Aaron Rubin No.1 Fan
The fact they haven't made a proper live action DBZ is kinda crazy though. All the elements are there for some really cool shit, like a David Fincher vibe maybe? Idk, but lot of potential there. Or like..Halo? I guess video games never really have a great track record of becoming movies - must scare em away. Tomb Raider? What else is there even. Silent Hill? The tech is finally catching up. Halo had a tv show and it bombed iirc.

Max Payne, DOOM, Street Fighter, etc. The “good” one were Resident Evil, Mario, Tomb Raider, and Mortal Kombat (and the Last of Us show).

Always had a soft spot for the second Pokemon movie (The Power of One or 2000 depending on you label it), I liked the new Mortal Kombat a lot, and I hear the Twisted Metal series is really solid. About to check that one out myself.

That’s not a video game movie but a Pokémon anime series movie.
Aaron Rubin No.1 Fan
Pokémon red/blue/yellow > silver/gold > Cards > Snap > Stadium > puzzle league Haven’t played any other newer ones but those were hot fire.

But the anime wouldn't exist without the video game. I say it counts. In that same vein that animated Castlevania series on Netflix is awesome.

Video game movies have definitely come a far way. I think I’m most excited for Amazon’s Fallout series.

Gotta agree with Mike here, I think if it didn’t exist but for the video games, it should count.
Aaron Rubin No.1 Fan
Fuck Pokemon movie made me cry, ngl. Forgot about that one. Pokemon was legit, idk about ya'll, but we played that outside at least. Gameboy was fucking lit.
JarJarBlinks
I appreciate DOOM for being an Aliens rip off. It's mostly "okay" until the Rock turns into a demon lol.

Fair points fellas. Anime series definitely counts just wouldn’t separate the movies as different things.
Ghent
The great thing about a Zelda movie for me is that it has no stakes or expectations. I can’t imagine that it could ruin the franchise for me as it’s fully entrenched. If it sucks, it will be ignored. If it’s good, it could open up a whole new world of Zelda. I’ve wanted it to happen for a long time now (since the IGN April Fools prank). But I don’t even know what I expect or want out of it? That seems like a good thing creatively. Also, the canon is so convoluted that they can essentially do whatever they want as long as it checks the main boxes.
Maddey
I’m super stoked for that Zelda movie. It’d be cool if it’s done with fairly unknown actors.
allsystemsgo
Star Ocean 2: Second Story R I love how they're bringing these classics from the PS1 era and giving them a facelift in visuals and QoL. Music slaps too.
Cheerios4u98
Hope the live-action Zelda movie is a repeat of the live-action Mario movie. Give us a terrible shitty live-action sci-fi that barely resembles the source material, let us sit on it for 30 years, then give us a good animated movie instead. (fwiw I actually love the 90s Mario movie lol)
Cheerios4u98
I guess I'm not surprised they'd go with Zelda considering it's more popular, but I think the Nintendo franchise that would translate best to a movie would be Metroid. Though maybe not, a tame version of Alien made for kids to watch might not be that great lol

Metroid probably would be next in line considering the biggest properties are now covered between Mario, Zelda, and Pokémon. I imagine there is probably a DK spinoff film in the pipeline too, at least if Nintendo is going after movies as hard as the should.

If we’re going by sales, Animal Crossing is the 2nd highest selling game on Switch (after Mario Kart).
Aaron Rubin No.1 Fan
So Grand Theft Auto 6 is supposed to come out 2024? That's interesting. Vice City > rest, but always thought they were all pretty fun.
