Does blink owe us anything?

I have heard some people on here say that blink us us as fans something.  I want to know if that is a popular feeling.

Personally I don't think blink or any celeb owes us anything.  I never understand the thought that a celeb owes their fans anything more than what they already do.  Its like any other business.  They provide a service if you like it you buy it.  I am a huge video game fan.  My favorite are EA Sports games.  I would consider myself a fan of their games but I and I don't think anybody has ever said or thought that they owe the people that buy their games anything more.  If it wouldn't be for people buying their games they wouldn't be where they are now, just like blink wouldn't be where they are now without us.  I guess I am asking why do some people think celebs owe their fans anything more?

I agree with Matt. They don't technically "owe" us anything in the standard form of the definition.

But in the realm of what what the right thing to do, they should have released "Up all Night" and it was a dick move to hype it up as if it was coming out only to have it disappear like it never existed. That wasn't the right thing to do after the fans gave them a sold out tour. It shows absolutely no respect for the fans. Not even an explaination.

People will say it wasn't ready, and I don't buy that. But we've had this discussion.

you guys have to realize the real magic of Blink is dead, it will never be what it was. I went to their concert this summer and it was kick ass. But Tom's heart is not in it anymore, that's why he left in the first place. He did interviews basically slamming their songs and talking about how hes not 15 anymore.  And it is pretty lame for guys their age to be singing about "first date"s and what not.  Tom's heart is truly with AvA and hell do blink when he can, probably for some money and Im sure he still has an appreciation for blink, but it is not where his heart is. If it was he would be grinding out songs by now

I've never felt that Blink owed me anything, but that's just because I'm not a psycho.

We all should have learned by now that any "promise" these three make about any kind of future event isn't worth its weight in shit. In addition, I don't get why people expect things of famous bands or movie stars. Buying stuff with their name on it doesn't entitle you to a part of their lives. All that you are entitled to is whatever thing you purchased. To hope for all of this fanwank crap is natural and fine, but feeling like Blink actually owes you something is teetering on the edge of stalker/obsession territory.

To put it simply, Blink makes an album, we pay for it, and that is the end of the transaction. That's it. It's over. No one is owed anything. Anything more is a bonus.

The fact that 18 people so far have said yes actually scares me.

I voted no, but agree with this pretty much.  Or at least they owe us an EXPLANATION if they can't come through.

I don't think they're obligated to do anything for us right now so I guess I don't think they "owe" use anything.

I'm sure most people would just like a simple, concrete explanation of what's to come in future months.  Nothing major.  I know they're all really busy people and they have their own private lives but after such a huge reunion and huge summer tour last year I'd just like a simple update.

I say no, no celebrity or musician owes there fans anything (however, how much they give will determine the strength and loyalty of their fan base), but at the end of the day what they're doing is still just their job.  And at the end of the day you've gotta be working for you and your family before doing it for anyone else.
