  1. haha yep.. also all the digs at you for living with your parents
  2. I'm not saying what they should do or are supposed to do. I'm just saying that this joke song has none of the actual successful elements of their old joke songs. If this was meant to be a throwback to their classic element, well they completely missed the mark. It's like saying Mark wanted to throwback to old blink, and so he just puts on a pair of Dickies. Totally misses the point, totally awkward.
  3. Songs like fuck a dog and grandpa and ben wah balls actually sound like masterpieces now compared to this. Doesn't the new blink realize that the funniness of their joke songs wasn't because they were just one-off cute puns? In fact there were no puns at all in their classic joke songs. They were funny for being absurd, disgusting, and actually had some sort of stupid-ass, tongue-in-cheek story behind them. It's also actually funnier when they are full length songs because it makes the joke more cringe on purpose, making it even funnier (like Grandpa). These are just cringe period.
  4. lol fuck! Replace what I said with Cage Shows how much I know any of the other acts, really I was rambling about Twenty one pilots because I was reading about how they are on Fueled by Ramen and their contemporaries are within that next generation pop punk scene
  5. Can't believe Twenty One Pilots went up there in their underwear, beating out blink-182 the band that got famous for being in their underwear. And this is right after blink put out a music video reprising their running around naked video .. I can't quite put my finger on what this feeling is, but it's kind of like blink's legacy has evolved on to newer and fresher acts now, and they are the ones that won the grammy's. Meanwhile blink put out a record that sounds like 10 years ago and a music video parodying itself from 10 years ago.. I can't comment too much on how innovative or different twenty one pilots is, but the record sounds pretty good and interesting to me. Even though the Grammy's get shit on by critics, it should still be given to artists or an album that pushes the envelope somehow, and California is anything but pushing the envelope..
  6. How can I be a Tombot if today's my first time posting in months? Also my original post today wasn't even praising Tom. So.. what gives? Pretty low threshold for Tombot if all you have to do is post one mildly negative comment about Skiba in blink once every 2 months.
  7. Actually I'm on here almost everyday, just don't post.
  8. Yeah, it's so shocking that people want to still talk about a member that was in the band for 23 out of 24 years. It's like, how can people be so stuck on 96% of blink's entire history, geez.
  9. The most annoying thing here is that Tombots don't even exist anymore, yet we have to hear Ghent whine about them on a daily basis. Reminds me of back in the olden days when Oliver would force us into these conversations about money and greed, when nobody was even talking about it in the first place. Same shit, different day.
  10. I agree completely - but only for TOYPAJ. Most sell out examples come from that album. But even as they were doing it, it was not as self proclaimed. It wasn't pushed by their producer either. For joke songs, for this album, Brohemian was written because Feldman asked Mark if he had any joke song lines, and then they brought it out from that. It's definitely a Mark creation, but Mark barely makes dick jokes anymore. Travis never did it. Matt obviously never did it with Alkaline Trio. So where's it coming from? Untitled wasn't like that at all to me. In fact they did the opposite - Travis's famous quote was that he said to the band let's forget everything people know about blink. They aimed for complete reinvention. Most fans were proud and stoked with the result. Enema.. well, that's a bit of a grey area. But considering how many of those songs were written in the Dude Ranch era, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt.
  11. You have the most black and white thinking ever. Positive comment about Skiba? Skiba cock in mouth. Negative comment about Skiba? Skiba cock out, Tom cock in. People have both negative and positive comments = weird shit going down. Wow, it's so spooky that someone can have some praise and some criticisms about a thing. Which mental disorder is that supposed to be? You know, if you try to recruit more than 5 brain cells when reading these posts, you might see that people can have dynamic, nuanced, multi-dimensioned thoughts and feelings about a topic.
  12. Dude, you can have an opinion without being a "bot". Get over it. Where in my post was there even a lick of praising Tom? Yet it wreaked of Tombot? You need to learn how to accept people's opinions instead of reflexively calling them a this-bot or that-bot.
  13. Yeah, this is fair, and I totally get why people are enamoured. I think Matt Skiba is a pretty good fit, as far as how realistically possible it is to get a good fit. But you just can't really fit into Tom's voice or role (in it's original form). Hell, Tom can't even fit into his old form, how can we expect another person to do it. Tom was just a unique, stand alone figure. The other thing about relaying a "blink vibe" or paying respects to their legacy or whatever, is that it's a totally contrived motivation. When Untitled came out, how much of a "blink vibe" did they really seek to keep? I didn't see them obsessively try to reproduce their signature or legacy in that album either - but it became naturally part of their legacy just because it was really good. Blink seems caught up in their own hype.. no classic or great album ever produced had a purpose of "trying to be like who they are". You are who you are naturally - otherwise it's just contrived. Feldman actively trying to "produce" old blink.. you can't produce that stuff.. it's just what it is, if it happens. For example joke songs are just supposed to be joke songs if you're dicking around and you think it's funny, and it just comes out. Not them saying to themselves "hey, blink are known for their jokes songs.. let's put in a joke song because that's what blink does". It's the same kind of feeling I got when Tom put out those joke songs.
  14. I like Matt Skiba and I love Alkaline Trio.. and I like bored to death. But.. he just doesn't sound that good singing Tom songs. I agree, Tom was singing like shit in his last years in Blink, but Skiba - He's in tune, sure, and better than how Tom was singing it in the last few years, but that doesn't mean it fits that well, or has the same kind of feel. I mean, it seems like a pretty weak criteria to love his singing just because 1. He's singing better than new Tom, and 2. He is singing with effort. I mean, if Justin Beiber went up there and sang with effort, completely on tune, all of Tom's songs, doesn't mean anybody should like it. It's just weird to me. But.. if the choice is this versus no blink-182 at all.. then, maybe it's worth it, I don't know..
  15. Well, unfortunately in best medical practice, it ain't all about what the patient wants at the moment sometimes. What's best for you in the long term might mean more discomfort in the short term. Sure, you can have your oxy when you're in agony, but is it worth the risk of developing chronic opioid addiction that completely obliterates your life (relationships, job, financial status)? You aren't the only level headed, educated person who thought they wouldn't abuse something they were prescribed. The numbers don't lie.. it happens to the best of us.. and is now a national epidemic. Pain can be managed in a number of different ways that don't include the strongest pain killers possible. Often times patient expectations and demands are not in line with reality. Patients with garden variety arthritis will moan about being in 11/10 pain, when really it's just an exaggerated state that they will be able to manage over time after they find coping mechanisms. The problem is doctors that cave in to this, prescribe opioids, patients get addicted, and here we are. Who's to say more conservative approaches wouldn't work, if they were just tried more often? An analogy is that if you have a flame to put out, sometimes the best thing to use isn't a firehose, because that is too powerful and will cause more damage than it is worth.
  16. This has been published all over the medical literature journals actually. Highest rate of addictions coming from prescription opioids. Most other countries on the other side of the pond rarely even prescribe opioids for post-op pain. It's a North American phenomenon (including Canada).
  17. It's funny that we even have a nothing and nobody section haha
  18. I think we should all email pedrinho182videos@hotmail.com and thank him for this video
  19. That's like a festival poster straight outta 2005. Didn't even know half of those bands were still active..
  20. Thanks.. reaffirming the fact that I always thought you were missing the point of my posts. Most of my arguments with you wasn't defending Tom, but rather saying you are full of hot air and it's a pain in the ass to listen to you bitch about money and greed for over 10 years on this forum. Your dramatic display of hating Tom rotates between comical and annoying (mostly the latter), for all of these years. You being "right" all these years, is like predicting an earthquake is going to hit one of these days. Yeah, maybe. And it did. But it could have just as likely not have. Who knows? All people were doing was playing armchair commentary to tweets, YouTube videos, and Facebook posts. I played the same game too sometimes, although 1/100th the amount as you, and with 1/100th the amount of venom and hate. For the most part, I didn't know why blink was getting delayed, but I gave Tom the benefit of the doubt. So what? It's not like I was sitting their on my couch with my face painted the colours of Tom. I wasn't analyzing everything that was done and said "a beautiful mind" style, trying to make messages out of chicken scratch. I was just following my favorite band, and I enjoyed following them optimistically. That's how I follow my bands.. I like them and try to be on their side. I've got enough real world problems to be bitching about, I don't want to bring that negative energy onto my hobbies and past times. I don't feel stupid for "believing" in my band, because that's the fun of it. It's like "believing" in your sports home team. That's the joy of it. It's ridiculous to mock me for writing a long post here or there trying to be open minded, when you have LITERALLY written 10000000000x more posts pissing and moaning about this stuff. And now that you have some affirmation, of course you gotta gloat, because you spent so much of your life fixated on this. But for me, it's not so much about being right or wrong, or predicting the right or wrong thing about Tom, my main feeling is this: my favourite band is now broken up, and it bums me out. You saying "poor Victor", as if the only thing I ever cared about was being right on a message board. As if the only thing that bothers me is what I said arguing with you back in 2008 about blink-182 (back when none of us, honestly, had ANY clue.. again, it was all conjecture.. we were like sports newscasters.. just talking this or that, but at the end of the day, who the fuck knows? whatever happens happens). The only reason you should feel sorry for me is the same reason you should feel sorry for any blink fan. Anyway, yeah, as Ghent said, the rest of my thoughts are in that other thread. As of right now, I've gotten over the fact that blink as these 3 are over now (again..), but I still don't know what to think of this blink-182 that has different people. It's kind of like watching a TV show where they replace one of the main actors, and everything continues as if nothing ever changed. It just feels disingenuous and awkward, if nothing else..
  21. Alright then. I know where you and others with your opinion are coming from. I think for those people who have been following blink in the last few years as close as you have would be more inclined to feel that way, and this is absolution for all of the disappointment and being left in the dark. I've been following blink all the same, but have been less invested in the disappointments and the droughts, as it were. I just have always taken blink as a whole, all 3 of them. And as such any other form of blink is foreign to me and not palatable. I suppose if I spent the last few years entertaining the idea of blink without Tom as you have, then the news would be easier to accept. But I haven't, so if anything, accepting the "new" blink will just take time, if it happens. The other thing is I don't hate Tom. I'm not happy with him, but I'm just not that angry either. And I'm okay with a world with no blink-182, whereas you aren't. I don't subscribe to the "I don't care, I want blink, I don't want blink to end, give me Skiba, get rid of Tom, discard whatever it is that keeps blink from not moving forward, and if that's Tom, then Tom goes". I just don't understand that level of... desperation. Everybody that was on here griping on the daily for the last 6 years, I don't understand where that drive comes from. it's over the top. It's intimidating. It's tiring. But anyway, enjoy your day in the sun, I suppose. Now your "Fuck Tom" posts have validation and resolve. For people who have been ragging on Tom for the last 6 years, this must feel nice. But it's too bitter for my tastes. Who knows. To me it's just depressing. For me it's going to take a little bit more time to mourn for the loss of my favourite band, as I knew it [/melodramatics] *plays tiny violin*
  22. This is all very disappointing as a long time fan for me, but I would say the fighting and the tarnishing of the legacy and continuing as a different blink-182 is the worst part for me, not that it's over. I think most people will agree that blink 182 has been a weird kind of zombie for the reunion, so it's not quite so shocking and terrible that blink as Mark Tom and Travis are over, but just shocking the way it happened, and the way it will continue. I understand that Mark and Travis wants to continue the legacy, but I don't understand how you can continue something that was predicated on the three of them. That's like saying to your spouse "I want to divorce you, but I want to continue the legacy of our marriage with my next partner". It doesn't make sense to me. The whole point is the people involved, if you ask me. What people have said about them going at it the wrong way to reveal this news is spot on. I'm not exactly sure how ruining the image of neighbourhoods, DED, or any of the shows they played helps the legacy at all. I loved those albums, and those shows; why do we have to be exposed to this crap? And now the way they broke up tarnishes the legacy, and the entire image we had of them completely. I say that calls for regret and remorse more than it does excitement or vindication. I don't want to hoot and holler at this show like I'm watching Jerry Springer; these aren't trashy strangers to me, these were my idols growing up. I don't get any satisfaction out of having "more news" to talk about - I'll take no news over this shit, I'll find other things to talk about. And sure it's nice to see blink finally be active again.. but I wanna see Mark Tom and Travis be active again.. if not, then I'll just go follow other bands that I like. So even though blink was inactive, I was doing just fine as a fan - when the album comes, it comes, if it doesn't it doesn't. To me, blink were the shows and the albums and to a smaller extent the press they did together, which always lived up to what I wanted out of them as a band. The rest, in my opinion, is what duped the rest of the fans; the twitter, the instagram, the websites, the deadlines, the promises, whatever - that wasn't on my radar as much as I got busier with my life, and I'm glad for that, otherwise I probably would have gone insane. I think the "new" blink, whatever it is, has great potential to make great music. But it doesn't really make it blink if you ask me. It's kind of like if I love the new Kanye West album, then yeah, I love it as what it is, but it's not like I'm going to get more joy out of it if you call it the new blink-182 album. It only makes it more confusing and awkward. And as for live shows of old blink songs, to me that's like plus 44 playing blink songs.. if I went to a plus 44 show and they played a song that's supposed to have Tom, like feeling this, I'm not going to get any more satisfaction or make it feel more "blink-like" if you scratched out the name on the ticket and wrote blink instead of +44. At best it'll just be a really great cover of a blink 182 song. So in total, I don't exactly get what is exactly "continuing" about the band. Is it the members? Nope, that's different. The music? No, it's going to be different, both voices, and live shows, and banter. Is it the history? No, the history isn't moving forward, the history actually moved down into the toilet, with all of the old times having new shitty back stories. Is it the friendship and dynamic between Mark and Tom and Travis, one of the main reasons that we loved this band? Nope. Some of you might argue that that's been over anyway - yeah, I would agree - but then make it over. Don't change it and call it the same thing. Bunch of hand waving if you ask me. The confusing thing is that I love Matt Skiba, but I don't care to see Matt Skiba pictures with a blink banner over him and blink hashtags. Just like how I like Kanye West, but I don't need to see him be called "the new blink-182". It's like liking sushi and liking pizza, and then switching combining them together and still calling it sushi. The only thing I have to say to that is just... "why?" I think comparing it to a bad divorce is the best analogy I can find. Again, go your separate ways, but don't drag it out and then burn the house down in the process. And it's never just 1 side. And yeah, get new partners, who can also be awesome, but don't try telling me that it's the same thing, and it's continuing the legacy of the old family. It's nice that now they can go on and be vindicated with the truth, all 3 of them, but if you ask me, that gives no satisfaction to the fans. It's like living in a chaotic household with two parents fighting for the better part of 8 years before divorcing; well, that's nice for you, but you fucked up the kids nice and good in the time you dragged that out. Tom lied to us about his intentions and interest in blink, but also as far as I'm concerned, Mark and Travis were lying too - sure they may have brought truth to the light now, but then what the hell were they on about in the press for all of the years before it? It's lying just the same, isn't it? It's like, yeah, thanks for finally telling us the truth this time, but you lose points for the 100 times before it where you weren't. Isn't that "disingenuous" too? Both camps are giving us half truths, just of a different variety. Tom is obviously easier to hate, but in my opinion, it doesn't absolve anybody else either. It's just one big trainwreck, and from where I'm standing, it leaves me with a lot less than I had before when it comes to blink182.
  23. Pretty amazing to read what he says about them still being best friends after all these years.. living blocks away from each other still. tbh, that's what we always thought blink would be like down the road, but instead they only went in way opposite directions with time.
