reiss. Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 I hate this band and I this "scene". They are the absolute epitome of what is wrong with music today. Quote
Malibu BeachHouse Roommate Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 I hate this band and I this "scene". They are the absolute epitome of what is wrong with music today. DISAGREE. big time. I'm glad we have bands that still play actual instruments and implement two of my favorite genres into their music. Pop-Punk and Hardcore. They're probably one of the only really scene bands I like. It's a shame that they have this stigma attached now that they're getting more mainstream. I usually don't hold that against a band, (e.g. Fall Out Boy) but it just sucks they receive hate because of that. I'm not saying you are, maybe you just don't like their music. It's just a thing I noticed from other people. When I think of the epitome of everything wrong with music, I think of the autoxtuned/crunkxcore/nevershoutnever/owl city bullshit. Also, ke$ha. I remember when songs actually meant something, and weren't popular because of the beat. I mean, they were popular because they were catchy. But songs actually had meaning to them. Big radio hits like "Everlong" by the Foo Fighters had more to it than the "catchiness" I think what happened somewhere between underoath and soulja boy is people realized how easy it was to make music. It didn't even have to make sense, which is cool, I mean the whole point of music to me is having fun and jamming with your friends. But something went wrong in the last couple years, it was like everyone who had an old keyboard sitting around in their basement found out how to loop beats and then put some nonsense bullshit over it. I can respect that though....to a degree. Only because the concept is so stupid, it sells, and the bands are making big money off of it. It follows the same path bottled water took years ago. You're paying for something that covers 75% of the planet...Sure it's cleaner and more convenient, but it's just so fucking stupid to pay for something that's essentially free. I digress. I'm not saying I like brokenCYDE, but I'm not gonna sit here and hate on them because I'm jealous they're famous. They're actually pretty decent guys in real life. I follow them on twitter. One time Seven asked anyone in the chicagoland area to go smoke him out because he was at O'hare delayed for 3 hours. I was so down, I just couldn't get my hands on anything aha. Anyway, I respect you Reiss. We have a pretty similar music taste. I'm just saying that there's bigger things out there wrong with music. Quote

reiss. Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Also Reiss is an elitist punk who hates success. Because I don't like a band I'm an "elitist punk"? Give me a fucking break. Maybe it's because I'm sick of tools like you attending New Found Glory shows and slam-dancing like a fucking ape because of bands like A Day To Remember, Four Year Strong, and Set Your Goals trying to fuse the genres together thus resulting in "bro-core" loving idiots ruining it for the real fans. Fuck A Day To Remember, fuck Four Year Strong, fuck Set Your Goals, and fuck new-era Gilbert controlled New Found Glory. I'll stick to real pop-punk, thanks. Quote

Let me re-phrase: They are everything that is wrong with the pop-punk scene today and I was saying this before any "mainstream" success. The last time I saw New Found Glory, a band I've seen 15 times, it was absolutely fucking terrible because of try-hards running around in A Day To Remember shirts trying to kick the shit out of everyone and anyone because of this idiotic "bro-core" tag that keeps getting thrown around. I'm all for opinions and each to their own, but when other scenes begin to feel the effects of a fad, because let's face it - that's all it is, I call bullshit. Quote
bennett Posted June 16, 2010 Author Posted June 16, 2010 before my friend introduced me to them, i would have NEVER listened to this type of music. the hardest i got was senses fail and they do occasional screaming. even in the beginning when i would listen to adtr, i didnt really like the scream parts, but loved the rest of their stuff. now i just love it all. also i finally watched the Homesick dvd and it was hilarious. loved it! I will admit, they do know to write a catchy chorus. I think I have more an issue with the large majority of their fanbase, rather then the band themselves. Quote
Fun, Catchy Pop-Punk Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 I agree with Reiss, that is all. Same here, which is an odd feeling. But I don't agree with these bands/scene being the epitome of what's wrong with the industry. There are far worse things out there, like that Bieber kid and Nickleback. Quote

Obviously you aren't there when I'm at New Found because I try to avoid those people. Sorry I don't tat my entire body up and act like a bad ass because I still listen to bands whose glory days are 20+ years behind them but still act like they are the greatest thing in the world. And then I trash any other band that I don't like saying they are what's wrong with music. I guess that's what true music fans do though. Quote

Are you actually going to sit on a Blink-182 message board and attempt to trash me for having tattoos and liking punk rock music? If so, you're even more idiotic than I thought. Seriously Brenden, you need to quit making yourself look so fucking stupid and get over me. Quote
