Meltdown Tracker
Just heard on a big radio station one of those "Hey it's X from Y band, you're listening to..."; they had like 10 in a row and I hear "This is Tom from Blink 182" and shake my head. How does a radio station that played the shit out of Bored to Death not realize that Tom isn't in Blink? Why bother getting him to do that segment... But hey, MSandt, to tell you the truth, yes, I have some experience. A few years ago, I was managing a band here in Spain. I don't have the need to go into details, but every time you get in contact with agencies to organize press, management, festival/shows appearances and album releases on a proper label, you get the message: the more you pay, the more far you can go. In other words: once you want to get into the "circuit" you have to prove your credentials, wich use to be a pretty amount of money, depending on the campaings. In fact, to get "signed" by some labels, is as easy as paying a price and sign a contract which details what' included in that payment. Other labels work on a different way (majors, for example). Wow, you really have opened my eyes, because it is only now that I realize that the more money you're willing to pay for a service the more work they'll do for you. Never would have imagined the world functions like that. I always thought agencies were run like charities.

One Eight Two
If Tom is technically "still in the band" what happens if (extremely unlikely) he calls Mark and Travis and asks "do you want to record an album after the California cycle is finished?" Oh the drama.

Champ182
IF that happened (that's a huge if, because I don't think he has a right to insert himself back into the band), I would hope Mark and Travis would set some serious ground rules and expectations so it doesn't just devolve back into the bullshit they dealt with. For the record, I don't think he's ever coming back but this is what I'd like to see Mark and Travis lay out for him: 1. He has to sing and play guitar better. If that means taking lessons or going to a throat specialist or something, he has to do it and show that he's capable of singing and rededicate himself to actually playing guitar. If he doesn't want to, fuck it he's still out. I mean, for real there is NO reason a human whose profession is to sing, should ever sound as bad as Tom sounded. And his guitar work became shameful too, between his horrible sounding rig and his tendency to half-ass riffs and ring out chords instead of strum. It's the bare minimum that should be expected. 2. He has to agree to work on albums together, in a timely manner, and with a producer. I feel like they sort of inadvertently proved Tom's point of view on producers by giving so much creative control over to Feldmann, but a producer doesn't HAVE to have that big of a role. A producer can and should help the band cultivate their own ideas and help them focus on what is working best. That would work wonders for Tom, but he'd have to agree to it if he wants back in the band. Those would be a good start in my mind. The sad truth is his personality will never revert back to the normal Tom, but if he actually was humbled and honest with his intentions to rejoin Blink, I feel like those standards would be fair and easy for him to meet. What else would you guys want to realistically see?
_Kyle_
why would he ever do any of that if Bigfoot is still out there?

But seriously Mark told us he quit from the jump, the whole "TOM IS OUT" email. However, if I was a betting man, in court Tom is trying to spin it as it was just a "break". I am no expert but it seems clear to me that Tom's position is stronger in court if he proclaims he is still in the band vs "I quit" which I think is the reason why he is constantly telling everyone he is still in Blink.

One Eight Two
How fucked would it be if Tom's camp agreed for Mark and Travis to continue as blink-182 under a contract that gave Tom the ability to re-evaluate his decision to continue or not after every album release and tour cycle. Tom listening to his voicemails from his manager/lawyer: "Hey Tom, just reminding you that you have until mm/dd/yyyy to give your decision if you'll be participating in entering the studio with Blink" Tom: "I will not be able to go into the studio at that time. I'm not quitting, it just doesn't work with my schedule right now. Did we get an extension on Skiba's contract and coordinate with his schedule?"
