contentloser
my band is getting ready to record and start playing gigs again and i need a new amp. i've never really bought one and don't know that much about them. i was hoping you guys could help me out. this one is in my price range and has about the wattage i need, and good reviews on the site. would you recommend this one, or brand? i used to use an ampeg and was pleased, but i can't afford the extra 100+ for it. this definitely has to be better than the 15watt i've been using at practice lately. http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Acoustic-B100-100W-1x15-Bass-Combo?sku=482900 thanks! Guest GrandpaReefer
100 watts wont mean dick if your guitar player has a 20 watt tube amp. i know you said no, but save and get the god damn ampeg.

punkkid364
Put the extra hundred on a credit card if you need to. The Ampeg is ten times the amp that the Acoustic is. Especially if you disconnect the tweeter, that thing roars. Plus, if you need more balls you can send the signal out to FOH for more volume. Ampeg = win. Always. lmnop
my ibanez bass amp is pretty small. like 30 watts or so? but it really has an awesome tone. i imagine the higher wattage amps sound good too. but everyone knows ampeg is top choice
david to the fifth power
on a budget, you seriously can't beat acoustic, my bass player is currently using the b200h with the b410 cab and for the price their amps sound pretty damn good. now obviously it's not going to be an ampeg, but to be honest the b series amps don't truly capture what an ampeg is SUPPOSED to sound like. you definitely can't go wrong with the amp you're looking at.
