The post seemed oddly political. Hmmmm, not sure. But it definitely seems like bad blood. A bit odd since he seemed like a good fit, hell he even drummed for them 20 + years ago and was in the Private Eye video! Quote

Also, Atom has been their fourth drummer: Glenn Porter, Mike Felumlee, Derek Grand and Atom Willard. The situation looks weird. As you have pointed out: no thank you, no nothing. Derek would have been their drummer for life, but unfortunately his struggles with bipolar disorder no longer allow him to dedicate himself to the band or to touring I also read that someone who knows Derek personally asked if he would ever come back, and he said no and that he actually found out through social media that Atom had left the band as well. Personally I think that if there is no drama involved, Atom probably left because ALK3 aren’t the same band they were pre-2015, when they were basically releasing albums every couple of years followed by long touring cycles. Now they seem more relaxed and probably don’t even need to tour constantly for financial reasons, while Atom might since his career has almost always depended on touring. So maybe that’s just the reason why he left. 1 Quote
