for most of us here that album is untouchable

Well, I mean. It's one of the least blink albums I touch. So yeah.

never cared for it. then again, i was 26 when it came out, and i had been a blink fan since 1995. the experience is probably different for someone who is younger. for me, cheshire cat is the end all be all, followed by dude ranch. in comparison, untitled sounds like a completely different band.

Yeah, totally different. The untitled album is really the reason I became a fan of blink to be honest. I think I heard I Miss You and All of This and decided to check out more (ironic since those two songs sound absolutely nothing like any of their other songs). However I then bought blink's entire discography at once (something I had never done before for a band, and I've never done it since) and sort of got into all eras of blink at the same time.

Tom is just going to sit back and skinny dip in the money

While wco-writing (which means: I tell ya my idea, you write the book) 45 books, 35 EPs and 3 movies saga.

Meanwhile, you can purchase super nice shirts about.... nothing?

See that's exactly what I love about that album. It wasn't just a rehash of what they had made before.

Because if Tom's lawyer has half a brain, he can say this is a breach of trademark rights where consumers may be confused that they are buying a product that is associated with Tom without Tom in it. If you (a consumer) see a new album released by Blink 182, and you're not aware of the news Tom got kicked, it's misusing the Blink 182 trademark.

It's called the tort of passing off and has plenty of case law to cite it. I believe it's the reason why Sublime toured as Sublime with Rome.

I don't know the details on this case, obviously, but talking in general terms:

- If Tom quit, he's pretty fucked up, but he's able to take his part on royalties of previous albums.

- If he was kicked out due do contractual uncompliments, he's kinda fucked too.

So... I don't see much chances for Tom to obligue blink-182 to stop using the name, as long as it seems like there is enough proof about him don't wanting to be part of it anymore. He, sure, would continue taking his royalties part, but that's all.

But as I said, we don't know the details, so... maybe we have some surprises.

Can't believe there's a secret Blink 182 collectors group I didn't know about. I was probably top 5 collectors in the world back when I was collecting. And now I'm completely out the picture!

Also, Untitled is by far the worst Blink album (after Neighbourhoods obviously, that goes without saying). It (Untitled) is still a great album, but doesn't even come close to anything from before it imo.

See I just can't understand this. TOYPAJ was a complete rehash of Enema. Not bad by any means but the experimentation of Untitled definitely should give it an edge over TOYPAJ.

I can understand the rest, but TOYPAJ just sticks out to me as mediocre for blink as time has gone by.

Ah so you are that Rory!

I've heard you had a massive blink collection back in the day

It's missing something for me.

Missing songs like Zulu, Strings and Reebok Commercial.

Sad as fuck init. Place seems to be full of blink hipster lately, sad to see.

Trying to out blink each other. The same wankers who think 'my pet sally' shits all over 'Stockholm Syndrome' ffs.

It's weird because I do think that untitled is blink's best album, but if I was going to be stuck with a blink album for the rest of time I wouldn't choose it. If I was introducing blink to a friend for the first time I also wouldn't choose it.

It's a great album, but at the same time, it doesn't define their sound when you stack it up against their entire discography.

You should know I'm not the attention seeking type (anymore  ), and I don't have anything to prove to anyone. I think most people here know how big a Blink fan I am, and have been for a long time. I do just genuinely think My Pet Sally is better - I can see why people disagree, Stockholm Syndrome may technically be a better song, but for me it's not real Blink, they were dabbling in new styles and trying to be something they're not (i.e. sophisticated) - songs like My pet Sally just perfectly sum up (for me at least) who Blink are and what their music is all about.

So you hate enema and toypaj too? They sold out big time and you don't hate that?

Where did you get that from what I said? I said I don't like Stockholm Syndrome (and most other songs on that album) as much as their earlier stuff cos they were experimenting in a new style which I think didn't suit them very well - I think they should've just stuck to what they'd been doing (very successfully) for 10+ years.

Enema is very much just a natural progression of Dude Ranch in terms of musical style, and likewise Take Off is a natural progression from the style of Enema imo. Then there is this radical leap to an entirely new style on the Untitled record, and for me that felt unnecessary and a bit forced. If Tom wanted an outlet for this "darker" side he should've kept it in Box Car imo (which on a sidenote I hold in as high regard as even my favourite Blink albums).
