What TV show are you watching?

Yeah it’s the opposite for me tbh. I’d prefer to watch it through and then look back. Don’t want other peoples opinions or judgements affect the way I’m going to be viewing future episodes.

Once I’m done, if it’s a series I’ve really enjoyed, then I’ll jump down the rabbit hole and read peoples opinions. I can still remember how I felt when watching it etc so i can see if people’s reactions were the same.

I actually enjoy the live discussion for shows with people watching it at the same time. Because none of us know where it’s going.

Yeah, normally I do that but I've basically watched 20 movies already, it's been 40+ hours.  It's a lot to digest and a lot happened.

But that's why I'm super odd about shows and never watch them live, for that exact reason.  I can't handle all the chatter and trendiness/pop culture of it while it's going.  I don't want to be influenced in any way if it's that good.

So basically, anytime I hear a show is amazing or w.e, like BB, GoT, I check out immediately then go back and watch it when the time is right.

Yeah, it's weird.  But I feel like it's better to watch them at face value with no outside noise if it's that life changing.

Also, the whole waiting thing.  I don't know how people do that.  Major cliffhanger, then you needa wait a week/month/year?  Fuck that.

I do enjoy watching shows live and having the weekly discussion with everyone else who's watching. It was especially fun with really big WTF shows like WandaVision. And with my Star Wars bias it's extremely fun when a season of Mandalorian is airing. But there is something great about starting a series that's already finished and just being able to go through it as fast as you want.

I didn't start GoT until it was 6 seasons in (I think) and found out later that some of the parts that people felt dragged on didn't feel like that at all for me because instead of waiting weeks for the next part of the story I just watched five episodes in one day and it all went by quickly lol

I watch (mostly listen while multitasking 🙃) too much tv. This will be hard for me. This looks like mostly HBO? I have a few of these shows on my list, but have only seen a bit of Better Call Saul.

I have heard good things about Severance though.  Going to binge watch that, BCS, or Sopranos after GoT.

I have been wanting to rewatch the Sopranos. That’s on my all time top list, but that’s on most people’s who have seen it I think. I’m basic, I know this. 🤣

I'm kind of burnt out of the whole mafia thing and looks so cheesy to me, but I've seen it placed at the top of enough people's list to want to check out.

Carlito's way is the best mob movie btw, I don't care what they say.

Followed closely by Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Godfather, Departed

I’ve watched soo little tv shows this year. I think the only show I’ve watched with new episodes from this year is Euphoria, but wouldn’t consider it a fav, mainly watched it cause everyone else did

Only show I’ve watched this year which I really liked is Succession tbh. And I still miss it :(

I forgot about Succession as it’s been so long since I finished it. Easily a top 3 show on tv currently.

I'm sorry, I tried to wait, but when did GoT become Kill Bill vol. 2?  Everything is now just a revenge porn, primarily by a female character?  It's not that I don't like those things, but it just feels like a total tonal shift from the first 4/5-ish seasons. This was never the show. Everything was so nihilistic, suspenseful, justice was very little spread throughout, a pretty realistic feel of a medieval setting instead of straight fantasy. And that was kind of the beauty of it.  No usual fantasy, good guy/bad guy tropes.  It was not a typical drama that has all these emotional arcs that hit all the feels.

So after a near perfect first 4/5 seasons of this..here comes the last few episodes of season 6.

Our Jon, our sexy Jon, because he's cute and needs to stick around past the books for fan service, we need to sacrifice Stannis, an awesome badass character, and make room for Jon instead, even though we're also going to have him be the stupidest guy on the  battlefield.  But wait - sword swinging! slow motion! it's so cool guys.  Fuck the whole first half of the show, where he would be ridiculed, possibly killed (again) for being a dumbass and rushing on the field in emotional outburst, putting his whole fleet at risk, just because he got emotional.  Smh.  Shit is just annoying, but wait, this was just the start of it all.  I'll take Sansa getting her revenge on Ramsay, but let's be honest, it could have/should have very well been Stannis, and Theon getting the revenge.  But old, 10x more realistic man in Stannis punching out Ramsay is not nearly as emotionally impactful for the twilight fans out there (which is now the shows goal, if you haven't caught my drift yet) as sexy Jon whaling on him.

Oh wait, Jon wasn't supposed to be at the battle yet and Stannis never died yet in the books doing something stupid?  Tell me why I'm NOT FUCKING SURPRISED.

Okay, but I still like Jon Snow.  I can handle one hearthrob on the show, even if it's not super fitting in comparison to the first seasons.  Change is alright, right?  At least we don't have some new evil character, that plays up to every evil character trope, is coked out of his mind with muttin chops that seems like he could be a contestant on fuck boy island, oh wait!  Here's Euron Greyjoy to add to the mix.  Perfect, give this guy a guitar, he is like some out of place rockstar that belongs stage diving.  Flirting with Cersei right up on the iron throne with no reprecautions?  Are they trying to completely break the 4th wall or something?

Euron is officially the Office Will Farrell of GoT.  He's here to give a couple laughs, but completely sink the ship.

At least Tyrion is still alive though, right? To further his wonderful character, and not just completely plateau his character by giving us solely dick and drinking jokes now.  At least he's not just doing that now.

Let's not even comment on how the dialogue has completely jumped out the window Tommen style (which we will talk very little about in the show, our king, committing suicide..) and they are just referring to earlier episodes in the show is never a good sign either. "remember this? yes I remember".  I'm still here for the action, as that has not faltered, but man I'm just going to mute it anytime Jon Snow and Deanyrus need to share dialogue

Arya can basically transform into anyone? Bran can teleport soon I'm sure.  Dragons are flying aimlessly.  Red women can ressurect people.  Evil Measter of Cersei can resurrect people.  Giant explosions, leftover plot device from Tyrion/Blackwater episode can tear a capital down.  Oh, almost forgot, most importantly - if the fan service, newfound drama did not pull you in enough and sell enough merch...we bring you..

Ed Shereen

They definitely jumped shark.  It's okay, happens to every show.

Still finishing S7 and have S8 to go, so not hating, love the show, but I understand why people bitched so much once they lost the book material and turned it into a drama.  I would put it above Lost, so many interesting storylines and visuals that make it so engaging, and Lost did the same shit at the end.  I am already wanting to rewatch the first several seasons.

Don't get offended Coight.✌️

My Star Wars bias is high lol. It was a real good year for nerd shows.

Is Wednesday that good?

I've heard basically nothing but good things about it. I watched the first two episodes and it didn't really seem like it was for me, but I was also falling asleep because I had a bad insomnia night the night before. I don't know, I might give it another chance.

I lol’d at “reprecautions”

season 8 is somehow worse despite having more plot points and a higher budget. Just know the central plot points will match the book, just everything else was done poorly

I finally finished GoT.

Yeah, I think everything that's already been said about seasons 7 & 8 + the finale has already been said enough.  But from watching it straight through, I can say I was able to separate it pretty easily as just an obvious different show.  From a book-feel dialogue and setup driven well crafted show seasons 1-4, to a bit sloppy but still very good seasons 5-6, to just an action fan service entertainment seasons 7-8.

I actually didn't mind Danny going 'mad queen' at the end.  Watching straight through in a couple months, it wasn't that surprising, because she did that stuff throughout seasons 1-2.  But the execution was awful.  Just pretty much everything was bordering on bad in the final two seasons, like plot armour too.. It was way too casual of a reaction to her torching the city too.. like, wut?  So much to say, but it's all already been said before.  Should have been more of a battle at the end for the throne and not just "here, Bran, you're the only character left besides Snow"

Euron, characters dumbed down, and the shite dialogue bothered me more than the poor plot armour/plot choices/action packed thriller throughout final seasons.

I get it though, they ran out of book material and apparently wanted to move onto something else/were burnt out.  So they just turned it into a bit of an action drama with Jon Snow, Deanyrus, and the rest of the characters.  It was still visually stunning and entertaining to watch, just stopped caring significantly once the stakes were lowered and everyone's IQ dropped 100 points.

That said, I'm here to post what everyone was waiting for:

1. Breaking Bad  2. Office  3. GoT  4. Lost

I love/hate GoT really.  It's so good at times, but so not my thing at times.  I don't like excessive gore to be edgy, only when it's humorous.  And there was ton of it, and rape, and naked siblings, kids getting murdered, etc.   The multiple storylines/writing, visuals/settings were too good though not to be one of the best shows ever.  I probably would like the books better though, because characters like Stannis/Euron aren't butchered in there.
