Good Mourning used to be my jam, and I like all their older stuff. Then Crimson was the first album that I actually anticipated getting and bought right when it released. I was pretty disappointed. I guess that was a disappointing age for music, because I was learning all these discographies and not really contextualizing how the bands had evolved over time. I also think it does have a lot to do with a lot bands starting to suck though as well. Crimson let me down. American Idiot was the first greenday CD I bought day of, and I quickly grew to hate it. Chuck let me down a little. Hypnotize/ Mesmerize pretty much suck imo. Uplifter by 311 sucked. There were quite a few. Untitled was my first blink CD I got day of, and I was a little letdown first listen. Then it grew every time, and I listened like 10 times a day for probably a fucking year lol. Other than that, I dread when a band I just discovered drops a new album. Thats funny, I can agree with most of that. The only record I bought new back then and enjoyed fully was Unwritten Laws Heres to the Mourning. Quote
prankerd14 Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 I think crimson was alkaline trios untitled album tbh, very instrumental and a big progression of their previous albums I loved it at the time, mercy me and time to waste amazing songs. I think most stuff after that album was hit or miss a couple of great songs then average filler... Nothing beats from here to the infirmary , such a fun punk rock album never gets old. Quote

What the fuck Skiba doing?! He's in so many side projects, it's a shame he doesn't focus on Alk3, instead of crappy side projects!, we need a new album soon! I love Crimson, always have! I think the two last ones where pretty meh. I actually liked agony and irony a lot. Of the early ones GM is the boringest album. Quote
Ghost Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I think someone mentioned Fine. I think is one of the most beautiful songs they ever wrote. The thing is that is a Dan song. Really damn good lyrics here too. Regular version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxMs39gHdQs Acoustic super-amazing bonus version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDe4Zik1RLc 3 Quote

decisions Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 I've been very depressed recently, and I just turned on I Lied My Face Off yesterday and re-discovered it... Man. I can't believe how fucking good the Asian Man stuff is. Time and time again I am blown away at the way these songs are constructed. Their old sound strikes a unique chord...It's grimy, yet melodic and clean. Amazing dual vocals as well. The outro to This Is Getting Over You. Or I Lied My Face Off. Damn. I loved most of the stuff they did after Asian Man, but it's fair to say they never reached that level for me again. 1 Quote

My Friend Peter, Cooking Wine, My Little Needle, Nose Over Tail, Trouble Breathing are all awesome songs. They made an awesomely random music video for Goodbye Forver aswell. I remember reading somewhere Matt saying he was high on mushrooms when they did this. Quote
Rocky Braveheart Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Great song. Weird fucking video, cant past the fact that Dan has hair though!! Quote
Ghost Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 This is an amazing performance. And I really like how Dave Hause gets into it and owns them all. Quote
redhotbrianpeppers Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 I love that video and the performance. Skiba is such a righteous dude. Quote
Kay Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Okay so interesting development - There's some festival being organised in a city near me, where they get local bands to do a one-time-only tribute set for a band of their choice. When the general 'would you do this?' post went out on facebook I went 'Well my band would probably do a tribute to Alkaline Trio' Instantly got booked for the festival. helps that he likes my band, I guess. but I was surprised. Anyway, this thing is happening in July. We already do a cover of 'We've Had Enough', but we're finalising what songs we'll do for the full 35 - 40 minute set. I wanted to keep it mostly to singles, but the problem we're seeing is that... Dan doesn't sing any fucking singles. We're trading vocals off regardless for the set, but it just seems really weird... I don't wanna under appreciate Dan in the set, dunno if that makes any sense. Anyway, Here is the set currently (it's not in order). Thoughts on this? anyone think there's a vital track missing or one that probably isn't that necessary? before anyone says it, Time To Waste is left out intentionally - Don't think we have time to find a reasonable work around for the piano part. Also I know there's not many oldies, but we're gunning for your average rock crowd, as in people who may have heard the singles, so it seemed silly to fill the set with them. Stupid Kid Help Me We’ve Had Enough Armageddon Radio Mercy Me Warhol Private Eye I, Pessimist This Could Be Love This Addiction I, Pessimist is literally only included because it was the only track I could find with Dan's vocals that could be considered a 'single' - even though it isn't listed as one. I personally hate This Addiction but it was a big-ish single for them. Armageddon wasn't a single as far as I know but it was on a few gaming soundtracks. Quote
Ghost Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Hey!!! Congrats!!! I used to cover We Have Had Enough too with my old band. Awesome song. I think you're missing lots of great songs just by limiting yourself to include singles, although I understand that. Anyways, you HAVE TO include Hell Yes. Not a suggestion, not a question. You better include that one ;). Also, Sadie is a good and known one, although it was not a single (if memory serves me right). You're missing too Burn (was a single), as All On Black. Edit: also, you're missing Emma. Not a single, either... but a classic one. In fact, here's a suggestion: I would be searching more on the classic well known songs instead only the singles. Then, you should include Warbrain, and Jaked On Green Beers too. Quote
Kay Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Yes we missed Burn because we don't currently own the pedal for it, and I can't imagine it'll sound good straight. Sadie is a song I absolutely cannot stand, hence not including it. Hell Yes... it is such a damn good song, genuinely thinking about doing that for my solo youtube channel... we're missing mostly all of my favourites, but its more about what the randomer in the audience might know over what we'd prefer. I mean personally I'd love to do Crawl or You're Dead or Kiss You To Death, but thats not happening. Quote
Emil Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 I'd add either Maybe I'll Catch Fire, Nose Over Tail, Clavicle, Bleeder or Goodbye Forever and cut out This Addiction, I, Pessimist and Warhol. But then again I'm not really that big on either of those records and the strongest songs in my opinion is the one's Dan do. Maybe '97 would be good aswell, seems like a fairly well known song to me. Quote
MyFriendLuke182 Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 I think "i found a way" and "calling all skeletons" are two well known songs Quote
Rocky Braveheart Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Dead End Roads and Fatally Yours are absolute belters, both are proper pop/punk-rock belters. Quote
