I think it's better than the more popular Home is such a lonely place. Are people not getting the irony lyrics? Like saying how great California is, but yet everyone sits indoors, etc. But they wouldn't change it for a thing so they toast to it. It's like a love letter to the great/Shit California. If John didn't rush their lyric writing or co write so much this would have been even better.

Because they auto tuned it so if sounded like that 5 person harmony sound Queen gets. Not saying Queen used auto tune lol but it does have that Queen vibe to the vocals
-
Left Alones beginning though...that chimes synth stuff is straight awful
-
I think that is the best way of putting it and 100% true.

Hate to be joining in on ripping on Tom, he's one of my favorite song writers ever and love the guy but has anyone noticed or mentioned yet him posting/reposting every AvA song or video on YouTube and VEVO? all these ava only fans are like 'why is this being reposted ? Anyone know?' No reasons listed or anything.. No anniversary just random. Obvious to me as why.

The vocals are a joke not just the lyrics. A la Queen bohemian rhapsody how they have all those voices

I don't think that was on them to venture there, as they did on quite a few songs, that was in large the production. It seems Feldman was really pushy for certain things, like telling them to write choruses. Mark is definitely down for the pop, but he was the one least on board with getting a top producer. Travis is Travis, Matt is too new to interject. Not saying it's bad, but it's clearly not their natural zone, as shown by the lyrics at points and it ruined some songs for me but there are still gem moments surrounding the overly produced poppiness. I would very very much look forward and encourage a less influencing producer for their next release, they made great music here, it just got a bit overdone in the mixing at times. Did John Feldman produce American idiot?

What, this Scott Raynor wanna be hoopla? I like this tune too, there's no denying Tom's lead guitar melodies are large in part of what made us fall in love with Blink. But his vocals don't tie with it anymore, so why linger. We got plenty of songs/albums with Tom. Time to move on to the present.

Feldmann probably went in and edited any guitar tracks that had octaves and played the missing strings in between himself...

1. Octaves, yes I miss, wish they weren't brought up violence is one of my favorite songs in life 2. "Lost my voice fighting my way outt" Did they really say that in Cynical? Sheez that is harsh if about Tom! However you can probably spin any lyrics and say it's about tom..

Yes, it's hard not to OCD on the name, because at the end of the day it's the same songs.. But oh my if this was just a new band altogether I'd be obsessing even more than I am currently because I'd have zero issue with anything. it's just impossible not to compare now with the name involved. Then again we'd be sitting here saying "this would be a perfect blink song! Wish it was in their legacy" like I certainly was with a few box car racer and +44 songs and even a couple solo Tom delonge songs (no Ava sorry Tom). It is what it is. I'm actually enjoying this album even more with a clearer mind and not comparing obsessing. TOTTM needs to be on every summer movie soundtrack.. Kings of the weekend I disliked at first but has some great post chorus chords. I hate to ruin everyone's favorite, home is such a lonely place, but I can't stop thinking of one of my most hated songs on radio 'like fire flies, on planet earrthh" song

Man wish I was on board with Soohm. The 'anti a a a anti' part drives me nuts. The intro had me though..thick bass intros are what puts me in deep blink mode.

The effects in left alone made me want to die. Sober was meh. Only ones I skip but I do like left alone chorus a bit. California song isn't good. But it is more farcical than people think I'm pretty sure
-
So? They can't use old blink effects because they're Tom esque? They've used effects before, aesthenia comes to mind and tons of neighborhoods. That was still blink stuff. Hope u didn't mean that condescendingly
-
You mean UF - OHH OHHH WHOOAAA WHOAA OHH Nana whOAAA OH! Kidding, but this new sound can and probably will get parodied so bad. Not hating, Ive dealt with my friend giving the most perfect Tom improvs to make fun of my favorite band. Intro to LA is undoubtedly strange but it turns into my favorite California song probably.

Final first day thoughts from a vet blink fan: Not Blink, but very fun, good album. Very glad it exists and able to grab a few all time favorites on here to make my own blink greatest hits list. Which I was worried about not getting. (Cynical, Los Angeles; lesser extent San Diego, BTD, No Future, TOTTM ) I don't think more Feldy is necessary but very appreciative of him helping out and getting this done and in our ears by this June. Just think this Blink deserves more 'rawness' that was missing and adds to their charm. Again, this was GOOD, but for my own selfish taste, give me a less produced trio. Sometimes it went overboard. I can see this album seriously blowing up though, it's accessible to way more than longtime Blinkers (probably more so). This album is like a modern TOYPAJ in many ways to me. Its familiar to past stuff, but a bit cleaner and more upbeat/poppy. I didn't expect anything more though so I'm content. This group, with it without Tom in the future, is going to make some SERIOUSLY GREAT darker intricate songs in the future. Book it. I expect a few more all timers from this mix.

Matt has some terrible sleeping habits. I thought I was bad.. This guy talks about waking up regularly on floors, next to trash cans, up from nightmares. Jeez
-
I always thought Blink and green day were on similar fame levels? Maybe slightly less from my memory by no one else really. Offspring, Sum 41 types being next.
-
Stop. You mean neighborhoods right?
-
Definitely agree. The raw sound is part of their charm. Occasional heavy produced songs is fine.. I'm totally fine with him producing some songs, but full albums gets a bit tiring
-
It is clustered. Which makes for a good set of new songs, but hopefully but a permanent thing. As thank you John Feldman, but I want to look back on this as a project, not so much every song here on out or I won't appreciate these as much.
-
Ah left alone could have been great but whatever the F is going on in the beginning is just awful and makes me want to drown
-
While I support this album and like that John motivated this so much, I strongly suggest Mark goes back to OCDing his lyrics and not rushing them like John wanted. They're okay but definitely some moments in here you can't unheard. Mark is a fun writer I look forward to. Bass wise, he kills it.

Bonus song somewhere!

Los Angeles is kind of gold. I like heavier stuff now, they chorus and finale hit me hard. Nearly every song is like a single material on here too, I always like the B sides or undercover gems. I also like B movies over blockbusters. What does this make me personally.. I'm not a hipster.
