Yeah a lot of people complain about AVA's intros but I honestly love them. Specifically the intros to Valkyrie Missile and True Love. Sooo epic. Especially live.

I think that people 'hate' AvA intros because they explode into nothing. I mean, a lot of them are really nice, but don't achieve an expected 'climax', if you you know what I mean. And that is frustrating.

Yeah I agree with you there. AVA could be quite an amazing instrumental band if you ask me.. the only real songs I believe they have great intro's to and fully encapsulate their ideas of the song throughout the entire song is Call to Arms and The Adventure (in my opinion).

That's it. With three albums out, AvA has a pretty decent bunch of songs that are really good, in my opinion. Maybe one day I'll abandon the laziness to do my own tracklist. And, I know I said it before, but my favourite album, th one I think is more consistent is WDNTW, by far. Is the album which is closer to achieve that 'climax' thing after the intros on some songs. The worst in that aspect is LOVE, in my opinion. I felt very 'frustrated' in a few songs exploding into nothing on that record.

The bass in Start The Machine sounds so epic with good speakers. So heavy in contrast with the light bell sounds.

wow ive always been the other way Matt's bass lines usually involve more than your standard just following the guitars progression like WDNTW.

I just like Matt better as a person. He fits in better and is way funnier.

I don't dislike Ryan though. I actually respect him a lot because when I saw AVA is 2006 he was the only band member who came out after the show to talk to and hang out with the fans.

I'm pretty sure Tom wrote most if not all the bass parts on the first two records, every time Matt was on Modblast and i'd ask him if he wrote a certian song and he'd always say Tom writes the bass parts.

If Tom didn't write the bass parts, he dictated what they would be. On Moon Atomic (I believe), Matt said he really wanted to use a bass-line he created, and Tom said he wanted it to be a bass-less song. Matt and David both enjoyed it and pitched the idea to Tom, where he humored the bass line, but in the end scrapped it. I forgot where they discussed this, I think it was on one of the blogs or podcasts or something from modlife.

Also, the whole reason Ryan quit was because Tom was too controlling and dictated the whole band. Ryan said he didn't want to be part of a band where his voice was, for the most part, unheard, so he quit. (Anyone remember that website he made where he looked like Che Guerva and had duck tape over his mouth that said "Empire".

No surprise, cause Tom can't have anyone in the band who wants some type of control, he controls that band 100% That example of the moon atomic is a prime example.

Ryan Sin also said that making wdntw was one of the most creative processes of his life (two times as i recall). I think he's a good guy but he is also a bit biased.

It seems clear Tom has the priority when it comes to opinions in the band. However, i don't think he controls with a terror regime.

Yeah every time i've talked to Ryan he always seems like such a nice dude, even when i met them all the firs time in 06 he was a wicked nice guy.

Yeah, whenever I talked to Ryan he said that he loved whenever they were trying to figure out what AVA was going to be and how it was going to sound, but didn't like what it had ultimately become.
