E3 2011

I figured we should have a topic for this.

Microsoft is about to have their event where they'll be showing off Halo 4 as well as a remake of the original Halo, as well as some other Kinect titles.  don't know what else to expect, can't imagine there will be any other bombshells aside from that.

Sony has its conference tonight, don't know what they'll be showing off aside from the NGP, which is rumored to now be called the Playstation Vita (latin for life).

Nintendo is tomorrow where they'll show off their new console tentatively titled Project Cafe, but the strongest rumor right now is that its actual name will be simply Nintendo.  Also rumored is the unveiling of another brand new Zelda (not Skyward Sword).  They'll likely show off the new handheld 3D Mario platformer and a collection of other new flagship titles.

Seems to be a very promising event this year for all companies.  Love getting geeky video game info.

halo 4? i thought they were done

We all did.  I think its time to face the fact that Halo will never die, its Microsoft's bread and butter.  The remake of the original has already been confirmed.

It also appears that Minecraft is coming exclusively (in terms of consoles) to the 360.

Edit: Halo 4 has indeed been confirmed.

Loved how the Battlefield 3 was played on PC. However, EA's new Origin store (their version of Steam) seems a waste of time. I've got almost every PC game I play on Steam, so I've go zero interest in another account for PC gaming. Seems to be a popular opinion too on other websites/forums.

So the new Nintendo console is called the WiiU

The 6in touch screen in the controller was confirmed and they showed off all its possiblities.  And showed off the graphical capabilities of the console (looks phenomenal).  it appears that many 3rd parties are eager to develop for it, and Nintendo also appears to be doing the legit online experience as well.  It seems very exciting.

these japs need to come up with some better names for consoles

haha I'll agree with you there.  Nintendo's best name was one they didn't even use, the Revolution.

Still the system looks awesome, and they confirmed a new Smash Brothers, fucking yes!

I only saw the demo with the ocean and the fish along with the montage of new games for it, but it really wasn't that that groundbreaking or impressive.  Looked on par with the 360/PS3, not any better, not any worse.  But it's launching almost 6 years after they did, so that's pretty weak.

yup, it's kinda lost that magic. especially when you see it being covered on news channels and other sources of media that have no connection to video games.  I guess it's that old man in me that can't except the new, "back in my day i had to carry my xbox to a friends house up a hill in a blah blah blah"

"we use to have use the red, yellow and white cables... You probably don't even know what those are"

Said in an old mans voice.

But yay Sims 3 Pets. Mean. Well it would be if I could play it on something.

I am so excited for Zelda: Skyward Sword but I am sick of waiting for it year after year. Nintendo really did a terrible job when it came to releasing Zelda games on Wii. We got a Gamecube port, a stupid mini-game (Crossbow Training) and now we're finally getting a full on original Zelda game but it's coming right at the console's death. I hope the WiiU (stupid name) does better with Zelda.
