Blink-182 pisses me off now.

I loved blink then and I love blink now. The way they are doing things now is far more organic and less commercial than it was when they were huge.

Not sure if serious.  So renting out a house together and recording an album is less organic than recording songs via correspondence, often leaving certain band members entirely absent from their recording?  Ghent, sometimes you say the stupidest shit.

It's more organic because back in the day they were purposely writing teeny pop punk songs to sell records. Now it is a true collaboration. They work on their own time and aren't worried so much about money and promotion and all the corporate bs. imo, it's a lot more organic.

Yeah, untitled was really organic. They wrote more than one album before neighborhoods...stop being so condescending.

I still get mad thinking about how they talked about naming the tour One way ticket to boneville and decided the better name would be

"AT&T presents...." Lol.

You're mad because the company sponsoring their tour wanted their name somewhere? lol.

Yeah, I am. What kind of tour is named completely after the sponsor. I can understand the ____ tour sponsored by AT&T but come on.

Just because you're on a tour doesn't mean there has to be a name of it.

It say's AT&T presents Blink 182. Which is what they are doing. Because they're paying for them to be able to be on the road in the first place. I don't see the issue here? It's not called the AT&T Wireless tour.

What about the Honda Civic Tour? They started it 10 years ago and it's clearly named after the sponsor, but yet, that's not an issue?

Meh, I just think they are old and this was all eventually going to happen anyway.

Probably, but we'll never know how thing would've gone down had they never broken up :|

Meaning if the band would have slowly shifted into the band they are now, or if they still would be acting like they were in their 20s.

I totally agree with Aria. I've known since about 2010 when Tom went immediately back to AVA. Its a cash register. They don't give a fuck anymore. At first I was mad, and I still debate with blink ass kissers.

But like most here, I don't care anymore. I got roped back in when they did finally released the album, that MAYBE just MAYBE things would go back to how it was. Tom went back to AVA, and that was the end of that. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

The Blink of yesteryear is over and done with. I enjoyed the album, I will continue to play it. But they are not the Blink 182 that I use to love.

If people could learn to enjoy Angels then it wouldn't be such an issue. The only people crying foul are the super Blink fan boys that can't accept or learn to enjoy what Tom does in his spare time. We get it most of you are "to cool" for Angels and the music is "Shit" to you. Obviously a shit ton of people enjoy it and having both bands means "MORE MUSIC".

Edit- Tom is proactive with his time, deal with it. He takes advantage of all the free time he has and makes the best of it. If you love Angels and Blink then you praise the guy for it. If you are not a fan or hate Angels then you curse him for not giving Blink 100 percent of his precious time. Grow up and get over it, the guy wants to enjoy all walks of life.

Blink-182 have made themselves into a corporation, that much was clear from that big magazine interview earlier this year.  It's up to them to reel it in a bit.

I'm not asking them to be a punk band again, but it's pretty obvious they aren't really in control of their band anymore.  They need to stop listening to whoever is telling them they need to play the greatest hits setlist every tour.  Even the reviewer from the local paper noticed the setlist was the same from two years earlier, don't think that casual fans aren't noticing either.

They also jacked up ticket prices about 40% from 2009 to 2011, at least for the Calgary show.  Result: 50% less attendance.  Whoever advised them on these price changes is an idiot.  I'd put my money on Rick Devoe, who seems to think he knows a lot about business although he seems like the type of guy that barely passed high school.

Stop being happy to be here, and start taking control of your band blink-182.

Another silly post by Markblowhard.

I am not "too cool" for AVA. I've seen them in concert like 4 times. I got the first couple of Albums. I gave them a chance.

They fucking suck. Forget the style, the songwriting itself is so horrible has has been so much worse as time has gone on.

Spare time? Tom doesn't seem to have any spare time if it takes him 2 years to get a fucking album done and he doesn't have time to rehearse new songs for the tour. That isn't spare time my friend.

I think blink are just as good and just as genuine. it's just that blink is part time now. to me, it's a quantity issue, not a quality issue.

But you'd never say anything negative about Blink.

I'm the same as Jon.

I still love Blink but I have more pressing matters in my life now to really care about every little thing they do. I enjoy the album and listen to it a lot but don't look into every little detail in interviews/news etc...far more important stuff to worry and get worked up about.

What I will say is Blink aren't just a band like they were back in the day....they're businessmen involved in multiple ventures, it's impossible to allocate the same amount of time for Blink anymore.

Aria, basically everything you have said is a total matter of opinion.

"I like that blink style more but still...  this album took longer than untitled"

They recorded allot of it in separate studios? What do you expect?

"What if we actually really really tried.. the record would sound so good." That's hilarious, Tom.

Dont put this in quotes like he ever actually said that.

You know he didnt.

It was more something along the lines of

"Think of what we could accomplish if we locked ourselves in a room for a year"

Huh?  I rarely insult you.

I disagreed with your post, provided a counterargument, and received nothing in response haha.

It is Ghent's trademark.

I like Ghent, but its so true that he always disappears from debates. Except when its with Niku.  :-P

Blink has been a huge disappointment. I could go on and on about how my favorite childhood-teenage band has been nothing but a letdown.

Number 1, the album was just half-assed. The entire thing is just generic, basic pop-punk of choppy songs they wrote in separate studios from each other. They took WAY too long to write an album so bland, be it catchy or not.

The band treats its fans like shit. They act like they go over and beyond to treat us with new songs or video clips when its expected of every other band to do so. Bullshit tweets and non-committal statements are no way to tell fans what's what. We deserve more than what they've given as as such committed fans. The fact that they barely played any new songs in that last show reflects how little they're concerned with being a legitimate rock band.

Finally, I think it's time to admit that the band (mainly because of Tom) has become a pretty awful live act (as far as performance goes.) Personally, I could go up there and sing and play guitar ten times better than he can on his own songs. Honestly, that drunken whine and choppy, off beat guitar playing is inexcusable for a guy in a million-dollar rock band, and its gotten ridiculous.

Im not saying blink owes us any more music or anything, but if theyre gonna do it, then they should do it right. If theyre not gonna take being a band seriously, they shouldve never gotten back together.
