2016 Summer Tour General Discussion

Because...obviously a ton of us would rather here a different set list than they have been playing the last 3 tours. They have such an expansive selection of songs to choose from as somebody else stated above, so choosing the same exact songs every tour is lame. There is wiggle room, they're a band that's proven they will sell shows no matter what they do, they do have the freedom to play what they want without a label telling them what to do. Besides, plenty of bands switch up their set list night to night on a tour, so they could too. So yea, I do care. So do a lot of others. Your favorite song must be all the small things lol -
Why's that funny? Pretty safe to say he knows what he wants to do and has achieved pretty much anything anyone could ask for. He wanted to make a living off of playing music. Check. Wanted to experiment with other sounds other than blink. Check. Wanted to tap more into other interest outside of music. Check. Please elaborate how he hasn't set out to do what he's wanted.

2016 Summer Tour General Discussion

I believe that. I'm not concerned about new songs, I'd rather here less first date/radio songs and more rare songs they haven't played in a while -
Tom is a very ambitious person who knows what he wants and sets goals and achieves them. Even Mark has said that Tom was the one in the beginning stages of blink who would call every club and venue to try and get gigs. He even would call schools and tell them blink was a motivational act to try to get gigs. So, without Tom, there simply would have been no blink, and they definitely wouldn't have achieved the success they did. Now, that doesn't excuse him for coming back to blink for monetary purposes and then stringing fans along. I have no problem if he grew away from blink, but don't do it and perform like you absolutely give no fucks about blink. It was obvious he did not enjoy blink anymore, from his performances to the way he would slight blink in interviews. It's annoying that, now that he realizes what he had and lost, that he wants to make videos of him playing blink songs and bust out his fender, etc. old Tom was awesome, new Tom is a douche.

Lol, don't get your hopes up kid. So they may add in/swap out a couple of new songs from California, but you can bet your sweet bippy they'll be sticking to the greatest hits set list. If they don't I'll buy you a unicorn off eBay. -

I hear you! I was hoping too. It'd be especially easy now to go explore some dogs they haven't played in years with Mark singing like apple shampoo, wendyclear, or any song really. Or expand the set list would be ideal! Another half hour of a bunch of songs we haven't heard live in years. I don't see why they have to keep their playing time so low. -
Haha, I wish, my friend! Unfortunately I work like a slave for a living lol. But, I have a dream to make chillin4alivin a movement. You can hop on board when that happens!

Lol fair enough

Thank you! Glad to be here with my fellow blink dudes and dudettes!

Thanks for the welcome! I really love dump weed tho, how about swap out up all night for dysentery. Have you watched them perform it with skiba? It's miles ahead of them ever performing it with Tom -

Yea I agree. They atleast could swap out first date for reckless abandon or give me one good reason. Honestly, who wants to go listen to first date? The music video was cool but song, not so great lol. -
2016 Summer Tour General Discussion

Yea I'm right there with you Knapton. I already paid $300 a ticket for me and my brother to see them at DTE in Michigan, although those are general admission right in front of the stage..but seriously I'm sick of the same set list every time they tour, and most of their singles are the songs I'd want to see least. And theedge, don't count on it man, blink has never been a band to switch up their set list night to night in the middle of a tour, which is just too damn bad. I was hoping with skibas capabilities, the fact that the band dynamics have changed and them not being on a record label (although I guess they are now) would lead to them having a little more fun and not playing the same exact songs on this tour. Seeing that set list really disappoints me. -
http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/blink182/2016/bankplus-amphitheater-southaven-ms-33fe7801.html well, if the first show in Mississippi is any indication, just looks like they're going with their standard greatest hits set list, aside from a couple songs like simpered and violence, which they always play anyways. This really bums me out. I was hoping with skiba they'd play some more of their rarely performed live songs, like dysentery gay and Wendy clear which they played at some of their first shows with skiba. I really wish they'd change their set list up more often, especially since some of their best songs are not singles. I really wish they'd start playing more songs from Cheshire Cat and dude ranch again. Does this bum anybody else out? What are some songs you wish they'd play?

That's all good, I just prefer my blink with a little fun and rebellion in a tuxedo T-shirt.

I just think a lot of the songs , like down and Stockholm syndrome have a very depressing vibe and honestly, these dudes had no reason to be depressed. This is an emo album in my eyes. It's all subjective obviously but that's my take on it.
-
You both make fair points! I mean I enjoyed the album at the time, still think there are a few decent songs on there, I just don't feel it's that great of an album and doesn't deserve the praise a lot of blink fans give it on here. I don't think it's a masterpiece at all. Hence why I posted in this thread, but to each their own!

I understand being rich doesn't make you happy, but come on, compared to most people's lives, these guys had, and still have everything. Again, money, families that love them (Mark and Tom still are happily married), and a bad ass job that most people would kill for. So they dabbled in some pills, and had some squabbles with eahother, is that really enough to be so dark and negative? I personally don't think so, but that's me. I keep a positive mindset. I don't whine and I don't like people who complain over petty things. But hey, it's their music and they're the artists, they're free to do whatever they want. And I'm free to believe it was superficial. They always pandered to what they thought their crowd was...for instance they heavily marketed TOYPAJ to teenagers, which was their fan base. With self-titled, the music industry had shifted towards darker and more emoish bands, and I feel blink tried to capitalize on that. That's my opinion

Untitled was a terrible album and direction for the band. Dudes had mega millions of dollars, were happily married with children, had always been a fun loving band and then they tried to go all dark and Emo. What the hell did they have to be so sad about!?
