayside last year (maybe two years ago) and Nick was wearing an Ahsoka Tano Star Wars shirt which I thought was cool haha. And yeah the amount of SW podcasts out there is completely

  49. I've been on this forum now for 15 years - though as you can probably tell I haven't posted here for quite a few years. But I dip in every so often. I made some good friends through here, travelled the world to meet them, had a lovely lady release my music physically through this place. What a forum. I also trolled this place, the way you might troll your brother or your sister. I knew people would kick off and they did. And in terms of attacking people, I'm not quite sure what you're referring to but I had to give the impression was real or else the troll wouldn't have worked. I got
