Majestic McMoose Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 as much as im not really into AvA i think the main riff for DIFMN sounds really cool acoustic. Toms always written songs on acoustic, so i honestly think he writes cool little riffs then just covers it with delays and shit like Ghent said. Also id be fine with him changing his writing style for riff to mainly chords if he'd come out with more stuff like the intro of not now. Quote
blink--182 Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Wow. That sirens riff is brilliant. I will definitely learn that Quote
bastard Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Dont know why we don't hear em anymore, but I sure do miss them. Quote
CrackedSkye Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 When its played like that, yeah. But that hardly sounds how the actual song does. dude that is the same riff as the chorus just in a different key..listen Quote
Broken English Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 If anyone's lost touch it's Mark, he hasn't written anything memorable since (+44). His songs on Neighbourhoods and the new EP are pretty below par IMO, and his singing seems way more strained than it has before. 1 Quote
Low Value Boy Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 I gotta agree on the Mark thing, he was always my favourite of the two but his songs are just chords with a pretty bland guitar sound/style, at least Tom actually uses lead/intricate riffs in his parts. Quote

My favourite songs since the reunion have been: Disasters, Pretty little girl, Snake charmer, Love is dangerous, Even if she falls only dogs eating dogs and kaleidoscope( that seems to be mark´s ideas) are up there with tom songs. Except for the fact that MH and Heart's all gone were fantastic I agree with this! Quote

thongrider Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 I enjoy Heart´s all gone but MH to me seems boring. I found that crazy, it's easily the best song on the album(Except for Even if she falls) in my opinion. Quote
Majestic McMoose Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 the more i think about it, a lot of the "toms taking/taken over" things people say could easily just be that marks not really having enough of an obvious input, so it seems like toms essentially picking up the slack Quote
fElon Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 I like Mark but his songwriting has been disappointing since Untitled. I think he's lost his touch. This is a guy who use to write songs like Dammit, Josie, Adam's song, WMAA, etc. Quote

Majestic McMoose Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 hopefully the positive reaction to DED as a whole and people getting more comfortable with the direction they're going will encourage them to mix it up a little. Its been 4/5 years, just hits with 1 or 2 other songs is shocking. Setlists as mixed up as the self titled tour'd be sweet. even just a medley Quote
'Ah...Lex' Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 they're all a bunch of cunts the view of this board Quote
dildo69er Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 I've always though the lead riff in the chorus of the record version of Sirens sounds sweet, one of my fav AVA songs. i think its one of toms best songs, always loved everything about that song Quote
Low Value Boy Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Sirens sounds like it could have been on Dogs Eating Dogs, that and Rite of Spring are the two AVA songs which I think sound most like they could have actually been blink songs. Quote
fElon Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Not to mention his views on a Setlist are HORRIBLE....Marks always been my favorite Blink member but i just hate his views on how a setlist should be. I am starting to get the feeling that Mark has developed a lot of self doubt. He doesn't want to play new songs for fear that people don't want to hear them and by his own admission he doubts the songs he writes. Tom is exactly the opposite. He thinks he is amazing and can accomplish anything. I get the feeling Mark feels washed up, old, irrevelent, and that his best days are behind him. He might not be comfortable in his own skin. It would explain why he sometimes attaches himself to whatever is popular at the time (Pete Wentz). However, Tom and Travis are 100% comfortable with who they are. Quote
