  1. Hi everyone. I've installed the latest update to the forums, there's a number of visual changes in this update and a bunch of stuff behind the scenes. Visually, I'm aware the logo up the top is now really small - I'll see if I can sort this out. There's also a number of re-indexing tasks still running as a part of this, you might notice the boards running a little slow for an hour or two but once these are done things should be back to normal. If you come across any issues please reply here and I'll do my best to sort it out.

  2. That Album Launch stream was incredible, truly the most heartwarming Blink content I've seen in SO long. I taped that on a VHS when it was on MTV and watched it so many times back in the day haha. It was nice to see Mark interacting with those fun Blink memories and not seeming uncomfortable or putting on a front. It seems like he's more at peace with the past and the thought of Tom as a positive former presence in his life. To be honest I have a friend like that as well, you can have a painful mental-health related "breakup" with a best friend but as time goes on you learn to appreciate the hilarious good times together and be happy to run into them and wish them well, even if you know you can't put that exact relationship back in your life. That was the vibe I got from Mark during that rewatch and it was nice to see. I would absolutely love to see him do this with the other Blink docs!

  3. So there’s this viral video of some dude covering semi charmed life as if it was written by blink-182...and I don’t get it. It sounds nothing like blink. It sounds like the shitty pop punk genre that arose after blink in the mid 2000s.

  4. This is essentially the same is the "What are listening to?" thread, no?

  5. btw someone commented elsewhere that mark’s story in the video totally explains his reaction to tom during the 2003 festival (bayfest?) where tom is riffing during the bridge of rock show and mark’s like “that’s enough”. mark says in the twitch stream that he was super nervous during that gig because cheap trick were watching from the side of the stage lol

  6. Remember in Jackass when they'd sneak up behind someone and buzz their head with clippers? Mark needs that done to him.

  7. I can definitely understand how this song would seem terrible to anyone unfamiliar with the original cultural context. It's very much a "you had to be there" kind of song.

  8. i had never heard of this song before. both versions are terrible. the newer one is slightly worse, i will give it that.

  9. This is honestly one of the best blink videos i've watched in a decade. Please Mark do more of these! Such a good era of my childhood and to now have Mark Hoppus damm near be Blink-182 Morgan Freeman and narrate those moments is beyond fucking awesome! I want more!

  10. Yeah Lewis is a bit of a twat but I think we should be proud of him. He’s going to go down as the best ever (world champs wise) and he’s a Brit. We should be proud of that.

  11. I always imagine these kinda songs to sound a lot more experimental if blink did covers of them or wrote them anyway. If these YouTube guys did a "what if blink wrote this" thing for the Cure's A Letter to Elise, then it's sound like generic pop punk trash still. Blink covered that song and made it entirely their own. If blink wrote it, it doesn't mean it's gonna sound pop punk. It's probably gonna have flanger effects and all that shit in it (especially if you're thinking of blink with Tom).

  12. It's the same thing as when anyone covers a blink song and labels it "tom voice" or something. all the commenters act like saying "toime" makes you a genius who sounds exactly like Tom haha. The bar is very low for most listeners apparently

  13. Yeah, I heard that too. It was posted a couple of days ago on these boards but I heard it and the vocal melody is the typical generic pop punk trash from 2005 and onwards. Sounds more similar to the likes of Neck Deep or whatever. I've never heard one single song with that "What If blink wrote this" gimmick actually sound like blink.

  14. Yeah man, it's brilliant. Already looking forward to the next addition as they've seemed to be in the right garage at the right time. I just really wish Mercedes had a competitive second driver, I think Bottas is a good driver, but you look down at all of the teams and I think there's only really Haas where he would be the clear number 1 driver of the team. I can't wait for Lando and Danny Ric at McLaren next year. Imagine if Ferrari have to wait 21 years between championships again, and it was Mick Schumacher that ended the spell like his dad did? Would be an incredible story. 2028 Mick would be 29, not outside the realms of possibility that he will be at Ferrari at that point.

  15. Tom's still 4/10 for me with the jokes, Mark's about 0.5/10 average right now..just saying. Obviously both were comedic gold in the heyday

  16. i think we went over this when i heard "skater boy" months back for the first time. i stopped listening to radio in 1994, and dropped TV in 1999. this is another song from the 00s that i just had no way of hearing. basically until youtube came around in 2006-2007, i had no way to be exposed to mainstream music. once every single band starting putting their videos and singles up (this was around 2009-2010) i started catching lots more stuff. like, i would hear of katy perry or ke$ha on youtube first. but from 2000–2009 it's a black hole for me in terms of "it was everywhere." it's so slowwwwwww and proddingggggggg especially the lead riffffffff again @Diddy Faplord has my back. a.) i'm not the only one and b.) the song sucks

  17. I have to crab you for that. It was *everywhere* and the original is fucking brilliant.

  18. What are you talkung about? The fact that Mark didn't laugh at every single Tom joke is irrefutable proof he'll never let Tom back in the blink ever again.

  20. Wow that was awesome! I tried rewatching album launch a few years ago, but I had already seen it so many times back in the day, I kind of remembered everything. This was a great excuse to rewatch it!! Lots of legit lol moments in the documentary and Mark was awesome reacting and giving info! Must watch for blink fans of that era.. I think I can live without the blinkumentary now, this was awesome. I'll just assume it probably sucked anyway Also, blink italia uploaded it to YouTube, so I reported them for spam, hopefully they get banned

  21. He definitely lost his touch once he got addicted to SM. Kind of annoying now and too proper. Mark wins you back immediately though whenever he is himself.

  22. yeah that stream was easily the most entertaining blink content in a long time. I definitely hope he does more. made me want to bust out all the old blink docs and rewatch them.

  23. This was legit one of the coolest blink related things I’ve seen in a while. So fun. You cunts oversold the “I’ll call Tom” thing though. I was expecting him to be acting very different based on how excited people were.

  24. I''m late to this but stop it you, I'm blushing! It's fucking class that Mark watched the Making of doc. His reaction to Tom's 'splurged on my lips' comment was almost identical to his laugh 17 years ago. Fucking chemistry people, it can't be stopped

  25. Damn, I had a huge smile on my face and my heart broken at the same time while watching this. It took me back to 2003. How can you blame Mark when he says that blink is for life?
    1 point
  26. on the contrary i thought he was pretty consistent in chuckling at tom! was kinda watching to see how he’d react too

  27. It’s not really +44 to me without Carol.

  28. Money is definitely a factor but i don't think it's the only one. Mark never wanted to stop doing blink. Not the first time when Tom quit blink, he was even super upset about Tom doing boxcar without him because he thought it could just be blink. Why did Tom need another band when he had blink? When Tom quit the first time Mark did +44 for the reasons he gave in the interview but he then dropped +44 immediately when he had a chance to bring blink back (that 2nd +44 record contract was turned into a blink record contract) because blink is all he had wanted to do. Then Tom dicked him and Travis around for 5 years and Mark went along with it because he just wants to be in blink-182. Then Tom quit again and Mark decided to keep doing what he always wanted to do which was play in the band blink-182 even if that meant changing what blink-182 was. I personally respect that decision more than if he just quit doing the band he loved because Tom fucked off. Mark lives for blink. blink-182 life for life or whatever the fuck he says. I'm sure that while he enjoys the extra money he gets with the blink name he isn't struggling to get by and definitely doesn't need that extra money. Fuck he could probably retire today and play video games on twitch for the rest of his life and never have to worry about having enough money.

  29. I think it has. You gotta remember he had an extra 5 years of Tom doing his best to purposely make a joke out of blink at live shows and all the other stuff. It’s incredibly naive to assume Marks opinion on what makes blink blink wouldn’t change after all that.

  32. Yuck. MGK is cringe enough, don’t need to bring the cringe multiplier aka Youngblood or whatever he calls himself in too

  33. I'm ashamed of myself for not totally hating Bloody Valentine. He seems like a total douche but it does seem like he's helping bring it forward again. I'd probably get into it if it was a touch heavier, more guitar lead.
