_Kyle_ Posted March 25 Posted March 25 I don't think the term "industry plant" is right here. typically an industry plant is someone who is marketed as an artist who worked their way up in an organic fashion when in reality there's a large corporation behind them cultivating them when the reality is that the artist was covertly inserted into the industry to seem like a natural following built their career and said artist paid their dues (see Lana Del Ray, Paramore, Avril Lavigne). this just seems like a cushy gig for a working drummer who has connections? 1 Quote

Something about his wrist movement or how confident he is when he drums that I can’t stop watching. Not saying he isnt, I have never deep dived into their albums. But I guess hes from or at least lives around Detroit? He's good, no question about that, and I'm sure he's going to do it great, but I'm just sick of that. Not judging, I have no right to do that, but you know... Derek was not only about power, what I loved about him the most is the feeling and elegance he's able to express. It's about the feel, the flow and everything in between. 1 Quote

He's responsible of the big twist the band took on their imaginery, just derailing into a more romantic-looking aesthetic. Yeah, they were all about 'darkness' and that sort of references, but their 'lore' took that sort of 19th romantic feel between Good Mourning, and specially in Crimson and Agony and Irony. Some sort of classic terror and romantic influence. That reflected on lots of designs and, as I said, the whole imaginery. 1 Quote
