  1. Usually I get excited to come back to a thread and see what all the new discussion is about, but reading that was a real slog.
  2. this is just super uncomfortable to look at for a number of reasons.
  3. As someone who loves both Blink and AvA (AvA more, I'll admit it), it's a great bridge between the two for me. It's a stage in between and it's proof Tom, Mark, and Travis all had/have more to give than standard pop punk. They raised the bar significantly.
  4. Mind you, this isn't an attack on whether or not you like it, because I listen to California pretty often and I like it. It's not like Mine is Gold is an exact Blink replica or something, but more so that the song's production and melodies really aren't that different from songs on California. Personally, I think Blink ought to stand out more regardless. I can hear Mark and Matt singing this song and it sounds exactly like something from Cali to me. I'd prefer they be less homogeneous because it makes it obvious Feldmann was involved in both...it's not some amazing coincidence.
  5. I'm not sure how you could dislike this song if you like California. You could switch out the vocals and it would fit in quite well.
  6. In no particular order and a mix of all time favorites paired with recent favorites. After Midnight Feeling This Asthenia Wishing Well Pretty Little Girl (regardless of the rap) Roller Coaster Dysentery Gary Dammit Waggy Heart's All Gone Sad to say I'm not into old school Blink as much as a lot of the board, but I didn't really listen to them until a few years after the Untitled record was released. I think Up All Night gets a bad rap and I love that song. When I Was Young also has great lyrics, imo.
  7. Intro drums sound just like Bored to Death.
  8. No Future chorus in another song haha
  9. Far from perfect, but I like how Mark sounds here better. There's just more life to his (and the whole) performance. I actually really like this one regardless of any comparison.
  10. I just don't understand why Mark sounds like he's never sang in his life. There's no oomph behind his vocals at all. Maybe I don't know anything since I've never really performed live. Matt's mic doesn't sound full in the slightest, either.
  11. Tom has always used words like "punk" a little nebulously and I don't think he really knows what he's talking about, but if you're talking about the "punk attitude", Blink used to have more of that. It was less the lyrics and more the general attitude and energy they played with. Sounding shitty came with the territory, so it was more enjoyable. I enjoy the sound of California, but the polish really takes away any semblance of a punk sound (in my opinion). The current term "pop punk" means something completely different than it used to.
  12. Question: I see it regularly stated that Tom never even listened to the Neighborhoods mixes before they were finished and I'm wondering how we know that. I don't doubt it, I just want to know where this first came out.
  13. I did a quick search and was surprised to not find any posts about these. If there was one I missed and this is a repeat post, my bad. Apparently they were put up on youtube years ago by a guy named Eric Draven under the username KatyPerrylolol, but have since been removed from his channel and reuploaded here and there by others. Even with how crappy some of them sound, I still just really enjoy them and it makes me wish for an acoustic album like this. I even like how the original vocal tracks sound with the acoustic tracks.
  14. I didn't mean to downplay your experience at all, more just responding sarcastically because it's common here to tout an experience like it's the only representation of the situation. The truth is usually somewhere in the middle because unfortunately humans are imperfect.
  15. Hey stop giving examples of good things, Mark is a terrible snob who hates his fans and isn't a complex human being with feelings and emotions!
  16. I haven't been on this board for too long, but I really find the contrasting opinions interesting. From the first time I listened to California, I was disappointed. It wasn't at all what I expected and wasn't the direction I think Blink should have gone. I think Mark and Travis are selling themselves short with how they've treated Blink since Neighborhoods, and I'd love to see what they could do with Matt as a primary songwriter instead of Feldmann. I really don't like how Feldmann is doing the same stuff with so many bands and how it's become painfully obvious. Having said that, I still enjoy Cali and DLX. They're catchy, replayable songs for me that I associate with two good summers in a row. It's enjoyable to me, but I still wish for more. Blink used to stand for more than they do now and Tom definitely called this happening. I also love AvA, but Tom is crazy and I wish he'd just make music again. I gotta say though, there's a lot of people here who've decided to die on their respective hills no matter what and it's entertaining at the very least.
  17. Can't wait to hear music from this time period someday and be like, "Ahh, yes...the Feldmann days."
  18. I can see Feldmann fading out eventually and being totally fine with that because he made money and had a good time. I don't care for what he's done with Blink and basically every other band I've heard him work with and I hope they drop him before too long, but oh boy he makes some people mad. Let's host an AMA here with him and see which is stronger, his confidence in his skills or his money.
  19. Anyone else seen Infinity War yet? I'm not a crazy Marvel fanatic, but I was stoked for this one and it definitely didn't disappoint. I was impressed with how they handled the scale. Also I have no idea if i should title this with spoilers or something.
  20. I don't hate this song, but wow. This sounds like something that could have been straight off of California from start to finish. Spend 3 seconds imagining Mark and Matt singing it and it's barely any different.
  21. I wish I could trust anything this man says anymore. Why doesn't he even know how to use good quality pictures?
  22. I actually enjoy the little guitar cut off. It's a nice contrast to the rest.
  23. I don't understand why you're even in this thread considering all you do is shat all over AvA constantly. Sure, it's a discussion board and you're completely allowed to do so, but doesn't it get tiring?
  24. Every time the talking part starts I think I'm listening to Fall Out Boy and any immersion is broken.
  25. It'd be easier to consider The Dream Walker more of an AvA album if we had anything comparable since. The EPs have been an okay indication, but they're not up to par in terms of production at all. It took me a long time to really get into it like I had older albums because it was so different, but I love it now for what it is. I guess this is my first post here, woooh.
