In a world of possibilities, somewhere out there, there’s a kid who was given a colouring book and a box of coloured pencils.

But the kid has already coloured every single page, and their parents don’t have much money to buy another book.

They do, however, have a printer.

So they can just Google “colouring pages”, find something the kid likes, print it, and let them carry on colouring. Simple enough.

But what if the kid really loves the number 182? And what if, for whatever reason, they want to colour a picture of the number 182 as a character, skating through a park? That’s oddly specific. They’re probably not going to find that on Google.

Or maybe tomorrow the kid wants a very particular kind of space rocket. Something that only exists in their imagination. Again, they could make it happen.

And so the kid keeps colouring. One page after another. One idea after another. Of course, that doesn't mean the kid should always get whatever they want. Learning to accept disappointment is important too.

Eventually, maybe their parents, grandparents, or someone else buys them more pencils or colouring books. And one day, instead of just colouring pictures, the kid starts drawing their own. Their own rockets. Their own characters. Their own worlds. Maybe they eventually paint something that’s worth a million dollars.

Or maybe they become so fascinated with those imaginary rockets that one day they actually start building real ones.

    Who knows?

And all of that could have started with a picture of something that wasn’t even “real”.

Now, let me tell you a story about the number 182:

One day, a friend asked me if I wanted to go to an auction with him. I wasn’t particularly in the mood, but I went anyway.

The auction was taking place at an old man’s house. He had recently passed away, and his children were selling the contents of the house before putting the property up for sale.

There were all sorts of things being auctioned. But among everything in that house, there was only one musical instrument. A violin. And its auction lot number was 182. I bought it.

Later, I discovered that the violin was well over 100 years old. And considering its age, it was actually in pretty good condition.

Now, imagine I take that violin to a luthier. They inspect it, restore it, put some new strings on it, and make it playable again.

And then I give it to someone who’s learning to play, or someone who’s always wanted to learn.

What happens next? I have absolutely no idea. Maybe they try it for a few months, lose interest, and eventually hang it on a wall. Or maybe they practise every day. Maybe they get better and better. Maybe music becomes the most important thing in their life. And maybe, through some completely unpredictable chain of events, they become so good that one day they end up recording a violin part for a blink-182 song.

    Who knows?

    I ain’t reading all that

  2. Was never a huge NFG fan but I did enjoy a few of their songs. I got to see them live in 2001 on the TOYPAJ tour. This one still hit kind of hard. Maybe it just signifies how precious life is and how anyone can randomly go out way too young, and that I am getting older. RIP man.

that's fine but didn't their actual new drummer come from Gaga?

A drummer whose name you can’t remember? Vs Worldwide Travis Barker who is more famous himself than Ak3 many times over? Lol and that guy is just a hired gun, especially if he isn’t even recording and Travis is doing that. I dunno. Travis is overplayed and I wouldnt want him overshadowing my favorite band. Would be dumb if he ever joined Social D for example

I don't understand the sudden anti-hype just because Travis is drumming.  It's not like he's gonna make a record that sounds like California 2.0.

It's just gonna be Alkaline + Travis.

A lot of Alkaline Trio fans glaze their original drummer like he is a GOAT. Personally I don’t hear it but I also don’t listen to much Ak3. That being said i can totally understand why they wouldn’t want Travis drumming. Makes sense to feel the original drummer was a better fit for their vibe and with Travis comes Kardashian fame and all that extra BS. I wouldn’t want him either because then it becomes more about Travis than it is about the actual band.

  5. Taylor cozying up to and taking selfies with Pat Magafee…gross. Meanwhile her bestie Ed Sheeran’s taking heat for kicking Macklemore off his tour for daring to say Free Palestine. I’m sure Taylor would be cool with Macklemore saying that on her tour though ;)
