Speedo Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 When Ghent and I agree on something, chances are it's the right way to go. The setlist complaints aren't valid. It was three shows with minimal time to prepare. Being an accomplished guitarist is not a reasonable argument to convolute a setlist with deep cuts. Those songs are lesser known and generally harder to learn. You don't join a band for one off shows and learn the back catalog, you do what's necessary to get crowd reaction and energy. They achieved it. They threw in what they could but the ultimate goal was Musink and that is what they prepared for; a venue of casual fans. Now, if they tour as their own and they have the stale setlist then your argument is valid and, by all means, bitch away. Until then kindly shut the fuck up about the setlist. You have no idea what you're talking about and it's fucking annoying to wade through the bullshit. You wanna bitch about the setlist? 182online is accepting new members. 4 Quote

Knapppers Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 There was nothing wrong with the setlist. The problem i think was with Mark saying they were rehearsing 30 something songs and that they were going to play some olds ones. Yes they played M+M's but he easily couldve said nothing and had it be a suprise. 2 Quote

M!ke Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 The setlist wasn't different enough from what it had been to be terribly exciting. But, I can forgive this because this wasn't a tour, just 3 shows to introduce the fans to Skiba playing in the band, one of which being a festival at that, the type of venue commonly known to have the most casual fans of any kind of concert. Now, if they go on tour and the setlist still looks too similar to this, I'm going to start to legit complain about that. But right now, its such a non issue that I don't get why you all are still going on about it. They could have played nothing different and it still would have been exciting to hear how different things would be with Skiba, and Skiba absolutely did change it up and manage to make the very stale setlist exciting again. But as I said, I expect that if they go on a tour at some point that they'll inject more deep cuts into the set, and hopefully play longer shows. Though, I'm not holding my breath on the longer shows aspect, not yet anyway. 2 Quote

Well I can remember how some posters here were really excited about the two smaller shows, since 3 or 4 older songs seemed reasonable to expect. That combined with Marks post, is what led to the disappointment. 1 Quote

Cheerios4u98 Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 The setlist complaints are valid because Mark hyped up the setlist so much. "Not a greatest hits set" "playing old songs" "practicing 30 songs." Mark seriously does this before every tour or set of shows, and he never follows through. He just shouldn't say anything so we stop having high expectations. 1 Quote
M!ke Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I don't doubt for a second that they were practicing 30 songs though. They probably just ended up playing the 22 or 23 songs Skiba was able to nail down in the rehearsals leading up to the shows. We knew they'd be restricted in how many songs they could play for the festival, so they focused on the ones that Skiba could get down leading up to Musink and then the two other shows got booked. Like I said, its disappointing how the setlist hasn't changed much, but at this point it is certainly forgivable. If they go on tour and they're still playing such a similar setlist, there will be reason to complain, but at this point, I'm not seeing any reason to yet. 1 Quote
Cheerios4u98 Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I totally understand why the set didn't change very much. It makes total sense with Skiba jumping on board and having to learn all this material. But Mark shouldn't have said what he said. He always does it and in the end the setlist hardly ever changes.
