You know you’re clueless and reaching when you have to bring up Lil Wayne into the discussion. Lmfao

That's fine, I think you've made that clear. I like both from blink so 🤷♂️ good for me?
Last comment on this. It is beefing up the sound. I don't know how else to put it to you, that's literally what it is doing. No argument to be had there.
Sorry, but when guitars are playing through the speaker and Tom’s not even playing the guitar, that becomes more than just beefing up the sound. Same thing with phantom pick slides. Literally by definition. It’s giving the illusion he’s playing shit that he isn’t. But keep simpin, pimpin

I'm not making excuses, I've explained why I don't care what they are doing. I genuinely don't. They are too old for me to care about them slaying a live performance perfectly just for me like it's a punk rock club show.
I’m not asking for a perfect performance. I’d rather have a sloppy and real performance vs a performance that is closer to the Backstreet Boys and not a real rock band
and yes, you’re making plenty of excuses and playing severe mental gymnastics. “You have to have backing tracks for arenas, they aren’t from the 80s, it’s only beefing up the sound (wrong)…”

I honestly couldn't tell your opinion, so thanks for sharing it again. I wasn't sure if you liked the backing filler or not.
I don't care if Offspring uses backing tracks/playback. They suck and need it to hopefully block out Dexter's voice as much as possible.
Jan the type of guy to defend and make excuses for this “performance” 🤣 this is basically what they’re doing now anyways

I just googled Offspring backing track for fun just because you said "imagine if Offspring did that" but I didn't expect this to come up 😂
It's so good to hear you're going to the Bad Religion/Social D tour, that would be a dream show for me, I haven't seen BR since before the pandemic (blink and BR are the two bands I've seen the most live) but I never got to see Social D!
Yea I only use offspring as an example because Jan likes to hate on them. I’ve never even been to an offspring concert and couldn’t tell you when I listened to them last lol. I’ve never seen BR so I’m excited for them. Only seen Social D once. Both bands are really getting up there in age so I figure better see them while I can lol

Blink isn't a band from the 80s that carries cabs and PA systems or w.e the case may be around to large venues and other countries. I genuinely don't care, you highly exaggerate what is going on to argue a pointless battle - your age is showing.
Any band from the 80s, if they were transported to starting in the early 2000s would be doing the same thing today if that's what was available and they were a pop punk band. You chose to listen to pop punk and like it, this is your fault, not theirs.
I genuinely do not care what you're saying, would it be slightly cooler? Sure, maybe. But their coachella concerts onwards have shown it makes no difference if not makes the full concert a little fuller for a large audience. They were always a computer/modern technology involved band since Jerry Finn came on board. Does it bother you they didn't record on tape anymore?
We all like these things too, it's pointless to try and whinge about it all day on here. They made a choice decision to have a fuller sounding tour, with visuals, backing sounds to add depth, etc. It's not this big of a deal you're making it. They aren't wearing headsets and lip syncing. They are putting on a good show. Let it go.
Excuses, excuses, excuses. I did let it go. I am not the one who keeps bringing it up, but if people keep tagging me and saying stuff I’m going to give my opinion on it

would you be ok if there were no guitar backing tracks, but just vocal harmonies and stuff? Like the BTD harmonies for example?
That would be lame too. I don’t mind if it’s for piano or synth, but for voices/guitar/bass, it’s stupid. Live isn’t supposed to be a recording. Half the fun used to be seeing how a band would pull off a song live. Lit had one guitarist that used layering in the studio too. I used to love seeing how the guitarist would play the song live, same with Tom. That’s part of the magic of seeing someone performing live. And if Tom absolutely needs a second guitar for a few songs, bring the guitarist from an opening band on stage. They would surely perform for free. They did this with Give Me One Good Reason on the TOYPAJ tour when they brought out Chad Gilbert to perform it with them. This would be so much cooler than what they currently do.

That's cool, they are pretty punk rock bands are they not? Blink's music has a lot more layers in their recordings, part of what makes them more a pop-punk/alternative band am I wrong? Where's this extra sound and ambience coming from if they don't have extra musicians on stage?
Such a hill you are set on not coming down from
lol you are a clown. I’m sorry bud, but literally by definition, if Tom isn’t even playing the guitar and the guitars are still coming through the speakers, there are phantom pick scrapes, etc…that’s not just “bEeFiNg Up tHe SoUnD.” That’s the dumbest and lamest excuse. And saying bands can’t play arenas without backing tracks and sounding good is a flat out lie. How did bands perform before backing tracks existed? Answer that one smart guy? Nobody ever played arenas before backing tracks? That’s so weird!!!! Even blink played arenas without them and without all the guitar tomfoolery.
And no, why would I come down from this hill? Concerts are supposed to be LIVE. You’re paying good money to see a LIVE act. Not to see someone press play on a laptop and hear a bunch of pre recorded parts do all the work for Tom

I’m going to see Bad Religion and Social D in May. Guarantee you there are zero backing tracks between all of them. Because they are real ones who have musical integrity

Well then that’s equally as lame lol. I hate the state of rock music that this is becoming acceptable and the norm. Oh well, at least I know the one true GOD Mike Ness would NEVER even consider it. If Social Distortion ever did this shit I’d kill myself

It’s funny how Motley Crue old school fans call out Nikki Sixx for doing the same exact thing with the bass, and blink fans make excuses for Tom

Blink doesn’t use backing tracks to mask mistakes, they use it to add depth and fill sound in giant arenas.
Enough of this discussion already.
This is the biggest “Homer”/simp take. they use it to play guitar when Tom doesn’t want to, and yes to mask mistakes. He’s barely audible in the mix. Once again, it’s possible to play arenas with one guitar and sound full, especially with the way they use digital straight to the PA. You’re just in denial. If offspring did it, gauranteed you would have a much different take on it

My impressions after watching a several of these pro-shot videos:
All things considered, this is the most professional they've ever looked/sounded/acted on stage. You can just feel the happiness and comfort and authenticity oozing (ejaculating?) out of all of them. They're fully taking it seriously and having the time of their lives doing it. It seems like they're embracing and enjoying every aspect of the Blink experience for the first time since like, the Enema days!?
For that reason, I understand using backing tracks 100%. It's not just to "make it sound like the album," it genuinely makes the experience more magical for the audience to have such a full lush sound. With these guys (especially Tom) you're always going to get plenty of variation and ad-libs and spontaneity to make it feel live. Like Travis said in that Rick Rubin podcast, they just love being a 3 piece and this allows them to remain a 3 piece while still giving the crowds the type of experience they deserve.
HAVING SAID THAT, the backing tracks do go too far at times... I get having synths, strings, keys, some guitar layers, some extra background vox, but it becomes distracting and weird when Mark is roaming around the stage during the chorus of Anthem 3 while his co-lead vocals are playing, or Tom is stepping back from the mic to let everyone yell "OLE OLE OLE" but then you can still hear a vocal track go "YEAH"
It's very obvious that they are legitimately singing and playing live throughout the show (sorry Diddy), but I feel like those parts of the backing tracks are unnecessary and kinda cheap.
Anyway, that shit doesn't diminish the experience at all for me, just wanted to throw my 2 cents in. I just feel so happy that this is the thing to over analyze right now instead of a sullen Tom drunkenly yodeling with a short-billed hat pulled over his eyes, or any of the other depressing versions of Blink we've endured over the years. We're lucky! Soak it in, people!
Oh I know they have been legitimately been playing and singing live, the backing tracks are just extra extra is all I’ve said. I just don’t think they’re necessary and it allows Tom to be lazy. I’ll never be a fan of hearing guitar get pumped out of speakers and yet Toms not even touching the guitar lol. If you’re watching live, there really is no way to decipher exactly what he’s playin and what he’s not. I think that’s sad. I may be the only one here who feels that way, but I’m far from the only human on the planet with this stance

Dammit works as a closer. It’s perfect. If you still have energy left at the end of that song you’ve done the show wrong.
Nah. It’s only a 90 minute set. Make it a 150 minute set and I’ll stand by this lol

End on Goldfinger - Tequilla Sunrise cover with a Feldmann guest appearance every 5 shows.
I was just thinking , instead of One More Time, Tom should sit down while Mark and Travis perform “No It Isn’t” while Mark stares Tom directly in the eyes. Mark then holds Tom at gunpoint forcing him to tell the crowd he’s never leaving the band again as the curtains go up and the lights go out

I love the song, I could see that working. Although that’s not exactly a friendly “see you around” to end the night on lol

All of the South America pro shots I've seen so far have a great mix with the real guitar wayyyy out in the front of any backing tracks. I feel your pain because I obviously enjoy hearing his actual instrument too haha, but the issue is not quite as extreme as it is in your yead.
Oh I know. But it’s silly when people deny it can get lost in the mix. Goes both ways

Either you don’t have ears, or you lack musical comprehension.
Sure bud. We have one decent mix here that champ showed, meanwhile most of the shows you can’t fucking tell what he’s playing and isn’t playing. Tons of phantom pick slides and guitar coming through the speaker when he’s clapping his hands and dancing, yet it doesn’t get any louder when he puts his hands back on guitar. You’re just a Tom simp and that’s ok. Plenty of other people on the internet have picked up on this recently, and I’ve been saying it for a while now
