Knapppers
I really dont think it made much of a difference with Tom just because both guitars had such high output pickups. I think he changed his rig up a bit when he went to the gibson too
bennett
really doesnt have much to do with fender and gibson. its all about the difference in amps they're using. toms rig was completely digial and sound like it was coming out of a computer. garbage. matts orange tone is going to fill up any room. i use an orange myself. its a beast
Zoltan
before the gibson tom used the mesa with microphones. now there's a vox cabinet without sound, they just use the line out... tom's guitar tone goes across effect pedals and a computer, then it goes to the stage sound system. there's no lifelike noise, just a pure, thin guitar sound. that's why it sounds so powerless.
One Eight Two
Vox actually makes fantastic amplifiers. Unfortunately like you dudes said, that was all for show. How could Tom have any life in his tone if he's not evening pushing the tubes on his amps? That's where the balls come from...
darkarrow
"GC: Blink has a pretty straightforward sound. Do you use any pedals or effects?Tom: Sound from the amplifier! I think it's a sin to plug into a pedal or any effects before plugging into an amp." http://gc.guitarcenter.com/interview/tomdelonge/
Blink182acti0n
I remember that interview, only if he knew what 2015 tom was up to at that time.

darkarrow
Heck yeah, it's always made me just shake my head at Tom for AvA. I've enjoyed some of his songs, but it doesn't feel like genuinely him for some reason to me.
dildo69er
that was a long time ago that interview haha, Tom did another where he basically laid into himself for ever saying that

brent15
Toms guitar tone is the most brutal tone I've ever heard. I tried to like it but I just couldn't stand that garbage tone. His dirty tone with the Gibson and mesas was amazing. I think Matt's more raw tone will sound really good on the older songs kinda like the Dude Ranch era. Magnious
Here is a really good video that explains Tom's set-up English starts at 32 seconds. >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNyY1VA67IA&feature=youtu.be&t=32s
