  1. My impressions after watching a several of these pro-shot videos: All things considered, this is the most professional they've ever looked/sounded/acted on stage. You can just feel the happiness and comfort and authenticity oozing (ejaculating?) out of all of them. They're fully taking it seriously and having the time of their lives doing it. It seems like they're embracing and enjoying every aspect of the Blink experience for the first time since like, the Enema days!? For that reason, I understand using backing tracks 100%. It's not just to "make it sound like the album," it genuinely makes the experience more magical for the audience to have such a full lush sound. With these guys (especially Tom) you're always going to get plenty of variation and ad-libs and spontaneity to make it feel live. Like Travis said in that Rick Rubin podcast, they just love being a 3 piece and this allows them to remain a 3 piece while still giving the crowds the type of experience they deserve. HAVING SAID THAT, the backing tracks do go too far at times... I get having synths, strings, keys, some guitar layers, some extra background vox, but it becomes distracting and weird when Mark is roaming around the stage during the chorus of Anthem 3 while his co-lead vocals are playing, or Tom is stepping back from the mic to let everyone yell "OLE OLE OLE" but then you can still hear a vocal track go "YEAH" It's very obvious that they are legitimately singing and playing live throughout the show (sorry Diddy), but I feel like those parts of the backing tracks are unnecessary and kinda cheap. Anyway, that shit doesn't diminish the experience at all for me, just wanted to throw my 2 cents in. I just feel so happy that this is the thing to over analyze right now instead of a sullen Tom drunkenly yodeling with a short-billed hat pulled over his eyes, or any of the other depressing versions of Blink we've endured over the years. We're lucky! Soak it in, people!

  4. How can CAROUSEL be mid? It's still one of their best songs. It has everything. Best bass line of all time, no rhymes and yet it still works flawlessly, the angst, the nostalgia, that very unique Cheshire Cat vocal delivery from Tom, still relatable at 34 as it was at 14. Bring it back please.

  5. Dissing Carousel… jesus H, fuck off Jan

  6. Carousel is iconic and there’s no way they’re too old to play it. If that was true then they’re too old to play half their set.

  7. One of life's biggest curiosities for me is how Limp Bizkit went from being totally fucking lame as a kid/teen/young adult to now me thinking they're actually pretty sweet lol The Offspring, on the other hand, just keep getting worse. They're worse than Nickelback NQAT

  8. Scott “Skiba is a boring cunt on stage he just stands around like a cardboard cutout” also Scott “why is Tom moving around and enjoying himself so much? He should just be standing around.”

  9. Carousel might be a top 10 blink song. Entire discography. Thinking it’s mid is just wrong.

  10. Have you watched the pro shots from South America? I’m not saying they don’t use backtracks. I’m saying Tom’s guitar is clearly in front of the mix. or do you think they purposely record sloppy backing tracks with tons of wrong notes?!

  11. I apologize to the board for attempting to discuss the fucking backing tracks in a nuanced way. God dammit.

  12. How can you think carousel is mid and call yourself a blink fan? Just doesn’t work.

  14. Someone on the blink Reddit asked if there was any other online blink group or forums. Someone replied and said we are a bunch of old heads who hate the band and hate each other lmao

  15. I can’t believe Tom Delonge fans are dismissing a band because of rough vocals.

  19. The Offspring are like a mysterious blind spot for me. Up until very recently I had no idea that anybody thought of them as one of the seminal "Mt. Rushmore" pop punk bands. I even liked them for a little bit growing up, and yet I still had no idea they were actually respected in that way by so many people. My friends and I all grew up obsessing over pop punk/alternative/pop rock/whatever in the late 90s and early 00s, but I never knew anybody who latched onto the Offspring at all haha. I always considered them to be in the same lane as like, Sublime, Sugar Ray, Good Charlotte, Barenaked Ladies? - bands who had some huge hits (including songs I liked) and sold a ton of albums but never really had the oomph of a classic band. If I was making my own Mt. Rushmore of pop punk, I would have like 25+ bands in line ahead of The Offspring haha. I don't even say that as a diss to them, just strange that I grew up with a completely different perception!

  20. The crowd didn't let me down, they sang all the guitar riffs ❤ and I thought they were very loud even on songs casual fans wouldn't know, at the end of Dumpweed you can hear the crowd sing "turn your back and run now, you haven't got a chance now"

  21. the last time tom was so into the shows was probably the late 90s, it's a very great thing to witness as fans because you can tell it's genuine (when it wasn't genuine it was so easy to spot)

  22. Tom probably has no idea about the sexual misconduct stuff. He didn’t even know who Post Malone was when Travis was doing shows with him.

  23. this is some kind of beatlemania except that blink is a 30 year old band, it's so crazy, I love it https://www.instagram.com/p/C4W6qDUrQJT/

  24. Just wanted to say that this song is still the shit. Probably my favorite on the album, and easily ranks among my favorite blink songs ever. Tom coming back would be worth it for this one song alone. K, I'm gonna go listen to if yet again.

  25. Exactly. You can hear Tom’s sloppy live guitar playing everywhere on those shows haha

  26. It's like a cornerstone song for the band. One of the first songs you hear after "getting into" the band that seals the deal

  28. I really think we need to circle back to Jan not liking Carousel. I just read through 10 pages and I can't stop thinking about that. Like if you don't like that song, why do you like this band. Unbelievable.

  31. I just finished watching their show in Colombia! It was great and Tom plays his guitar on all the songs! Wendy Clear and DWM are still the best part of the setlist and the way the Colombia festival crowd gets even louder on the deep cuts almost made me emotional. Now I know why Tom cried the other night 😂 (I still haven’t watched the cometoBrazil show though) - in South America you’ll never get the blank stares on old songs Mark is so afraid of.

  32. The only thing that’s missing from an otherwise perfect reunion tour is really Carousel.

  33. Up All Night got a HUGE reaction at my show and I really didn't expect it, but it probably won't leave the setlist because it's the only Neighbourhoods song they play now. Down and Violence should go. Down in particular. I know they keep Violence because of the drum solo and Violence has been one on my favorite songs for years, but it's been on the setlist nonstop since 2003 and I got tired of it. It should be retired for a bit and in the meantime Travis can do a drum solo on a different song. Asthenia and Easy Target sounded incredible live in 2014, they should take the place of Violence and Down. Or just bring back Carousel and add a Dude Ranch song.

  35. im sure the diehards were mixed in there. But its a festival so I’m sure quite a few were there for the others too.

  36. Dude just watched the Chile show, totally fucking sick. There are some legit Tom criticisms, but it’s just not like it used to be. His fuck ups are passionate now and not based in laziness. Huge difference in optics and general vibe of the show because of that. Banter was top notch and felt like old school blink. Can’t wait to see them this summer My edgelord take is that the crowd should have been better lol. All this CuM to BraZiL talk for the last 15 years (I know Chile isn’t Brazil) but they just seemed like an average huge festival crowd to me. Maybe it was different in person?

  39. The backing tracks make them sound better- 100% do not care The BAGBABABABAABAHABA thing only becomes a problem if he continuously does it. As an honest mistake in the moment that he tries to make funny, I enjoy.. I laughed. If it starts happening all the time, on the same songs, that's when it crosses the line. The dude ruined First Date for me for years because of his complete lack of respect for it. Like if the person who wrote it thinks it's too dumb to be worth trying on live in front of paying people, how can I enjoy it with a straight face live? The clips from these shows sound great that I've seen. I'm not alarmed by anything. Pumped to see them this summer

  40. it always has frustrated when he butchers lyrics intentionally; it just oozes laziness and a fundamental disrespect for the body of work that was evident elsewhere too (interviews and such). the growling, the slurring, whatever it is, it needs to stop. the encouraging thing is that he seems way better off in the chile video than argentina. he seems to be having lots of fun on wendy clear. he's doing really small cool things on guitar across the set -- the outro to dumpweed, the discordant intro to UAN -- that really make it clear here is where he is supposed to be. the singalongs from the crowd, the attitudes onstage... outside of the argentina vocal performance, these are some of the best shows of the band's career.

  41. Wendy Clear is so tight live, probably the highlight of the show. I also really like the different arpeggio that Tom does on the bridge of The Rock Show. The new songs were amazing too.
