I've always thought Gerald was a pretty cool guy (after he sobered up), but yeah, the guy is pretentious as fuck with his explanation.

I think he's just delivering to an audience that needs to hear that. Honestly, you think the majority of MCR would be able to rationalize that MCR was just a band that simply parted different ways?

That song wasn't very good, for MCR at least. I consider Conventional Weapons to be their last hurrah, while ignoring the fact that Danger Days even existed. God, that album was shit

'Light Behind Your Eyes' was a fantastic track off CW, but this will be my all-time favorite MCR song.

I'm way different. That new song is pretty good but not great, didn't really like Conventional Weapons except a song or two, and Black Parade/Danger Days are both 10/10 albums. Hope they get back together in a couple years they still had a good album in them for me judging by the latest song

Gotta love Famous Last Words. I miss when Welcome to the Black Parade was the biggest song going around and everyone at high school was either loving it or calling everyone that liked it emos. Ahh high schoolers

Hahaha I wish I went to an American highschool during those times (went to a private catholic school), I feel like I suppressed any sort of click-affiliation and ended up going the scenester fashion route at an embarrassing older age for a few months. I wasn't a fan of the theme DD was about, I thought it was too "hey teenage angst we still relate to you!" feeling. It didn't feel like a progression in any sort of music sense, just a change in scene and appearance.

CW was a surprise only because I remember after Black Parade, they released a statement saying they were digging up their roots for the new album and it sounded much more raw and broken down. DD was anything but that, so to me CW was the album I was waiting for. Unfortunately, it didn't feel like an album but just a collection of songs - but that's exactly what it was supposed to be so I didn't mind too much. No question BP was fucking awesome though, as is Three Cheers.

Well, this kid I knew kept making these really serious videos of himself lipsyncing in black and white to female power ballads. Mariah Carey, etc. So I made that one and sent it to my friends.

Wow, this was last year and i had no idea it happened :P

I saw their last show with their old drummer on the Honda Civic Tour with blink. Got home from the show, and saw online that they had kicked out their drummer. A week later I went to Peru and never heard anything about MCR again until I saw this thread today. Interesting.

That drummer was actually a replacement drummer I believe - Bob Briar (sp?) left the band under bad terms, but the 'new' drummer stole money from them! I think Bob had a falling out with the bassist Mikey Way because the dude's a fucking cunt. He cheated (openly) on his wife with some like, 17 year old model, and continued to post pictures of them all over the internet. While he was still married. Fuck that guy.

I have way more respect for these guys now. They had some stupid teeny stuff but they were great musicians, Gerard was a great writer who didn't need writers for hire, and knew when to break up and stay broken up.

Some of their stuff is actually really good.

Bumping a thread that’s been dead for over 5 years just to make some lame dig at blink. Quite sad.

Not exactly. I use to really hate them. Called them My Chemical Bromance, even saw they twice live and just rolled my eyes.

I am revisiting a lot of their stuff and its pretty great. The guitar work is great, the lyrics are clever, the songwriting is good. They went out on top and stayed out on top.

Its hard to not make Blink comparisons for the Simple fact that they have everything Blink currently doesn't have.
