Fun, Catchy Pop-Punk Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 A spin off from that thread in ADITL forum, but what musician have you met that has the most interesting/funny/cool personality? For me, it's easily Benny Horowitz (drummer from TGA). He was so chill and such a nice guy, we talked about sports for a while and he even knew about the CFL (I wouldn't expect most Americans to know about it), the dude knows his sports. And we talked about other bands, all in good taste. And we talked about weed for a bit and he told me how he blazed before that night's show so I gave him a dime bag. All in all, it felt like I was just talking to one of my close friends the whole time, just a really down to earth guy, and not some stuck up musician. Quote
Ghost Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Dave King, from Flogging Molly. He's such a really gentleman. I interviewed him back in 2005, and he was totally charming. Awesome man. Also, I found out that Cone, from Sum 41, is a really polite guy too, very nice person and more 'quiet' that his bandmates, haha. Quote
epi... Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Mike Brown, the bari sax player in Streetlight Manifesto is an amazing dude. I talked to him for a good ten minutes after their last show in Poughkeepsee. As well as Matt Stewart, their trumpet player. Briefly got to talk to their drummer Chris Thatcher, but he was in a hurry. They all seem like very chill guys. Quote
_Kyle_ Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Can't pick one. But I've talked to a few interesting people. Tim Kasher (Cursive, The Good Life, Commander Venus): Seemed normal and generally cool. Signed my set-list. John Ralston: Really nice, appreciative to talk. A short man. Nate Ruess (The Format, fun.) Awesome guy. Had a great energy about him. This was before Aim and Ignite came out and talked about what he's doing with that. Nice guy. Dan Hunter (Analog Rebellion/PlayRadioPlay!): Kind of standoffish. Met him on three seperate occasions and never remembered me. Seemed really shy Andy Hull (Manchester Orchestra, Bad Books, Right Away! Great Captain): Nice and genuine. Told me how they chose the artwork for I'm Like A Virgin Losing A Child Chris Conley (Saves The Day, Two Tongues) Really nice. Seemed really stoked to talk to me. John Nolan (Taking Back Sunday, Straylight Run) Short guy, really nice too. Craig Owens (ex-Chiodos, Cinematic Sunrise, D.R.U.G.S.): Seemed to be pretty nice. Didn't really have much to talk about, but had nice eyes. Joseph Marro (The Early November, Hellogoodbye): Was polite, but kind of seemed like he hated being at the show. It was TEN's farewell tour and he seemed eager to leave. I think he didn't like being in TEN at that point. Darren Hanlon: Extremely nice guy. He's from Australia and is pretty good. Justin Pierre (Motion City Soundtrack, Farewell Continental): Met him twice. The first time he didn't speak and only nodded and bowed. He was resting his voice, but the second time he was really happy and talked a lot. Those are the only ones where I talked to them. Mostly about music or how touring is. I'm kind of bad striking up conversations about random things. Quote
Scott. Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Most of the ones I wanna meet are dead Quote
'Ah...Lex' Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Justin Pierre. He didn't mind that I was shitfaced aha. Quote
lmnop Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 cyrus balooki (drummer of NFG) was incredibly nice. i saw him outside a show of theirs. he was getting something from his luggage at their bus and a bunch of us said hi and shook his hand. Quote
TΦM Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Cone and Steve from sum 41 were really chill. Quote
Roux Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Frank Carter from Gallows and Davey Havok were pretty awesome to hang out with. Quote
Chewy030 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Chad Gilbert from NFG, dude was super cool and very laid back. I met him this past summer when he was watching one of the opening bands at their show, wasn't getting noticed or talk to by anyone else. Quote
Malibu BeachHouse Roommate Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Mark Rose from Spitalfield. He actually commented on my fb status a couple days ago Quote
fElon Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Pharrell Williams was really cool. Seemed so down to earth for the amount of fame he has. Didn't seem like your typical "I am bigger than God" rapper. Cone and Steve from sum 41 were really chill. Really? I had always heard they were dickheads to fans. I watch bonus footage on "Does this look infected" they looked total immature morons. Maybe it was for the cameras. Quote
TΦM Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Yeah ive seen that footage and they were nothing like that. Since dave left i think they are having alot more fun, Cone had a good chat to me and my mate about india and talked a little about the scumfuck single we said we liked. Steve was just fucking around and while he didnt say much was a down to earth guy. Quote
Ghost Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Cone and Steve from sum 41 were really chill. Yeah, Steve is really fun and nice person. I also met Deryck, he seems like a really SHY person. Dennis, the guitar player of Flogging Molly is an awesome dude too. Quote
shane Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 All of Alkaline Trio...met them a bunch of times and they're always so chill and cool. hell yeah I only met them once such a chill bunch of guys I wanna drink with Matt Quote
Love is For the Rich Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Kevin Devine. Both his brother and mine were killed, and so I told him what an awesome CD Brother's Blood was and thanked him for writing songs that deal with the true shit in life. He gave me a signed copy and even dedicated Cotton Crush to me when he performed, haha. Best show I've ever been too. Quote
BoogieMan Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Warped Tour 04 was like the best year for chilling with bands, I got to chill with some cool ones when they were playing the smart punk stage and chilled at their booths. Claudio Sanchez from Coheed was a cool dude. Justin from MCS and Sonny Moore. All fucking sweet dudes. there are far more but this thread made me think of those 3. Quote
