  1. They are perfect, but I understand that they're not for everyone. When it's their turn, we'll try to change Bagel's mind.
  2. That power of association is a special aspect of music that can make things unfair at times. For an artist, it's unfair that you can never recreate something that appeals to a fan in the exact same way, just in a different way. For the fans, an album can evoke long-lost decade-old memories of some particular moments in their lives and it will be forever tied to those memories. Neighbourhoods reminds me of very specific late summer (mid September) driving to the beach every morning and staying out all day, waiting for a fall term in university to begin. I think the album has aged well for me, but I think it was probably a couple of years ago when I realised how much those subjective feelings inform how I feel about Neighbourhoods as a whole.
  3. Oh yes, I'm so ready to fight for Lagwagon. Knowing the people here, I'm pretty sure Motion City Soundtrack is gonna go to the finals. But Descendents has to be the other band or I will be crushed.
  4. I never cared about Bruno Mars, but I'm going to give him a chance with this album because I Iove this song. Anderson Paak is clearly the real talent here.
  5. it's important to remember that there's also a decade worth of memories that comes with Neighbourhoods, and that's why it means more to people, but it's generally loved by all fans anyway and we know it. California might have been more successful, but there is no way Nine and Cali are better albums than Neighbourhoods.
  6. @Scott.do you like this? It's great
  7. This discussion doesn't make much sense because if you go waaay back in time, the punk genre was still developing as a distinct style of music and you have to apply the label retroactively. If you recognise that pop punk is pop songs written in the punk rock style, then bands like Misfits, Ramones and Buzzcocks would meet the definition. Of course they were not referred to as pop punk at the time, they were just punk. It's the same as referring to the Stooges as proto-punk. No one called them that, they were just a rock band, but they are generally agreed to meet the definition.
  8. I just found out we have some MGK wannabes in Italy if this is how he's inspiring kids to write music with some guitars, I'm not sure he's doing it right
  9. Song about matt skiba not being able to smoke weed for a year and a half but in the disguise of a cheesy love song: ✅
  10. Wait, I didn't post Cooking Wine. I guess you can say it's a pop punk song. I love the bass here, it's so smooth.
  11. I'm not the biggest fan of This Addiction, but this song is a bop and the title is a nod to Misfits:
  12. Yeah! Their best stuff came out between 66 and 68. But I would also include 1965 because December's Children has Gotta Get Away, As Tears Go By and Blue Turns to Grey and they're all great songs.
  13. what a plot twist, diddy is the only one here who actually met MGK and has a picture with him!
  14. I didn't see this! in my high school we spent 5 years (high school is 5 years here) translating texts from Latin and Ancient Greek DAILY and Russian has a lot in common with those two languages because it has conjugations and declensions, but it's a fun language and it's not as hard as you'd think.
  15. I'm just a boring introvert with nothing special to brag about. Why would you want escargot when you could have grilled cheese instead! I work for a private company, I never wanted to become a lawyer haha we mostly translate for passport agencies and law firms.
  16. i didn't want to make it look like i was bragging, i should have put that under spoiler
  17. A few. Italian, English, Spanish, Russian (I'm finally getting good at it, I've been learning Russian in my free time since 2017) and some French. I studied international law at uni, but instead of working for the united nations I translate legal documents. I compromised like uncle Philly.
