Fun, Catchy Pop-Punk Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 I guess this is kind of like that guitar riff thread I made a while ago, but god damn I love some of the beats Travis comes up with. I think Blink 182 would be much more generic and not stand out nearly as much without his creative and talented drumming skills. Intros like Mutt remind me that he plays a variety of music (for some reason I get a jazz feel from some of his drumming), and the intro to Always is fucking awesome as well. What are your favourite songs that highlight Travis' skills? Quote

fElon Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Adam's song was the first one where I was like "Holy Shit". It's not that hard of a song looking at it now. But at the time I was learning drums from Ringo Starr, and the cymbal splashes he was able to put into between his floor tom/Snare beat impressed me. Travis is a big reason why I got into Blink. I wanted to learn those song on drums, and to an extent I did. Dumpweed is an amazing song on drums. It took me forever to get the drums during the part wherre tom sings "You know I'd never cheat her". Quote
theedge00 Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 ^yeah those too! Or the pre-chorus in Everytime I Look for You and the bridge in Rollercoaster Quote
.Nick Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Reckless abandon played live is just crazy.. And not now too Quote
juice182 Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 The outro to I'm lost without you. It kinda dissappointed me how Travis' drums were pretty tame on the +44 record... Quote
Chewy030 Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 time to break up is an awesome travis song LOVE his drumming on that song! Quote

It's funny that you mention mutt as one of his best when it was scott that came up with the drumming and travis only changed it a little bit. Quote
grilled_cheese Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 I think that the best drumming Travis has ever done is on the BCR album. Quote
ALI Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 I think that the best drumming Travis has ever done is on the BCR album. Ohh he was nasty in that. His drumming makes There Is such a sick song. Feeling This intro- one of my favorite intros to a song ever. I want to jump out of my seat every time I hear it. Travis was my hero when I played the drums when I was younger. I very much appreciate him Quote
Scott. Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 love his drumming on 'shut up' also the whole untitled album drumming is sick Quote

actionmp Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 time to break up is an awesome travis song LOVE his drumming on that song! Me too. I would love to see it live haha, I almost think it can't be done, but then I remember it's Travis. That guy is almost inhuman when it comes to talent on the drums. Shut Up is awesome too. He brings blink so much extra energy. Quote
racerboX Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 so many.. some that really groove with the melodies are All Systems Go and Killafornia. Not necessarily very hard but they don't have to be to sound good. Quote
Fun, Catchy Pop-Punk Posted March 15, 2010 Author Posted March 15, 2010 the intro to mutt isnt great at all its very basic! Well, ya know, I like it because I think it sounds rad. Do you think technical talent is a major reason behind why we love Blink? I say "technical" because Blink has a different instrumental talent than most really skilled musicians, such as creating simple guitar riffs that sound awesome or fairly blunt lyrics that still are able to convey a strong meaning, and who could forget some of the hooks they have written. So no, I don't believe the difficulty of the song measures the quality and will agree to disagree, sir. Also, where did it say that Scott wrote the drums to Mutt? That's really interesting Quote
