Fun, Catchy Pop-Punk Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 That Tom took a shit on the image for the first few years when the band was first estabalished. Him saying the album would be the most revolutionary rock album in 20 years was face palm worthy, and then Mark doing an interview on how Blink broke up around the same time made AvA seem really douchey to me. But the music is actually pretty good. Tom writes some great hooks and I really dig the synthesizers (especially when high). Love had a bit too much filler between tracks, but for the most part it was a good album, and everything else they have produced has been pretty good. However, I can give respect to Tom because I also believe he's sticking in AvA for the sake of his fellow band mates. To fuck over two different bands back-to-back would look pretty bad, so good on him for staying on good terms with both his bands now. Quote

I agree. Although I agree that WDNTW has the best songs AvA will ever release, I still enjoy LOVE and I'll probably enjoy any new tracks they put out. I just love Tom's melodies and songs. Quote

Otherwise awesome songs such as The Adventure, Love Like Rockets and Some Origins of Fire all have great riffs and verses but crappy, anti-climactic choruses. Quote

I think that's where having an actual (good) producer would really help out. Someone who's not so wrapped up in each song's creation could weed out the bad ideas and take the good ones to the next level. Quote

For the two albums the priority was having something to go along with the movie or to have something to give away for free online, and the quality of the music has suffered because of that. Quote

I think the best example is Young London. That would have been the most rad blink song but it was dumbed down with douchery. Still the best on the album, but it could have been so much better. Quote

Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 the one thing i will say about Tom and AVA as much as people want him to, he would be dumb to give it up. i dont ever expect him to give up AVA and focus 100% on blink. he spent the past how ever many years creating AVA. it will never be as influential or touch blink 182s success, but for him to completely throw it away would be ridiculous. That might not make sense, but I think it's true. Most would be a lot more interested in AVA if he wasn't so damn obsessed with it. Just admit that blink is the bigger, better band and let your AVA music speak for itself. If it came off as an underground side project to blink it would probably be more popular. Instead, it comes off as the retarded half bred spawn of blink 182 that gets everything handed to it. Quote

I mean I guess we have a little bit of that already with some of the riffs and stuff, but some full fledged boxcar type songs would be cool. I almost think they should release another album under the name boxcar racer, it would have to be okay with travis though but that would be a good way to continue maybe... I dont know, im just thinking out loud. Quote
