  1. But you won't get the B-sides! And GD won't ger money!
  2. If Green Day singles weren't out in the US, did you guys not get their B-sides until Shenanigans?
  3. If it weren't for Kurt's 'Hey!'s I would regard them much higher. Another thing they have in common with Green Day.
  4. But did you buy the singles? I have two different editions of Basket Case and When I Come Around with different B-sides.
  5. They had huge hits on radio! But not on the singles chart. Nirvana had both. I think I'm correct that it was a conscious choice to sell more albums as it doesn't seem like the singles chart is that important to alternative bands over there.
  6. Green Day were not on the singles chart before American Idiot. It seems they didnt even release physical copies in the US early on. Maybe that's why Dookie sold more than Nevermind cuz it qas the only way to buy the hits physicallly.
  7. Hot 100 and Hot 100 Airplay are different charts though, aren't they? That being said, Minority wasnt on the hot 100, but I think it was bubbling under.
  8. Good Charlotte were punk as fuck!
  9. School isn't really needed to learn about pacifism though. I'm going to a pacifist group that is only for native English speakers. And I bought a book on pronunciation to blend in. And I talk all the time about how "ombing" other countries is wrong because the book said the "b" in bombing was silent, so I feel just like a native speaker. All from the school of hard knocks! The book also said a letter in "hard knocks" was silent, but I forget which one.
  10. On a Plain is my favorite. Love that one. In Bloom is pretty good too.
  11. I once wrote a paper on how cool censorship in music is. I wrote about Eminem and Barry McGuire, but Green Day is a prime example. Except for in their covers there is no swearing on their indie records because they weren't allowed to. Dookie was a lot edgier and probably sold more because of that edginess. If they put Fuck off and die on their record cover it would probably not sell as much. And Longview needed censoring as well. But that form of cool censorship really sells. I think the same goes for Jackass and South Park. That it being bleeped made it appealing to some people.
  12. It's a fist that is pacy! In Gilman Street they wrote "No Violence" on the walls but also threats to BJ for being a sellout, which is sorta ironic.
  13. I actually checked it. They only released singles in Europe and Japan, it seems. And focused on airplay in the US. I remember reading a book about punk in the UK in 1990 and I was shocked how popular they were there even before Kerplunk came out and that just skyrocketed with Dookie.
  14. Tbf it was probably the pacifists that gave him deaththreats he was referring to.
  15. But is it elevator music? One of my faves on that album.
  16. He seems very non violent to me. B He grew up in the Berkeley scene though. No violence was their first pillar. That being said he did attack someone back in the day.
  17. I think I just hate rock music lol.
  18. I think I dislike Kurt's voice and the production. I like the Beach production and In Utero, but I only like the songs on Nevermind. I'd definitely like Nevermind more if it sounded more like Bleach or In Utero.
