Dean
Okay, I've sorted out all of those nonice accounts and removed their posts. I've now put in place some heavier rules on registrations that should help curb spam accounts, we'll just have to wait and see if this makes much difference.

dildo69er
What did you put in place Dean?
Dean
I implemented an addon that queries a database of known spammers (http://www.stopforumspam.com/) and will disallow any registration that's coming from a known spammers IP, email address or username. I've manually checked the database for a few of the more recent spam accounts we've had and they were all in there so I'm definitely expecting this to help cut it down quite a lot.

Dean
As in geographically where are they connecting from? All over the place really, Albania, Bangladesh, Germany, the list goes on.
Melty Mark
Got it. So I guess they use alternate IPs? I just wonder who really spends their time putting this together.
Dean
Yeah as far as I know the spammers tend to have servers all over the place that are used for this kind of stuff, trying to spread themselves around to make them harder to catch. It's really hard to imagine what they are really getting out of it!
Knapppers
I just dont get what the spammers get out of this. Like no one is clicking on their shit
