  1. What the actual fuck? It’s 2024 and I enjoyed a Green Day album??? I think it was cohesive enough to do the job. It’s no Dookie, Nimrod or American Idiot but so far I’m pleasantly surprised. Each listen Saviors gets a little better, with at least half of the songs so far being jammers.

I’m no musician, but my favorite song is Fancy Sauce. It’s my new jam.

  3. Not to change subjects… I’m sure it’s been brought up already, but seeing as how we found out Fell in Love was about Travis and Kourtney and not Tom/Marie, on the flip side, does anyone think Bad News, though sung by Mark, was about Tom’s divorce? It totally sounds like a Mark song to me, but the lyrics are about a breakup. It could be like Dammit where it’s about a nonexistent relationship… only Hurt plays right after, so it makes me wonder.

I’ve got no evidence to back this up other than the lyrics. Sorry if this was theorized earlier.

  4. Still love a couple of their songs from the last two records, but I do feel this band is getting away from being a punk band with vague Springsteen vibes to a Springsteen band with vague punk roots, if that makes sense.

Their last few records is missing that raw, desperate feeling of defeat and the nonchalant shrug that followed.

Hope is a Dangerous Little Thing is still a banger, there’s some good songs, but I’m missing a bit of the attitude they had up through After the Party.

Seen a lot of speculation that the dates coincide and look like they could be playing Lolla this year. It would work out based on the schedule.

Would explain the lack of a Chicago date.

I never wanted to go back to Lolla but would for blink. Riotfest would be better but the dates don’t seem to line up with their tour.

Yeah I’m a coffee snob and I can’t just catch up with friends for coffee because I nit pick if the coffee is good or not. I’m trying my best to be less of a dickhead 😂

It’s like that being a filmmaker. Sometimes I’ll catch an odd cut or edit in a movie and I’ll be like “huh, that didn’t quite work.” But I just try and look at each movie and say, “Was the film doing what the filmmakers set out to do to the best of their abilities?” If their vision feels in tact, I don’t mind the little things and will ultimately judge the end product only against itself.

I think blink made the record they wanted to make, and there might be some objectionable complaints, but we cannot deny that it was at least coherent this time.

  7. Great interview. I’m so glad Travis is the glue of this band that holds them together in this day and age. The fact Travis was bringing up Tom’s return proves it was almost an inevitability. Also… kinda sad for Nine. It was briefly mentioned but the praise mostly went to California in this interview. I know it charted better but… also glad to see Mark’s honesty about writing songs for other people always ends up being forgettable whereas when he writes music for himself that’s personal, he gets a much better reception. I thought +44 would’ve proven that but he needed to do it with Bored to Death to feel creatively fulfilled.

Our snotty little punk band is growing up and it truly warms my heart.

Why is Tom looking in the other direction? Is that a secret message? Does it mean he will leave again to pursue his NASA dreams? Am I being too paranoid? It's like being in a relationship where your partner has cheated on you 2 times and you are with him/her still.

I'm joking, haha... yeah, haha. :)

Tom was abducted by aliens. That’s why. Let’s go crazy with the Paul-Is-Dead theories regarding Tom looking the other direction!

I almost only play Neighborhoods/Dude Ranch and AVA for the past 5 years, but Self Titled, WYHSB, DR-TOYPAJ will always be my favorite albums all time.

Yeah throw some AVA in there too. I don’t hate the other albums, just, y’know, I got my favorites and didn’t need to listen to em as much.

  10. Honestly I listened to Neighborhoods and Untitled the most along with Dude Ranch after the last breakup. I always liked Neighborhoods but it was also kinda always bittersweet. I’m not sure what albums will get the most spins once the dust has settled post-Oct 20.
