  1. Jan is right. Fish shouldn't be flushed, even after they die. Either let it die on its own or google ethical ways to euthanize a fish.

      A lot of aquarium fish have the potential to be invasive species. There are already areas that have been overrun by flushed goldfish.

      I'm not talking about healthy living fish, I can see why that would be bad. But dead or dying?

      Because septic tanks are built to handle human waste and toilet paper.  Not dead/alive fish. Also a 'dying' fish still has a conscious, that would be inhumane.  It will live through that and be even more stressed.
